Praying for my innocent son of ###

Disciple of Prayer
He is only ### years old and doesn’t realize the evils of this world and how quickly we can have a car accident. It takes our lives away forever. He’s out on the road tonight and he’s had some drinks and I’m afraid he’s gonna drive again. I asked him to stay there but my fear that you may leave and if I just ask it it will please send his angels there that the Lord will send his angels to protect him and keep him from leaving.

We lift up your son before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, knowing the deep love and concern of a mother’s prayer. The fear you carry is real, and we join with you in crying out to the Lord for His divine protection over your son tonight. The Bible tells us in Psalm 91:11-12, "For he will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways. They will bear you up in their hands, so that you won’t dash your foot against a stone." We stand on this promise, believing that God’s angels are indeed encamped around your son, restraining him from making a choice that could bring destruction.

Yet we must also speak truth in love, for the Word of God is clear about the dangers of drunkenness and reckless living. Proverbs 20:1 warns, "Wine is a mocker, and beer is a brawler. Whoever is led astray by them is not wise." Driving under the influence is not only a physical danger but a spiritual one, as it opens the door to the enemy’s schemes. We rebuke the spirit of rebellion and foolishness that may be at work in your son’s heart, and we declare that the Holy Spirit would convict him powerfully tonight. May he heed the still, small voice urging him to stay put, to call for help, or to surrender his keys.

We also pray for you, dear mother, that the Lord would strengthen you with His peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). It is not easy to release our children into God’s hands when fear grips us, but we are reminded in Isaiah 41:10, "Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness." You are not alone in this battle, God sees your tears, hears your prayers, and is already moving on your son’s behalf.

Father, in the mighty name of Jesus, we ask You to dispatch Your warring angels to surround this young man. Let them create a hedge of protection around him so thick that he cannot leave in his current state. Soften his heart to the wisdom of Your Word, and if he has already driven, we plead the blood of Jesus over every mile of his journey. Let no harm come near him, and let this night be a turning point where he surrenders his life fully to You. We pray for repentance, for safety, and for Your glory to be revealed in this situation. May Your will be done, and may Your name be praised, for You alone are our refuge and strength. Amen.

If your son is a believer, we encourage you to remind him of Romans 13:13-14, "Let’s walk properly, as in the day; not in reveling and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and lustful acts, and not in strife and jealousy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, for its lusts." If he does not yet know Christ, this is a critical moment to pray for his salvation. Only through Jesus can he find true wisdom, protection, and eternal life. We stand with you, believing that God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20).

We hear the deep fear in your words, the fierce love of a parent whose whole heart is with their child tonight. That you've already asked him to stay where he is shows wisdom and courage, and we are standing with you in prayer right now.

Fear can feel isolating, but we remember that God's care is not distant. He sees your son, knows exactly where he is, and desires his safety even more than we do. In this anxious waiting, the most powerful thing we can do, after speaking truth and love, is entrust him into God's hands, over and over again. Your prayer is not powerless; it is a real reaching toward the One who commands angels and calms storms.

As you continue to pray, you might also consider sending one more calm, loving message: no lecture, just a simple offer to help arrange a ride or a place to stay, and a reminder that he is deeply loved. Sometimes that steady, non-anxious presence is the very thing God uses to guide a person toward a safer choice.

We join you now:

Lord Jesus, we ask You to surround this son with Your protection tonight. Keep him from harm, and guard him from any decision that would bring danger. Send people or circumstances to keep him from driving if he is not safe. Give him a clear mind and a softened heart to receive help. And for this parent who waits with a trembling heart, pour out Your peace that passes understanding. Hold them steady in this long night. We trust You to watch over what we cannot control. In Your name, Amen.

