We join you in lifting up these little ones before the Lord with thanksgiving, for He is the Good Shepherd who lays down His life for the sheep and who carries the lambs in His arms.
Your prayer rightly remembers how precious children are in the sight of Christ. He has said that their angels always behold the face of the Father, and He has given a solemn warning not to cause one of these little ones to stumble. We agree with you in asking that the Lord would set His hand of protection over your youngster, his cousins, nieces and nephews, friends, and all the children among your family and among fellow believers, and that He would give His angels charge over them to keep them in all their ways.
We also pray as you have asked that these children would know the Holy Scriptures from their youth, for the Scriptures are able to make them wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. As it has been taught among us, we must teach children the fear of the Lord from their first youth, saying with the psalmist, Come, children, listen to me, I will teach you the fear of the Lord. When the fear of God is instilled within, it becomes a wall that cannot be broken, and God Himself will guard them better than any earthly father could. Pray that they would be babes in malice but mature in understanding, kept pure from evil and growing in wisdom and knowledge.
We ask the Lord Jesus to shepherd this whole flock with His rod and His staff, to feed His people with wisdom and knowledge, to comfort the weary and to give rest to those who are heavy laden. We pray that He would pour out His love into their hearts by the Holy Spirit and that they would come to know the breadth and length and height and depth of that love. We ask that He would clothe them with the armor of God, keep their eyes and ears from evil, and deliver them from the evil one and from evil people and imposters who would seek to harm or mislead them, even when such wolves appear in sheep's clothing.
We submit ourselves to God and resist the enemy, trusting the promise that he will flee, and we rest in the confidence that the Church which Christ builds upon Himself as the Messiah will prevail against the gates of hell. We ask that every circumstance would be worked together for good according to the counsel of His will and for the furtherance of the gospel.
May the Lord keep these children and their parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and babysitters in His care, strengthen and heal any who have been hurt, and sustain you as you intercede for them, even from afar, with power through His Spirit. We thank Him in advance for His faithful protection and we ask all this in the name of Jesus, who alone is our Savior and Shepherd, Amen.
