Protection and Provision

Please pray that my adult daughter and her children will be protected from evil spiritually, physically, mentally, and emotionally; that she will be healed and return to the Lord soon; that she has provision for their needs, including safe, affordable housing. Would you please also pray that she will be prevented from implementing plans that appear to be unwise and unsafe; and that I will communicate wisely and effectively with her and others? Thank you!

We join with you in prayer for your precious adult daughter and her children, and we thank you for bringing this burden before the Lord with such love and faith. We stand together with you asking for God's covering, healing, provision and wisdom over this family.

We are reminded that our struggle is not against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces, as it is written in Ephesians 6:12, and that the Lord is faithful to guard His people. We claim His promise in 2 Thessalonians 3:3 that the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one, and in Psalm 91:11 that He will put His angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways. We pray for a hedge of protection around your daughter and each grandchild spiritually, physically, mentally and emotionally, that no weapon formed against them will prosper and that the peace of God which surpasses all understanding in Philippians 4:7 will guard their hearts and minds. We also pray Psalm 121:7-8 over them, that the Lord will keep them from all evil and keep their going out and their coming in.

Our hearts are moved by your prayer for her healing and return to the Lord. We serve a God who restores and heals, who says in Psalm 103:3 that He forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases and in Jeremiah 30:17 that I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says the Lord. We pray as the father waited for the prodigal in Luke 15:20, that the Holy Spirit will draw her heart back to the Father, convict her with love, open her eyes to His goodness, and bring her to repentance and restoration soon. We pray that any hurt, confusion, or heaviness be healed and that she would again delight in walking closely with the Lord.

For provision we bring your request for safe, affordable housing and daily needs before our Father who knows what we need before we ask. We trust Philippians 4:19 that my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus, and Matthew 6:33 that if we seek first God's Kingdom and his righteousness, all these things will be added to us. We pray that God will open doors for stable housing that is safe and within her means, for resources, for godly community to surround her and the children, and for wisdom for all who can help provide.

We also join you in praying that the Lord in His mercy will prevent any unwise and unsafe plans from taking root. We ask that He will frustrate plans that would bring harm and redirect her steps, for it is written in Proverbs 16:9 that a man's heart plans his course, but the Lord directs his steps and in Proverbs 19:21 that there are many plans in a man's heart, but the Lord's counsel will prevail. We pray that God will make the way of wisdom clear to her and give her discernment to see what is truly safe and best for herself and her children, and that He will place godly counsel and even divine roadblocks where needed to protect them.

We pray for you as well, that God will give you wisdom and grace in every conversation. We ask for the wisdom promised in James 1:5 that if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. We pray that your words will be seasoned with grace as Colossians 4:6 teaches, that your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, and that a gentle answer in Proverbs 15:1 will turn away any tension. May the Lord give you timing, tenderness, clarity and effective communication, and help you to trust Him as Proverbs 3:5-6 says to trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

We want to gently remind you that it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father and that we are saved, for Jesus said in John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, and in Acts 4:12 there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. We are thankful you prayed for her return to the Lord, and we encourage you to continue to pray specifically in the name of Jesus, believing in His death and resurrection for forgiveness and new life, as Romans 10:9 promises that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. It is through Jesus that all our prayers are heard.

We pray together now.

Father, in the name of Jesus we lift this beloved daughter and her children to You. Cover them with Your wings, guard them from every evil influence, from physical danger, from mental and emotional distress, and from the schemes of the enemy. Heal our sister where she is wounded in body, mind and spirit, and draw her back to Yourself with cords of loving kindness. Let her hear Your voice and return to You with her whole heart. Provide for every need, Lord, especially safe and affordable housing, and let Your provision be a testimony of Your faithfulness. Intervene to stop any plans that are unwise or unsafe, close doors that should not be opened and open the right doors that lead to life and peace. Grant this praying parent wisdom, patience, and words filled with love and truth, that every conversation would build bridges and reflect Your grace. We trust You to work all things for good and we thank You that You hear us when we pray in Jesus' name. Amen.

We encourage you to keep praying without ceasing, to continue to speak truth in love, to fast and intercede as the Lord leads, and to rest in Isaiah 41:10 that you should not be afraid, for I am with you, do not be dismayed, for I am your God, I will strengthen you, I will help you. The Lord sees your faithfulness and loves your daughter and grandchildren even more than you do, and He is able to keep them and restore what has been broken.

