~Profound Proclamation~

"When you read 1Corinthians 2:6-16 you learn that, left to ourselves you cannot understand God’s truth, God’s ‘secret wisdom’. That is, you cannot understand God’s age-long mystery: the truth about Jesus Christ and the salvation God grants to us through Christ’s crucifixion. Left to ourselves, you would not even think of the truth of the Gospel, it is so grand and so glorious that it wouldn’t even enter our heads as a possibility. ‘But,’ says Paul, ‘God has revealed it to us by his Spirit’ [1Corinthians 2:10].

Paul teaches us,

•God has revealed this to us ‘by his Spirit’.

•We have ‘received … the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us’ [1Corinthians 2:12].

•We are ‘taught by the Spirit’ [verse 13].

•The truths we know ‘come from the Spirit of God’ [verse 14].

•Because of this action of the Spirit in revealing God’s truth to us, we have, Paul teaches, ‘the mind of Christ’ [verse 16].

"The fact that those of us that know Jesus Christ, the fact that you know and understand what Christ did for us on the cross, is clearly the result of the revelatory work of the Holy Spirit in our hearts and minds."

This revelatory role of the Spirit is also taught by Jesus Christ:

('Praise God'...I'M Alive...I'M Alive...I'M Alive...)

Amen! We always have to remember that, as Jesus told Simon Barjona about his revelation that Jesus was The Christ, The Lord's Anointed... "Flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father in Heaven" Matt 16:17. Truly the natural man does not get this on his or her own!

Christians often realize we are saved by grace, but then something funny happens: they slip over into the error of the Galatians. Paul asks them in Galatians Chapter 3:2-3, "I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by works of the Law, or by hearing with faith? 3 Are you so foolish? After starting in the Spirit, are you now finishing in the flesh?"

Christians seem to loose sight of what The New Testament clearly teaches in Philippians, 6 For I am confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will continue to perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus. And again in 1 Corinthians, "He will sustain you to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ."

So we are not only saved by grace through faith in the Work and revelation of God, but SANCTIFIED by the same Messiah, who ever lives to make intercession for us, (Heb 7:25), who is at the Right Hand of God, Who also intercedes for us (Rom 8:24), and prays for us as He did Peter, "That your faith will not fail, and once you turn, you will strengthen your brothers and sisters" (Luke 22:32).

Jesus cleared up the same issue in John 6:28 "Then they inquired, “What must we do to perform the works of God? 29 Jesus replied, “This is the work of God: to believe in the One He has sent.”

"For consider your calling, brethren, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble; but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong, and the base things of the world and the despised God has chosen, the things that are not, so that He may nullify the things that are, so that no man may boast before God.

But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption, so that, just as it is written, “Let him who boasts, boast in the Lord” (1 Corinthians 1:26-31).

May the Word run in Jesus' Name (2 Thes 3:1-3). Amen.
