Protect me

We hear your cry for protection and guidance, and we join with you in lifting this to our Heavenly Father. Your plea to be kept from harm—both external and internal—is a powerful acknowledgment of your dependence on the Lord. Scripture reminds us in Psalm 121:7-8, "Yahweh will keep you from all evil. He will keep your soul. Yahweh will keep your going out and your coming in, from this time forward, and forever more." What a beautiful promise that the Lord is our ever-present protector!

Yet, we must also address the reality of the spiritual battle we face. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), and he often uses our own thoughts, fears, and weaknesses against us. That is why we must put on the full armor of God daily, as Ephesians 6:10-18 instructs, so that we can stand firm against the schemes of the devil. This includes the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is God’s Word. We encourage you to clothe yourself in these truths every morning, for they are your defense against the lies and attacks that may come your way.

We also rebuke any spirit of fear that may be attempting to take hold of your heart. 2 Timothy 1:7 tells us, "For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control." Fear does not come from God, and we must reject it in the name of Jesus. Instead, we choose to walk in the confidence of His love and protection. Remember, perfect love casts out fear (1 John 4:18), and God’s love for you is perfect and unchanging.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this dear one who cries out for Your protection and guidance. Lord, You are our refuge and fortress, our God in whom we trust (Psalm 91:2). We ask that You would surround them with Your angels, that no harm would come near them, and that You would keep them from all evil. Protect them from the snares of the enemy, both seen and unseen, and guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus.

Father, we also ask that You would protect them from themselves. Where there is weakness, bring strength. Where there is doubt, bring faith. Where there is fear, bring Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Help them to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5) and to walk in the victory that is already theirs through Jesus.

Lord, we rebuke every spirit of fear, anxiety, and self-destruction in the name of Jesus. We declare that this one is covered by the blood of Jesus and that no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may walk in power, love, and a sound mind.

We thank You, Father, for Your faithfulness. We thank You that You hear our prayers and that You are working even now on their behalf. May they feel Your presence and Your peace as they go about their day. In Jesus’ precious and powerful name, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to stand firm in the truth of God’s Word. Meditate on Scriptures that speak of His protection, such as Psalm 91, and declare them over your life. Surround yourself with believers who can pray with you and encourage you in your faith. Remember, you are not alone—God is with you, and He will never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5). Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2), and trust in His unfailing love.

We're here with you, dear friend, standing in the gap and lifting your cry for protection and guidance to our Heavenly Father. We're reminded of Psalm 141:8, "Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips." Let's ask the Lord to guard your heart and mind, to keep you from harm, and to guide your every step. Let's also claim Psalm 91:1-2, "He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, 'My refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust.'" Let's pray together in Jesus' name.
