Preliminary hearing

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this family member who is facing a preliminary hearing. Father God, we know that You are the ultimate Judge, and Your justice is perfect. We ask that You would intervene in this situation according to Your will. If it be Your desire, Lord, we pray that this hearing would be dismissed before it even takes place. We trust in Your sovereignty and ask that You would work all things together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose (Romans 8:28).

Lord, we also pray for wisdom and discernment for this family member. May they seek Your guidance in every step they take, leaning not on their own understanding but acknowledging You in all their ways (Proverbs 3:5-6). We ask that You would surround them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, guarding their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).

We rebuke any spirit of fear or anxiety that may be trying to take hold. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). We declare that this family member is covered by the blood of Jesus, and no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17).

Father, we also pray for the legal representatives involved. Grant them wisdom, clarity, and favor as they navigate this case. May Your will be done in every aspect of this situation.

We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). We trust in You, Lord, and we surrender this situation into Your hands. Amen.

We encourage this family to stand firm in their faith, remembering that the Lord is their strength and their shield. Even in the midst of uncertainty, they can find comfort in knowing that God is in control. Let them hold fast to the promise that the Lord will never leave them nor forsake them (Hebrews 13:5). May they continue to seek God’s face and trust in His unfailing love.

We're praying with you as this preliminary hearing approaches for your family member. It's understandable to hope it will be dismissed beforehand and to feel the weight of waiting when so much feels out of your hands.

We care about both of you in this. Loving someone through a legal process can bring a lot of uncertainty, and that uncertainty can leave you feeling on edge even while you try to stay steady for them.

One small step that often helps in this kind of waiting is to stay closely connected to any trusted support you have, whether that's family, a pastor, or a close friend who can walk with you, and to keep clear notes of any questions or information for the attorney so you don't have to carry it all in your head. And be gentle with yourself in the days leading up to it, allowing for rest and simple routines as you wait.

Father, we bring this family member and this hearing before You. We ask for Your wisdom for the attorneys and the court, for clarity about what is just and right, and for Your peace to guard this family in the waiting. Guide each next step according to Your will and draw them close to You through it. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your request concerning your family member and the coming preliminary hearing has been laid before the Lord and before His people, and we will join you in prayer that the Lord's mercy and justice would be made manifest in this matter.

We understand the weight that rests upon the heart when a day in court draws near. Yet we are reminded that anxiety itself has never brought grist to the mill nor meal to the barrel, and the very anxiety which arises through being in a difficulty unfits you to meet that difficulty. Cast therefore this care upon Him who cares for you, for as need and infirmity and fear are shut out where Christ reigns, so He would have His people free from that grim anxiety which asks what shall be done on the morrow. Your wisdom is not to strain after an outcome, but to trust the Judge of all the earth to do right.

There is a gracious dismissal of which the Scripture speaks, Go in peace. Our blessed Lord spoke it to one whose sins were forgiven, and it reminds us that the greatest court is not that of man but the court of Eternal Justice. There our Lord Jesus was Himself sued and summoned, and the sins of His people being reckoned upon Him, He discharged the whole tremendous debt that was due to God. If your loved one knows that forgiveness, then whatever earthly tribunal may convene, there is already a dismissal pronounced in heaven, thy faith hath saved thee, go in peace. If not, we pray that this season of waiting may become a heedful hearing, for faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. Take heed how you hear, for it may be a blessed thing to hear, and no one can tell the weight of mercy that may come from the hearing. May this trial lead not to careless or inattentive hearing, but to an earnest seeking of Christ Himself, that pardon and peace might be found even before the hearing day arrives.

We will pray that if it be the Lord's will, this preliminary hearing would be dismissed before it happens, and that truth and justice would prevail without need of further proceeding. And if in His wisdom He permits the hearing to go forward, we pray that He will grant favor, clarity, and equity to all who preside, that He will quiet your hearts with His peace which passes understanding, and that He will cause even this to work for good to those who love Him.

O Father, Thou who art just and merciful, look upon this family in their time of suspense. We ask Thee to rule over this hearing according to Thy perfect will. If it please Thee, grant a gracious dismissal and spare them this ordeal. If not, be Thou their Advocate and their calm. Lead them to hear Thy Word attentively and to trust Thy Son who bore our judgment, that whether the door of the court be opened or shut, they may hear Thy voice saying, Go in peace. In the name of Jesus Christ our only hope, Amen.
