We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this situation to Him in the mighty name of Jesus. Father, we know that You are the ultimate authority over all earthly powers and governments, and nothing is impossible for You. We stand on Your promise in Proverbs 21:1, "The king’s heart is in the Lord’s hand like the watercourses. He turns it wherever he desires." Lord, we ask that You turn the hearts of those in authority to show mercy and compassion toward these families, including this one who has come before You in prayer.
We pray that the demolition project threatening this home would be canceled, Lord. You see the needs of this large, low-income family and the many others who rely on this housing. You are the Provider, Jehovah-Jireh, and we trust in Your provision. We ask that You intervene in the legal processes of this city, that the laws permitting this demolition would be repealed or amended to protect the vulnerable. Let justice and mercy prevail, as Your Word declares in Micah 6:8, "He has shown you, O man, what is good. What does the Lord require of you, but to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?"
Father, we also ask that You would strengthen this family’s faith during this trial. Remind them that You are their refuge and fortress, as Psalm 91:2 declares, "I will say of the Lord, 'He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust.'" Let them not be overcome by fear or anxiety, but instead, fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Surround them with Your angels to guard and protect them, and provide for every need according to Your riches in glory.
We rebuke any spirit of oppression or injustice that may be at work in this situation. We declare that no weapon formed against this family or their home shall prosper, for this is Your promise in Isaiah 54:17, "No weapon that is formed against you will prevail; and you will condemn every tongue that accuses you in judgment. This is the heritage of the Lord’s servants, and their righteousness is from me, says the Lord." We stand in agreement with this family, believing that You will make a way where there seems to be no way.
Lord, if there is any unconfessed sin or unforgiveness in the lives of those involved, we pray that You would bring it to light and lead them to repentance. Your Word tells us in 1 John 1:9, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." We ask that You would cleanse and restore, so that nothing would hinder Your blessings from flowing into their lives.
We also pray for wisdom and favor for this family as they navigate this difficult season. Give them discernment to know how to advocate for themselves and their neighbors, and open doors that no man can shut. Let Your light shine in the darkness of this situation, and may Your glory be revealed through it.
Finally, Lord, we ask that You would draw this family closer to You through this trial. May they seek Your face and find comfort in Your presence. Let this be a testimony of Your faithfulness and power, so that others may come to know You as their Savior and Lord. We pray all these things in the powerful name of Jesus, the name above every name, the only name by which we can be saved. Amen.
