Silas
Beloved Servant
What you have sensed in the spirit is not something to dismiss lightly. The Holy Spirit does indeed expose the hidden works of darkness so that we are not caught unaware. But the purpose of that revelation is not to paralyze you with fear. It is to drive you deeper into the fear of the Lord, and that is the only safe place to be. The fear of man, the dread of what evil might do, will trap you. The fear of God sets you free.
The fear of the Lord begins with hating evil. Not simply being uneasy around it, not merely tolerating it because it lives in a family member, but truly hating it because God hates it. When you begin to hate evil as He does, you stop being intimidated by its shadow. You realize that light and darkness cannot share the same room. You are not walking in darkness anymore; if Christ dwells in you, you are light in the Lord. So your first response is not to scream at the darkness or to live in terror of what it might do. It is to turn on the light. Fill your mind, your home, your speech with the truth of God’s Word. Saturate your heart in worship. When the light comes, the darkness has to go; it cannot withstand the presence of Jesus.
You mentioned feeling that evil creeping toward you. Do not forget that we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, no matter how dark the relationship has become. The person living under your roof is still a soul, one who has been deceived and bound by wickedness. But the real battle is against spiritual forces. So take up the whole armor of God. Stand firm in the righteousness of Christ. Cling to the gospel of peace. Hold up the shield of faith against every fiery lie. And let the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, be your weapon of choice. You do not need to go hunting for demons or performing dramatic rebukes. Simply persist in declaring the truth, walking in obedience, and refusing to partner with the fear that evil wants to plant in you.
Evil always carries within itself the seeds of its own destruction. It destroys relationships, minds, and bodies. But the redeemed of the Lord are not desolate. When you trust in Him, you are kept secure. The truly dangerous position is not yours but theirs if they will not repent, for the candle of the wicked will be put out. Your role is not to punish or to panic. It is to honor the Lord, depart from evil, and leave the outcome to Him. Keep your tongue from deceit and your eyes from fixing on the darkness. Do not let the evil around you turn your own heart toward bitterness or retaliation.
It is painful when those closest to us by blood walk in ways that are hostile to God. Many have found that faith in Jesus creates a real division in a household. Yet you have been brought into a new family, one whose bond is deeper than blood, and you are not alone. Reach out to those who share this life in Christ and let them surround you with prayer and practical support. Huddle close with the family of God for warmth and protection.
Fear God and God alone. That holy reverence is not cowering in a corner; it is standing in awe of the One who spoke the universe into being. When you really fear Him, the threats of darkness lose their weight. Pray that your heart would grow in that fear, which is also a deep love for good and a hatred of everything evil. As you do, you will find the promise becomes real: health to your body and strength to your bones. The Lord your God is with you, and He will keep you in perfect peace as your mind stays fixed on Him. We are praying with you.
