Jeremiah 28:15 :
Then the prophet Jeremiah said to Hananiah the prophet, “Listen, Hananiah! The LORD has not sent you, yet you have persuaded this nation to trust in lies.

A Prayer Inspired by Jeremiah 28:15: Our prayer:
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for Your unchanging truth. Lord, give us the discernment to recognize the false voices and pleasing lies that surround us in this world. Protect our hearts from the temptation to seek popular approval over Your commands. Give us the courage of Jeremiah to stand firm in Your truth, even when it is hard or unpopular. Let Your Word guide our steps every day.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

We join with you in this prayer and we say amen to your desire to seek God's approval above the approval of people. We are deeply encouraged by your heart to stand firm in truth even when it is unpopular, and we stand together with you for discernment and courage.

In Jeremiah 28:15 we see the prophet Jeremiah confronting Hananiah the false prophet, Then Jeremiah the prophet said to Hananiah the prophet, Listen, Hananiah! Yahweh has not sent you, but you make this people to trust in a lie. Hananiah was telling the people what they wanted to hear, a pleasing lie that promised peace when God had spoken judgment and called for repentance. This reminds us that false voices still surround us today, as it is written in 2 Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when they will not listen to the sound doctrine, but having itching ears, will heap up for themselves teachers after their own lusts. We are called not to follow what is popular but what is true.

The temptation to seek popular approval is a snare, for Proverbs 29:25 says The fear of man proves to be a snare, but whoever puts his trust in Yahweh is kept safe. And Galatians 1:10 asks For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? For if I were still pleasing men, I wouldn't be a servant of Christ. True courage comes not from ourselves but from abiding in Christ who is the Word. John 1:1 declares In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Jesus Himself said in John 6:35 I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will not be hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty. He is indeed the Bread of Heaven and the Word of Life, and when we feed daily on His Word we are strengthened to discern lies and to stand firm. Joshua 1:9 reminds us Be strong and courageous. Don't be afraid. Don't be dismayed, for Yahweh your God is with you wherever you go.

We pray together with you.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your unchanging truth and for Your Word that never fails. We thank You for Jesus, the living Word and the Bread of Life who sustains us. Lord, give us discerning hearts to recognize false voices and pleasing lies, and protect our hearts from the temptation to choose popularity over obedience to Your commands. Forgive us for the times we have feared man more than we have feared You. Fill us with the courage of Jeremiah to speak and to live Your truth with love and boldness, even when it is hard or unpopular. Let Your Word guide our steps every day and keep our feet from straying. Help us to test every spirit and to hold fast to what is true. We ask this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus, our Bread of Heaven and Word of Life, amen.

We hear the honesty in your prayer, that pull between wanting to be liked and wanting to be faithful to what God has said. It is a real tension and we are grateful you brought it to the Lord so plainly.

Wanting approval is deeply human, and when that desire grows strong it can quietly become the thing we live for instead of trusting God. Learning to notice that shift is part of growing in discernment. Courage like Jeremiah's rarely comes all at once. It is often formed in smaller, steady choices to listen for what is true and to walk in it, even when it is unpopular.

One simple practice that helps many of us is to pause when we feel that pressure to go along with the crowd. In that moment we can quietly ask, whose voice am I trying to please right now, and then turn again to Jesus, who is Himself the Bread of Heaven and the Word of Life, and ask Him to steady us.

Father, thank You for being unchanging and true. Guard our hearts when we are tempted to trade Your commands for approval. Give us clear eyes to recognize pleasing lies and gentle courage to stand firm in love and obedience. Teach us to stay close to Jesus and to follow Him day by day. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your prayer is most timely and most needful, for it touches the very war of truth in which every believer is called to stand. In the days of Jeremiah the false prophet Hananiah spoke smooth things and promised peace when there was no peace, persuading the people to trust in lies. The Lord had not sent him, yet his pleasing words were more welcome to the crowd than the hard and faithful word of the true prophet.

So it is still. There are many voices that would rub off the rough edges of truth to make it suit polished tastes and popular approval. To seek the applause of men above the commands of God is a strong temptation, and Satan spends great power and cunning to allure us from the hope of the gospel and to move us away from it. But our call is to stand fast, not to be moved, holding with whole heart to that which God has revealed.

You ask for the courage of Jeremiah, and that courage is akin to the courage of Daniel, who opposed outward falsehood by distinct outward avowal of his convictions, not counting his life or his position dear when the truth of God was at stake. Such courage does not come from our own resolve. It comes from faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, the true Bread of Heaven and the living Word of Life. Only those who are born again and who trust alone in the merits and blood of their glorious Substitute can hope to be well pleasing to God and to live unto Him.

Let us pray together that the Lord will grant you such faith and such steadfastness. May He give you discernment to know the voice of the Shepherd from the voice of strangers, and grace to love His Word more than the praise of men. May He write His covenant promises upon your heart, renew you by His Holy Spirit, and make you to stand as Joshua stood, taking your place in this great battle for God and truth, if it be only as a hewer of wood and drawer of water, yet doing something for His name. May you be kept from healing the hurt slightly with a false peace, and may you speak and live the unpalatable truth in love, looking for the blessed hope of the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ.

We join our hearts with yours and ask the Father, in the name of His Son our Mediator, to keep you, to establish you, and to make you steadfast to the end, that you may be found faithful in Christ Jesus. Amen.
