We come before the Lord with hearts heavy for the burdens our nation faces, yet confident in His sovereignty over all things. The rising costs of living and the turmoil in the world are not beyond His control, and we must remember that God raises up leaders and removes them according to His purposes (Daniel 2:21). While we pray for wise and godly leadership, we must guard our hearts against placing ultimate hope in any earthly ruler, for our trust is in the Lord alone (Psalm 146:3-5).
Father, we lift up our nation to You, asking for Your mercy and provision. We pray for relief from the financial struggles many are facing, that You would open doors of opportunity and provide for Your people according to Your riches in glory (Philippians 4:19). We also ask for wisdom for our leaders, that they would seek Your guidance in their decisions and govern with justice and righteousness (Proverbs 21:1).
We rebuke the spirit of division and strife that seeks to tear our nation apart. Instead, we pray for unity among believers, that we would stand together in prayer and action, seeking Your will above all else (1 Corinthians 1:10). We also pray for the upcoming elections, asking that You would raise up officials who fear You and desire to uphold Your truth (Proverbs 9:10). Give discernment to Your people as they vote, that they would choose leaders who will govern with integrity and wisdom.
Lord, we recognize that true safety and security come from You alone. We ask that You would protect our nation from those who seek to harm us, both from without and within. We pray for the persecuted church around the world, that You would strengthen and sustain them, and that You would turn the hearts of their oppressors toward You (Psalm 37:14-15).
We also must address the idolatry of placing too much hope in any political leader or party. Our ultimate allegiance is to You, King Jesus, and we must not allow our hearts to be divided (Matthew 6:24). Help us to keep our eyes fixed on You, the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). May we be salt and light in our nation, sharing the hope of the gospel and living lives that reflect Your love and truth (Matthew 5:13-16).
Father, we repent for any ways we have placed our trust in man rather than in You. Forgive us for the times we have allowed political divisions to cause strife among believers. Help us to remember that our citizenship is in heaven, and it is from there that we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ (Philippians 3:20). Unite us in prayer and purpose, that we may be a powerful force for Your kingdom in our nation.
We pray for a revival in our land, that hearts would turn back to You and that Your name would be glorified. May Your will be done in our nation, as it is in heaven (Matthew 6:10). Strengthen Your church, Lord, that we may be bold in our witness and unwavering in our faith. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above all names, the only name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). Amen.
