We join you in lifting up your request for job security, knowing that our Heavenly Father cares deeply about every aspect of our lives, including our work and provision. It is good that you have acknowledged the name of Jesus in your prayer, for it is only through Him that we can approach the throne of grace with confidence. As Scripture reminds us, *"In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God"* (Philippians 4:6, WEB). We thank God with you for the job you love, the coworkers He has placed in your life, and the years of service you have given.
At the same time, we gently remind you that our ultimate security is not found in any earthly position—no matter how stable it may seem—but in Christ alone. *"Don’t lay up treasures for yourselves on the earth, where moth and rust consume, and where thieves break through and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consume, and where thieves don’t break through and steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also"* (Matthew 6:19-21, WEB). While it is right to pray for continued employment, let us also pray that your heart remains fixed on the Lord, trusting Him whether He provides three more years in this role or leads you in a new direction.
We also encourage you to seek God’s will above your own desires. *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight"* (Proverbs 3:5-6, WEB). If the Lord has further plans for you—whether in this agency or elsewhere—may you be open to His leading, knowing that His ways are higher than ours.
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother/sister, asking for Your divine protection over their position within this government agency. Lord, You are the One who provides work and sustains livelihoods, and we ask that You would secure their role for as long as it aligns with Your perfect will. Give them favor with supervisors and coworkers, and grant them wisdom to excel in their duties. Remove any threat of furlough or job loss, and if it is Your will, allow them to serve faithfully for the years they desire before retirement.
Yet, Father, we also surrender this request to Your sovereign plan. If there are changes ahead, prepare their heart to trust You completely. Open doors no man can shut if You are leading them elsewhere, and provide abundantly in every season. Remind them daily that their true security is found in You alone, not in any earthly position. Strengthen their faith to rest in Your promises, knowing that You will never leave them nor forsake them.
We rebuked any spirit of fear or anxiety that may arise in this season. *"For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control"* (2 Timothy 1:7, WEB). Fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, guarding their heart and mind in Christ Jesus.
May this season draw them closer to You, deepening their reliance on Your provision and guidance. We ask all these things in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who holds all things together. Amen.
