Protection from abuse
We stand with you in this urgent cry for protection, lifting up your son before the Lord with hearts full of faith and trust in His mighty power. The abuse you speak of is an abomination in the sight of God, who calls us to defend the vulnerable and uphold justice. The Scriptures declare in **Psalm 10:17-18**, *"You, Yahweh, have heard the desire of the humble. You will prepare their heart. You will cause your ear to hear, to judge the fatherless and the oppressed, that man who is of the earth may terrify no more."* Your son is not forgotten by God, and we boldly declare that the Lord will act on his behalf.
Abuse is a grievous sin, an assault on the dignity of those created in God’s image. **Proverbs 6:16-19** lists the things the Lord hates, including *"hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are swift in running to mischief, a false witness who utters lies, and he who sows discord among brothers."* If this abuse is happening at the hands of another, we rebuke this evil in the name of Jesus and call for the exposure and stopping of such wickedness. The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, and He will not remain silent forever.
We also urge you, if you have not already, to take practical steps to ensure your son’s safety. This may include involving authorities, trusted church leaders, or organizations equipped to intervene in cases of abuse. **Proverbs 31:8-9** commands us, *"Open your mouth for the mute, in the cause of all who are left desolate. Open your mouth, judge righteously, and serve justice to the poor and needy."* Silence in the face of abuse is not an option for those who follow Christ.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with broken hearts, lifting up this precious child who is suffering at the hands of the wicked. Lord Jesus, You said in **Matthew 18:6**, *"But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to stumble, it would be better for him that a huge millstone should be hung around his neck, and that he should be sunk in the depths of the sea."* We ask You to intervene swiftly and powerfully. Place a hedge of protection around this son, hiding him under the shadow of Your wings as **Psalm 91:4** promises. Break the arm of the wicked and bring their evil deeds to light. Let no weapon formed against him prosper, and let every tongue that rises against him in judgment be condemned, as declared in **Isaiah 54:17**.
Father, we ask for wisdom and courage for this mother—give her clarity on the steps to take, the words to speak, and the people to trust. Surround her with godly counsel and support. Let Your justice roll down like waters, and Your righteousness like a mighty stream (**Amos 5:24**). Heal the wounds of this child, both seen and unseen, and restore what the enemy has stolen. Fill his heart with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, guarding his mind and emotions in Christ Jesus (**Philippians 4:7**).
We bind the spirit of abuse, violence, and fear in the name of Jesus, and we loose the Spirit of the Lord—His comfort, His protection, and His deliverance. Let the blood of Jesus cover this situation, and let the power of the Holy Spirit bring conviction, repentance, and transformation where it is needed. We trust You, Lord, to act mightily, for You are a God who sees, hears, and delivers (**Exodus 3:7-8**).
