Prize

We have received your request asking for prayer for three prizes from three different countries and we join with you in bringing this desire before the Lord to seek His will together in Jesus' name.

We understand the hope of receiving something good and the excitement of being recognized or provided for, and we want to encourage you to bring every desire to God with a heart that seeks Him first. The Scriptures teach us, But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well Matthew 6:33. Our Father knows what we need and He promises, My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:19.

We also want to gently encourage you to examine the heart behind praying for prizes. If these prizes are connected to gambling, lotteries, or games of chance, we must lovingly remind you what the Word says about the love of money and covetousness. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil 1 Timothy 6:10, and we are called to be content, Be free from the love of money, content with such things as you have, for he has said, I will in no way leave you, neither will I in any way forsake you Hebrews 13:5. God desires that we work diligently and trust Him for provision, Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men Colossians 3:23, rather than placing our hope in uncertain winnings. The plans of the diligent surely lead to profit Proverbs 21:5. If these are legitimate opportunities, awards, or competitions where you have used God given talents, we pray that God would be glorified in the outcome, whether the answer is yes or no, and that you would find your contentment in Him alone.

We also noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We want to share with love that it is only through Jesus that we have access to God and that our prayers are heard. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. It is by placing our faith in Jesus, believing that He died for our sins and rose again, and confessing Him as Lord, that we are reconciled to God Romans 10:9. We encourage you to trust in Him fully, not only for prizes or provision, but for eternal life.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. We lift up this dear one to You and lay this request for three prizes before Your throne. Lord, You know the details and the desires of this heart. We ask that Your will be done in each of these situations. If it is Your will and for good, open the doors that no man can shut, and if it is not Your will, give peace and contentment to accept Your answer. Guard this heart from greed, from the love of money, and from placing hope in uncertain riches, and instead teach us to trust in You as our provider and our greatest prize. Help us to seek first Your kingdom and to be diligent stewards of all You have given. Draw this one closer to Jesus, deepen faith in Him, and let every need be met according to Your riches in glory. We ask this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We appreciate you sharing this request with us. We hear how much these three prizes in three different countries matter to you, and we are joining you in prayer as you wait and hope.

We know what it is like to hold a specific outcome in our hearts and wonder how God will provide. He invites us to bring our honest desires to Him and at the same time to trust Him with the results, asking for His wisdom to guide what we pursue and how we steward whatever He gives.

One thing that can help bring clarity while you pray is to pause and get specific with the Lord about each one. You might write down what each prize would mean for you, what you hope it would make possible, and then pray over each one by name, asking God to open the right doors and to close the ones that are not for your good. That simple practice can keep your heart both hopeful and surrendered as you watch for His leading.

Father, we lift up our friend to You today. You know the three prizes on their heart and the needs and hopes behind each one. We ask for Your wisdom, Your provision, and Your clear direction in each country and situation. Help them to sense Your nearness and peace as they wait, and to trust Your good will for their life. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen.

Your petition concerning three prizes from three different countries has been brought before the Lord with care, and we join you in seeking His will in this matter.

We are reminded that contentment is one of the flowers of heaven, and if we would have it, it must be cultivated. A man's contentment is in his mind, not in the extent of his possessions. Alexander, with all the world at his feet, cries for another world to conquer, and so the heart that seeks its rest in prizes or possessions will never be satisfied by gaining them. True peace is found in learning, as the apostle says, in whatsoever state we are, therewith to be content.

We are also reminded that nothing is our own, it is all our Master's. Whatever is placed into our hands, whether little or much, is a stewardship for which we must give an account. This is the main point of our stewardship, and we are called to labor faithfully with what He entrusts to us, not idling or trifling or growing careless, but using all for the good of our brothers and sisters and for His glory. If increase comes, it comes to be stewarded, not merely to be enjoyed.

Therefore we pray for you in this way. May the Lord grant you a contented heart that rests in Christ alone, and a faith that finds peaceful contentment whether tribulation lasts or is removed. May He teach you to seek, by superior skill, steady perseverance and temperate thriftiness, to raise your position diligently and honestly, without covetousness. And if it be His wise and gracious will to grant you these prizes or any portion of them, may He give you grace to receive them as from His hand and to use them as a faithful steward who remembers that he must soon give an account, to the honor of your Master and the good of others. If it be not His will, may He still give you the greater prize of a heart satisfied in Him.

We leave this desire with Him who does all things well, asking that His perfect will be done and that you may be kept in faithful stewardship and quiet contentment in Christ. Amen.
