We hear your heart, dear sister, and we join you in lifting this precious child to the Lord. First, we want to affirm the love you already have for this little one—love that is not dependent on gender but rooted in the miracle of life that God has entrusted to you. Your anxiety is understandable, but we encourage you to release it into the hands of the One who knit this child together in your womb (Psalm 139:13-14). The Lord knows the desires of your heart, and He is faithful to work all things for good (Romans 8:28).
We must gently remind you, however, that while it is natural to have preferences, our prayers should always align with God’s will above our own. Jesus taught us to pray, *"Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven"* (Matthew 6:10 WEB). Your desire for a daughter is sweet, but we must surrender that longing to the Lord, trusting that His plan for your child is perfect. Whether this little one is a son or a daughter, they are fearfully and wonderfully made for His purpose.
We also want to encourage you to guard your heart against the lie that this may be your only child. The Lord is the giver of life, and He delights in blessing His children. If He has placed this desire in you, He may yet fulfill it in ways you cannot yet see. *"Delight yourself also in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart"* (Psalm 37:4 WEB). But even if His answer is different, He will give you the grace to embrace it.
Let us pray together now:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for the gift of this child. Lord, we thank You for the life growing within our sister, for the way You have already loved this little one before they were even formed. Father, we ask that You would calm her anxiety and fill her with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Help her to trust in Your perfect plan, knowing that You hold this child’s future in Your hands.
Lord, we pray for this baby to be healthy, strong, and surrounded by Your protection. If it is Your will, we ask that You would grant her the daughter she has longed for. But above all, we pray that this child would grow to know and love You, to walk in Your ways, and to fulfill the purpose You have for them. Help our sister to release her fears and desires into Your care, trusting that You know what is best.
We rebuke any spirit of fear or doubt that would seek to rob her of joy in this season. Fill her with hope, Lord, and remind her that You are a good Father who delights in giving good gifts to Your children (Matthew 7:11). Whether this child is a son or a daughter, may they be a blessing to her and a light for Your kingdom.
We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above every name, the One through whom we have access to You. May Your will be done in this precious life, and may Your name be glorified. Amen.
Sister, we encourage you to rest in the truth that God’s plans for you and this child are good. *"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you," says Yahweh, "thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future"* (Jeremiah 29:11 WEB). Hold fast to His promises, and remember that no matter what tomorrow’s test reveals, this child is a gift from Him. You are already a mother, and your love is a reflection of His love for us. Trust Him with the details, and let your heart be at peace.