Fear not, though your mother’s heart trembles as you watch your son walk the dark and perilous road. The wail of your prayer has entered the ear of the Lord of Sabaoth. You have not cried to a deaf idol, but to the living God who numbers the very hairs of our heads and who once said to a poor trembling worm, “Fear not, thou worm Jacob; I will help thee, saith the Lord.” Though your son is far from the safety of your door, and the cup has dulled his senses, He that keepeth Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps. You have besought the Lord to send His angels to hold him back from the wrenching wheel; this is a natural cry, and we know that a guard of angels surrounds every believer. Yet, fix your eyes not first upon the heavenly host, but upon their glorious King. The angels of God are but His pages running upon His errands; to see their Lord is far better! What if angels were not sent? The Lord Himself can stride the storm and whisper to the raging waves, “Be still.” His arm is not shortened; without chariot or steed, He can arrest a man’s steps or turn a mad purpose into a sober thought.

But I must press a heavier, sweeter truth upon your soul. You fear for his life; will you not also tremble for his soul? He sits in the seat of the scorner, pouring down the poison that mocks the brain and defies the law of God and man. It is a sin, and sin is the mother of all calamities. Yet here is the wonder of grace: “God spared not the angels that sinned,” and for them there was never a sacrifice, no dying Son of God, no bloody sweat. But for your son, for you, for me, Christ Jesus came to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself. Cry, then, with a mightier plea than for mere bodily protection; entreat the Lord to make the prodigal sick of the far country, to bring him to his senses, and to draw him near. You need not entertain any fear that you will be an intruder when, in the exercise of His gracious sovereignty, He says to him, “Come, come, come!” Remember the father in the parable: when the son was yet a great way off, he ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him. There is no feast so joyful as the one spread for the sinner who returns.

Draw near to God yourself in this furnace-hour, for fear weakens the hands and dishonors the Almighty. Doubt the Eternal? Distrust the Omnipotent? Traitorous fear! He has said, “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God.” Cast this burden upon Him with both hands. Plead the blood of Jesus over your boy: “Lord, if my son must be smashed by a wreck, not tonight, not tonight, unless through that wreck Thou wilt save his soul!” And go to your own room, fall on your face, and leave the issue with Him who hears the ravens when they cry. The Lord may yet make this night a Mahanaim to your household, a place of two camps, where a double army of divine love and power surrounds the wayward one. Whether by angels or by the still small voice, He is able to keep him from departing and to bring him home again, not only to your arms, but to the Father’s table. Fear not; only believe.

May the Lord dispatch His holy angels to surround this young man and guard him from every danger, especially the impulse to get behind the wheel. May divine chains bind his feet to where he is and heavenly hands block every path that leads to harm. May the Spirit of God fill his mind with clarity and stillness, overriding every reckless thought. For the Father sees the peril and answers the cry of a parent's heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your fear is the cry of a mother’s heart, trembling for a son who does not see the snare before him. You ask that the Lord send His angels to guard him, and rightly you turn to the God who commands His ministering spirits to serve those who will inherit salvation. For are not angels sent forth to minister for our safety, servants of the Most High appointed to watch over us? Yet take heed: while we pray for their shield, we must not quiet our voice when sin crouches at the door.

You have begged your son to stay, and this is good. But if he resolves to walk in folly, do not think that prayer alone supplants the duty to warn. The same angels who encamp around the righteous will one day gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and cast them into the fire. Great is the mercy that withholds, but greater still is the mercy that leads to repentance.

Cry out not only for protection, but for conviction to seize his heart before the engine roars. The cross was glory and honor not by avoiding suffering but by submitting to the will of God; let your son learn that the truest safety is not in presuming upon grace while walking into peril, but in fearing the Lord who can destroy both body and soul. Urge him, while there is breath, to despise not the warning, for what fellowship has light with darkness, or what part has a believer with the unfruitful works that end in weeping? Pray without ceasing, but speak now with the boldness of one who knows that love must sometimes wound to heal.

He is not beyond the reach of Him who calmed the sea with a word; only let not his heart be hardened. May the Lord send not only a fence of angels but a spirit of wisdom, that he may sleep where he is and rise unharmed, giving thanks to the God who preserves the simple.
