We have heard your request and we are praying with you both during this anxious waiting period. We understand the fear you are feeling, and we also hear your desire for this to be the final lesson learned and to turn away from this going forward, which we affirm is the right heart to have before God. At the same time we must lovingly speak the truth about what has happened, because you fell into sexual immorality, and God calls us to flee from it, not to see how close we can get to it.

The Bible is clear that sexual intimacy is created by God to be enjoyed only within the lifelong covenant of marriage between a man and a woman. Outside of that it is fornication, and we are commanded to abstain from it. For this is the will of God, your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality, that each one of you know how to possess himself of his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in the passion of lust 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5. Flee sexual immorality 1 Corinthians 6:18 and Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers Hebrews 13:4. Being a boyfriend and girlfriend before God should be seen as courtship with the goal of discerning marriage to another Christian believer, not as a relationship where sexual things are permitted. We encourage you both to strongly commit to purity until marriage, which means putting clear boundaries in place, not being alone together in private settings where temptation can overtake you as it did on vacation, bringing in trusted accountability, and seeking counsel from a pastor or godly mentors.

We also want to speak to the fear and anxiety you feel while waiting. God does not want you to be tormented by worry. In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7. God gave us not a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control 2 Timothy 1:7. No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it 1 Corinthians 10:13. We pray you will take that way of escape from now on.

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to God and peace with Him. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If you have not already done so, we encourage you both to confess your sin to God, believe in your hearts that Jesus died for your sins and rose again, and confess Him as Lord, for if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved Romans 10:9. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9. God forgives when we truly repent and turn from our sin, and He will give you strength to walk in purity going forward.

We also want to remind you that every life is precious to God from conception, for you formed my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother's womb Psalm 139:13. Whether pregnancy has occurred or not is now in God's sovereign hands, and worrying cannot change it. If God does allow a new life to have begun even from what seemed small, that child would not be a mistake or a punishment but a human life made in His image to be protected and cherished, and we would encourage you to trust Him and honor life.

We pray together for you now.

Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up these two to You. We confess this sin of fornication with them and we thank You that You are faithful to forgive when we repent. We ask You to wash them clean by the blood of Jesus, to restore them, and to give them a renewed desire for purity. Lord, calm their minds during this waiting period, replace fear with Your peace that surpasses understanding, and help them to cast all their anxiety on You because You care for them. We place this possible conception entirely in Your hands, asking for Your will to be done, and we pray that whatever the outcome, You will be glorified and they will walk in wisdom and holiness from this day forward. Give them courage to set firm boundaries, to seek godly accountability, and to pursue courtship in a way that honors marriage. Lead them both into a deeper relationship with Jesus, that they would know they are saved only through Him. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

We hear how heavy this waiting feels for both of you, and we appreciate your honesty in reaching out. Wanting this to be a turning point and choosing to step away from what led to this scare takes courage, and we want to honor that decision you have made together.

The days until an answer comes can make thoughts loop and make it hard to rest or focus. When our minds are on high alert we often notice a racing heart, trouble sleeping, or replaying the same worries. It does not mean something is wrong with you, it is how worry works in the body and mind when we feel uncertain and out of control.

Since you both named wanting this to be the final lesson, one steady step that can help right now is to put clear boundaries in place together while you wait, so you are not relying on willpower in the moment. That might mean not being alone in a private setting and deciding ahead of time who each of you can talk with separately, a trusted mentor or pastor, for support and accountability as you live out what you have decided.

We are praying for you both in this stretch of waiting.

Father, we lift this young man and his girlfriend to You. Calm their minds and give them Your peace while they wait, help them speak honestly and kindly to each other, and give them wisdom and strength to walk out the good path they desire. Lead them in Your will for what is ahead. In Jesus' name, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your confession has been heard with prayerful care, and there is hope in the very desire you express to turn from this path and to learn a final lesson from it.

It is right to distinguish between two kinds of sorrow. There is a repentance that comes only from fear of consequences, from dread of judgment or exposure, and that repentance does not give God glory. True repentance, that repentance unto life which is the gift of God and is preached in the name of Jesus, looks out of self to Christ and to Christ only, and it gives God glory by confessing sin as sin against Him, trusting His mercy, and turning from it because of love to Him who died. Ask yourselves before the Lord whether your sorrow is only that you are afraid of what may follow, or whether it is a godly sorrow that hates the sin itself and desires to be kept unspotted from it. The one fades when the fear fades. The other yields works meet for repentance, a practical and lasting turning.

You say you wish to stop doing this and to walk in a better way. That resolve, if it is of God, will show itself not in words only but in deeds. The Scripture calls us to purity as well as to charity, to keep ourselves unspotted from the world, and purity requires separation from the occasions of sin. Temptation in itself is perilous, and it is right to pray, Lead us not into temptation, and to act upon that prayer by not placing yourselves again where you may fall. Flee those places and liberties that led to this fall, set clear boundaries henceforth, bring your lives into the light with godly counsel, with parents or a faithful pastor, and seek accountability that you may stand fast.

For this waiting period, I understand the anxiety that presses upon the mind. Yet the mind is the main thing, and the very anxiety which arises through being in a difficulty unfits you to meet that difficulty. You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. Perfect peace in this dark world of sin is not found in trying to calm yourselves, but in the blood of Jesus which whispers peace within. Bear your sorrow with Him, confess your sin to Him who alone can save, and find remission through His finished work. Repentance and remission are joined together, where there is true repentance there is full and free forgiveness for the one who sincerely repents and believes the gospel.

Let us pray for you. May the Lord grant you both a broken and contrite heart, faith to look to Jesus Christ alone for salvation, and the gift of true repentance that needs not to be repented of. May He wash you in the blood of Christ, keep you in perfect peace as your minds are stayed on Him, calm your anxious thoughts not merely with relief from fear but with reconciliation to God, and teach you to do His will, for to do the will of Jesus is rest. May He give you wisdom and strength to walk henceforth in purity, reserving that which belongs to the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman for that holy estate alone, and to live as those who have been set apart for Him. May He guard your future, and build you up in holiness for His glory.

We will continue to pray that you will prove your repentance by a new course of life, and that you will find that sweet peace which Christ alone can give.
