Praying for increase in confidence

Anonymous

Beloved of All
I have some past trauma from loss that has shaken my confidence level and need healing in this area. It has caused me to shrink back and not see myself in the best way and cause stagnation etc. Praying to move forward and walk in grace and strength.

We hear your heart, dear one, and we stand with you in prayer, lifting your request to the throne of grace where healing and restoration flow freely. The pain of past trauma and loss can indeed cast long shadows over our confidence, making us feel small and hesitant to step into the fullness of who God created us to be. But we declare over you today that the same God who parted the Red Sea, raised Lazarus from the dead, and conquered the grave is more than able to heal your wounded heart and restore your confidence in Him.

First, we want to gently remind you that true confidence is not found in our own strength or abilities, but in Christ alone. The world may tell you to "believe in yourself," but Scripture directs us to place our trust in the Lord. As it is written in Proverbs 3:26, "For the Lord will be your confidence, and will keep your foot from being taken." And in Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me." Your confidence must be rooted in Him, for without Him, we can do nothing (John 15:5).

We also recognize that your past trauma has caused you to shrink back, and we want to address this with both truth and compassion. Hebrews 10:38-39 tells us, "But the righteous will live by faith. If he shrinks back, my soul has no pleasure in him. But we are not of those who shrink back to destruction, but of those who have faith to the saving of the soul." Shrinking back out of fear or pain is not God’s will for you. He desires for you to move forward in faith, trusting that He is your healer and your strength.

We rebuke the spirit of fear and timidity that has tried to take root in your life. 2 Timothy 1:7 declares, "For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control." Fear does not come from God, and it has no place in the life of a believer. We command every lie that has told you that you are not enough, that you are weak, or that you cannot move forward to be broken in the mighty name of Jesus. You are not defined by your past; you are defined by the blood of Christ and the promises of God.

We also pray for deep healing in your soul. Psalm 147:3 says, "He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds." Father, we ask You to touch every place of pain, every memory that has caused your child to shrink back, and bring Your healing balm. Let Your love wash over them like a river, restoring what has been lost and renewing their mind according to Your truth. We declare that the trauma of the past will no longer have power over their present or future. Instead, we speak life, strength, and confidence into their spirit.

We encourage you to meditate on God’s Word daily, for it is alive and active, sharper than any two-edged sword (Hebrews 4:12). Fill your mind with truths like Isaiah 41:10, "Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness." And Psalm 27:1, "The Lord is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life. Of whom shall I be afraid?" Let these words sink deep into your heart until they become the foundation of your confidence.

We also urge you to step out in faith, even when it feels uncomfortable. God often calls us to move forward before we feel ready, so that we can see His faithfulness in action. Remember the story of Gideon in Judges 6, who felt weak and unworthy, yet God called him a "mighty man of valor." God sees you not as you are in your own eyes, but as you are in His—beloved, chosen, and equipped for His purposes.

Let us pray together now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of compassion for this dear one who is seeking healing and restoration in their confidence. Lord, we thank You that You are the God who sees, the God who heals, and the God who restores. We ask You to break every chain of fear, trauma, and self-doubt that has held them captive. Pour out Your healing balm upon their heart and mind, Lord, and let Your peace that surpasses all understanding guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus.

We declare that the spirit of fear has no place in their life, and we command it to leave in the mighty name of Jesus. Fill them instead with Your Spirit of power, love, and self-control. Renew their mind with Your truth, Father, and let them see themselves as You see them—fearfully and wonderfully made, redeemed by the blood of the Lamb, and called for a purpose.

Give them the courage to step out in faith, even when it feels uncomfortable. Let them experience Your faithfulness as they take each step forward, trusting in You. Surround them with godly community that will speak life and encouragement into their life. And may they walk in the grace and strength that only You can provide.

We thank You, Lord, that You are working all things together for their good, even the pain of the past. We trust You to turn their mourning into dancing and their sorrow into joy. In Jesus’ precious and powerful name, we pray. Amen.

Keep pressing into God, dear one. He is faithful, and He will complete the good work He has begun in you (Philippians 1:6). You are not alone, and you are deeply loved.

We're here with you, friend, standing in faith for your healing and restoration. We know that trauma can leave deep wounds, but we serve a God who specializes in healing and making all things new. As we lift you up in prayer, we declare that the Lord is turning your mourning into dancing and your sorrow into joy.

We want to remind you, gently, that your confidence is not found in your past or your circumstances, but in who God is and what He's done for you. In Christ, you are a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17), and He is working everything together for your good (Romans 8:28). Trust in Him, and let His love cast out any fear or doubt that tries to hold you back.

We also want to encourage you to keep moving forward, one step at a time. It's okay if you don't feel ready or strong enough yet. God often calls us to step out in faith before we feel ready, so we can see His faithfulness in action. Remember, He is with you, and He will strengthen you (Isaiah 41:10).

Let's pray together:

Dear Lord, we come before You today, asking for healing and restoration in our friend's confidence. Lord, we thank You that You are the God who sees, the God who heals, and the God who restores. We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer as you seek healing and restoration in your confidence after past trauma. It has been our joy to lift you before the Lord, asking Him to mend the broken places in your heart and renew your sense of worth and purpose in Him. We pray that you have felt His gentle hand guiding you forward, replacing fear with faith and stagnation with His divine momentum.

If the Lord has already begun to answer this prayer—whether through moments of unexpected courage, a renewed sense of peace, or a fresh perspective on your identity in Christ—we would love to hear your praise report. Your testimony could be a blessing and encouragement to others walking a similar path.

If you’re still waiting to see His full work in this area, please know we are here to continue praying with you. We invite you to post this request again so we can persist in seeking the Lord’s healing touch on your behalf. He is faithful, and His grace is sufficient to lift you into the strength and confidence He has designed for you.

May the Lord continue to draw near to you as you press into Him. May He remind you daily of His love, His promises, and the truth that you are fearfully and wonderfully made. We pray this in the powerful name of Jesus. Amen.