We hear how heavy this is to carry love for your daughter and her children, worry for their safety, and longing for her to be close to the Lord again, all at once. Thank you for bringing them to us so faithfully. We are joining you in prayer for their protection in every way, for healing, for steady provision, and especially for safe, affordable housing.

We also hear your concern about plans that feel unwise or unsafe, and your desire to communicate in a way that keeps the door open. When tensions are high, communication often breaks down not because we don't care, but because feelings are hard to name and hear. One thing that has helped other parents in a similar place is to pause before a conversation to notice your own feelings and what you most want her to understand, then keep it to one or two clear, kind points at a calm time. Listening for what is underneath the words, and paying attention to tone and timing as much as the words themselves, can often keep a conversation from escalating and help her feel respected even when you disagree.

Father, we lift this daughter and her children to You in Jesus' name. Cover them and keep them safe spiritually, physically, mentally and emotionally. Provide for their daily needs and lead them to stable, safe housing You have chosen. Bring healing and gently draw her back to Yourself. Give this parent wisdom, patience and words that build understanding, and guide every decision toward what is wise and safe. We trust them into Your caring hands. Amen.

We have heard your burden and we have carried it before the throne of grace with you, pleading for your daughter and her little ones.

We pray first for their protection, that the Lord who is a refuge in every adversity would keep them spiritually, physically, mentally and emotionally from evil. The Lord knows how to grant Satan's desire only to overthrow his evil power, and Jesus Himself has made provision for His own in a prayer already presented, for He says, I have prayed for you. What are all our intercessions compared with the praying of your Lord, yet we join our prayers to His, that no harm may befall them and that holy patience may guard their hearts.

We pray also for your daughter, that she may be healed and return to the Lord soon. She is as the prodigal in the far country, and we pray that as with that prodigal she may come to herself and say, I will arise and go unto my father. It has often happened that by Divine Grace those who have wandered are the more readily led to God because He was their father's or their mother's God. The promise stands that the father saw him when he was yet a great way off, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him in much love. Those repeated kisses mean much love, much forgiveness and full restoration. Before the prodigal could finish his confession his father had forgiven him, and by that kiss his sonship was acknowledged, as if he had never gone away. We ask the Lord to purge her with hyssop that she may be clean, to work truth in the inward parts and in the hidden part to make her to know wisdom, for the outward springs from the inward. When the prodigal comes home there is music and dancing and they begin to be merry, for God rejoices over a poor soul that has wandered far from Him but at last returns, and that joy brings overflowing comfort to the restored one.

For provision we pray that the Lord who feeds the sparrows and clothes the lilies will supply all their needs according to His riches, including safe and affordable housing. He who restored Manasseh when the iron entered into his soul and brought him again to Jerusalem can provide a dwelling place in peace and keep them under His faithful protection, for God who promised to bless will not suffer any evil to harm those who trust Him.

We pray further as you have asked, that the Lord in His mercy would prevent plans that appear unwise and unsafe from coming to pass. The way of God is in the highest sense the way of wisdom, and there is not much wisdom in man's judgment of God. One says, I have strength enough and wisdom enough to find my way, but though he be strong as a fierce lion, he knows not the way of wisdom. That way is the very opposite of his own. We ask that the Lord would in His tender wisdom turn her feet from any path of folly and make the way of holiness plain before her, for what He does is always best.

And we pray for you, that you may be given wisdom and grace in all communication with her and with others. We see what tender wisdom there is in the Lord, who turned and looked upon Peter. He knew best what to do, He did not speak at first but looked upon him, and that look revealed to Peter his own folly and his Master's superior wisdom, and severed him from the crowd. May the Lord give you such tender wisdom, that your words may be seasoned with grace and truth, not breaking a bruised reed, but strengthening your brethren and aiming at their restoration to their first love.

Be calm and wait upon the Lord, saying within yourself, He will be under God's protection, and continue in prayer. He joys in the return of the prodigal and all Heaven shares in His joy, and He will not cast out any who come to Him through Jesus Christ alone, for there is salvation in no other.
