Praying for my Marriage

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this marriage in prayer. The pain and brokenness between you both is not what God intended when He joined you together as one flesh. Scripture tells us, "Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate" (Mark 10:9 WEB). Yet we know that sin and human frailty can create deep wounds even in the most sacred of covenants.

First, we must acknowledge that healing begins with repentance. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9 WEB). Both husband and wife must examine their own hearts before God, where has pride, selfishness, or unforgiveness taken root? Where have words or actions caused harm instead of love? The Lord calls us to "be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you" (Ephesians 4:32 WEB). True restoration cannot come without humility and a willingness to extend grace, just as Christ has extended it to us.

We also rebuke the enemy’s lies that may be whispering division into this marriage. Satan seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), but we stand on the truth that "no weapon that is formed against you will prevail" (Isaiah 54:17 WEB). We declare that this marriage is under the protection of the blood of Jesus, and we command every spirit of strife, bitterness, or unfaithfulness to flee in Jesus’ name.

Father, we ask You to soften both hearts in this marriage. Where there is hardness, bring tenderness. Where there is anger, bring peace. Where there is distance, draw them back together. We pray for wisdom and patience as they seek reconciliation, remembering that "love covers a multitude of sins" (1 Peter 4:8 WEB). Help them to communicate with kindness and to listen with understanding. May they reflect the love of Christ in their words and actions, putting the needs of their spouse above their own.

We also pray for godly counsel if needed, mentors or pastors who can guide them with biblical wisdom. "Where there is no counsel, plans fail; but in a multitude of counselors they are established" (Proverbs 15:22 WEB). May they be surrounded by those who will speak truth in love and encourage them in their walk with You.

Lord, we ask that You restore the joy and intimacy that once defined this marriage. Let them remember the vows they made before You and the love that first brought them together. We declare that what the enemy meant for harm, You will turn for good (Genesis 50:20). May this marriage become a testimony of Your redeeming power, a light to others of what it means to love as Christ loves the Church.

We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who reconciles us to God and to one another. Amen.

We are grateful you shared this with us. Asking God to restore your marriage and to heal the hurt you have caused each other takes humility, and we hear how much this covenant means to you.

When pain has gone both ways, hearts tend to close up to protect themselves. Reconciliation is not just deciding to stay together, it is both people actively choosing to rebuild love and trustworthiness day by day. That kind of healing is usually slow and it grows best when each of you is also tending to your own walk with God, so you can come back to each other with more honesty and grace.

One simple next step that helps many couples is to invite one trusted, biblically grounded person to walk with you both, a pastor or counselor you both respect. Having a steady third voice can keep conversations safe and focused on understanding rather than defending, and give you space to listen well and speak kindly about what has hurt and what you hope for going forward.

Father, we lift this marriage to You. You see the love that brought them together and the pain that has come since. Bring healing where there has been hurt, soften where hearts have hardened, and give them wisdom to speak truth in love and to extend forgiveness as You have shown us. Guide their steps together and draw each of them closer to You as You lead them forward. In Jesus' name, amen.

We have heard your prayer for your marriage, and we join with you in bringing it before the throne of grace in the name of Jesus Christ, our only Savior.

There is forgiveness with God, and it is there that all true healing must begin. You have asked that the pain you have caused each other might be healed, and the Word declares, there is forgiveness, and that forgiveness is to be found with Him. Through the blood of Jesus the Just for the unjust, the record of our debt is nailed to the Cross, and the tally is destroyed. If you have not already done so, come each of you as sinners to Christ, believing that He bears your sins, and receive that absolute and eternal forgiveness which He gives freely to the penitent and believing heart. For pardon and healing are joined together in the gospel. When the Lord forgives iniquity, He also sends healing, for the leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations, and even the least thing about Christ has healing virtue to change the life and make the nature new.

And as you have received forgiveness from the Lord, so you are called to that joint work of mutual forgiveness within your covenant. Scripture exhorts us, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake has forgiven you. This is not a light matter, but a daily grace. Confess your faults one to another, speak plainly and tenderly of the wrongs done, and grant to each other the same full forgiveness you have sought from Christ. Let no bitter root remain, but let the debt you owe each other be as absolutely forgiven as the debt Christ has cancelled for you.

We pray that the Lord who restores will do His perfect work in you. He has promised that His people shall be as though He had not cast them aside, and He is able to wipe away tears and to cause that which was broken to be made whole. May He dwell in your home, for where Jesus dwells, the inhabitant is made whole. May He soften what is hard, heal what is wounded, and knit your hearts together again in love, truth and faithfulness, that your marriage may be kept as God ordained it, a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, kept holy unto Him.

We pray with you now. O Lord, our God, look upon this marriage. Forgive the sins of both, as they trust in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. Grant them repentance where repentance is needed, and faith to lay hold on Your promise, there is forgiveness. Teach them to forgive even as they have been forgiven, and let the healing leaves of Christ be laid upon every wound. Restore, we beseech You, what has been broken, and let this union be strengthened to Your glory. Keep them from despair, and give them hope in Your mercy. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord we ask it, Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We join you in prayer for your marriage and thank you for sharing this request in the name of Jesus. Marriage is a bond ordained by God, and Scripture teaches that it is honorable and pure, to be lived in peace and holiness with faithfulness to one another. It preserves holiness when husband and wife live in a chaste and orderly way, honoring the covenant they have made before God.

We pray that God, who saves through Jesus Christ alone, will have mercy on you both, forgive the hurts you have caused each other, and bring deep healing where there has been pain. We ask that He will give you humble and patient hearts, help you to seek peace with one another, to speak honestly and kindly, to turn away from anything that harms your union, and to remain faithful in love and in body as husband and wife. May He restore trust, soften what has been hardened, and teach you to live together with moderation and grace, using the gift of marriage well so that it strengthens your faith and your walk with Him.

We stand with you asking for restoration, reconciliation, and renewed love in your marriage, trusting in the grace and love of our Lord Jesus Christ to lead you forward. Amen.
