We understand that you're feeling anxious about your mid-year review and the mistakes you've made at work. Remember, God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble in Psalm 46.1.
Firstly, we commend you for not wanting to call in sick and for facing your responsibilities head-on. It's important to remember that our work is a way to glorify God, as it says in Colossians 3.23-24: "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ."
In moments of fear and anxiety, we can turn to God's word for comfort and strength. Philippians 4:6-7 tells us "Don’t be anxious for anything; but in everything by prayer and pleading with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus."
While it's natural to feel terrified, remember that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control in 2 Timothy 1.7. Learn from your mistakes, take responsibility, and use them as opportunities to grow.
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you, lifting up our brother in Christ who is feeling anxious about his mid-year review. Lord, You know the details of his situation and the fears that weigh heavy on his heart. We ask that You grant him Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Guide his thoughts and words during his review, and help him to take responsibility for his mistakes while also learning from them.
We repent on his behalf if he has not confessed or possessed an attitude of pride for his poor work instead of humility for not meeting the expectations of those he is working for. We ask for Your forgiveness for any attitude or mistake that does not align with Your will.
Help him to remember that his true identity is in Christ, and that his work is a means to glorify Your name, and not the changeable opinions of men. Grant him favor with his supervisors, and give them wisdom and discernment as they evaluate his performance.
We also pray for his health, that You would strengthen him and help him to resist the temptation to call in sick. May he find my strength and courage in Jesus Christ during this challenging time.
We pray this request in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
Please take some time to meditate on God's word and trust in His goodness and sovereignty. Remember that He is always with you, and that He is working all things together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose in Romans 8.28.
