Praying for a suitable life partner 🙏

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Scripture says we have not, because we ask not. So today I pray for a suitable life partner. Someone who Loves God & obeys his word, will love me, my kids and who will be on assignment to lead , protect and provide. And that I in turn can submit to, love & nurture and ultimately have a fulfilling marriage & life. It's my desire to have companionship , friendship & romance. a safe place for my heart and emotions. my own husband. Someone I can agree with and not be unequally yoked. A covering that will make the hard stuff we've gone through worthwhile and To give God Glory through my testimony.

We join with you in bringing this desire before the Father, and we thank you for asking according to His word. You quoted truly that you do not have because you do not ask as it is written in James 4:2, and we rejoice that you are now asking boldly and specifically for a godly marriage.

We agree with you that marriage is holy and is God's design from the beginning. As it is written in Genesis 2:18, Yahweh God said, It is not good that the man should be alone. I will make him a helper comparable to him. And in Matthew 19:6, So that they are no more two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, don't let man tear apart. We pray not for a mere partner or companion, but for a husband, for a lifelong covenant marriage between a man and a woman that honors God, where you are joined to a man who is a faithful Christian believer and follower of Jesus Christ.

Your desire for a man who loves God and obeys His word, who will love you and love your children, and who is called to lead, protect and provide is a beautiful and biblical desire. We pray for a man who will love you as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it as in Ephesians 5:25, and that you in turn may live out Ephesians 5:22, Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord, with a heart to love and nurture and build your home together. We also hear your heart for companionship, friendship and romance and a safe place for your heart and emotions, and we know God cares deeply about that safety. He wants to be your covering first, and to give you a husband who will be a godly covering over you and your children, making the hard things you have walked through a testimony that gives Him glory.

We encourage you to continue to seek Him first while you wait. As it is written in Psalm 37:4, Also delight yourself in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart, and in Matthew 6:33, But seek first God's Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well. We encourage you to guard your heart and to pursue courtship with the goal of marriage to another believer, keeping yourself pure and not being unequally yoked. As it is written in 2 Corinthians 6:14, Don't be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? Any romance and physical intimacy is holy only within the covenant of marriage, and we pray that your future courtship will honor God in purity until that covenant is made. And we pray you will not settle for less than a man who truly agrees with you in faith and doctrine, for how can two walk together unless they agree.

We noticed your prayer speaks of God and His word, but does not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We gently remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and that our prayers are heard. As Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And as it is written in Acts 4:12, There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If you have not already, we encourage you to place your full trust in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, confessing Him as Lord, and then all your prayers, including this one for a husband, come before God through His Son.

We pray together now for you.

Father in heaven, we come before you in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up our sister to you. You know her heart, you know her children, you know every hard thing she has endured and every tear she has cried. We ask that you heal what still needs healing and make her heart whole in you. We ask that in your perfect timing you will bring a suitable husband, a man after your own heart, who loves you above all else, who obeys your word, who will lead, protect and provide with humility and strength, and who will love her and her children with a Christlike, sacrificial love. Prepare him now wherever he is, and prepare her to be the wife you have called her to be. Keep them both pure and keep them from being unequally yoked. Give her discernment and patience to wait on you and not to lean on her own understanding, and give her peace and a safe place in you while she waits. Let this future marriage, when you bring it to pass, be a testimony of your restoration and faithfulness and let it give you glory all the days of their lives. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.

We encourage you to remain steadfast in prayer and in the word, to be planted in a faithful local church where you can be known and counseled, and to trust that God who sees your desire for a godly marriage will provide in His way and time. As it is written in Proverbs 18:22, Whoever finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor of Yahweh, and we know He also gives favor when He brings a godly husband to a godly wife. Wait for Yahweh as in Psalm 27:14, Be strong, and let your heart take courage. Yes, wait for Yahweh.

We hear the longing in your prayer, and we are honored to lift this with you. Wanting a husband who loves God faithfully, who will love you and your children well and lead your home with steadiness, and wanting friendship and romance and a safe place for your heart, are good and God-honoring desires. We also hear that you have carried hard things, and you want God to be glorified in how He writes the next chapter.

Waiting in this place while parenting and healing can feel lonely, even when you are trusting God day by day. We are praying for strength for you in this season, for wisdom as you discern, and for continued healing from what you have walked through.

One thing that has helped many in this season is to not carry the discernment alone. We encourage you to invite one or two mature, trusted people who know you and your kids well to pray with you regularly and to help you notice character over time. Romance can feel urgent, but consistent love for God, kindness to your children, integrity in hard moments, and a willingness to be accountable are seen best slowly and in community.

Father, we bring our sister before You. You know her heart, her children, and the hard road behind her. Give her wisdom, peace, and clear direction as she waits on You, guard her heart and home, and draw her closer to You each day. We ask for Your provision and Your will to be done in her life. In Jesus' name, amen.

It is a right and good thing to bring this desire before the throne of grace, for the Lord Himself has said that it is not good that man should be alone, and He has ordained marriage to be a holy picture of the union between Christ and His Church. Your prayer is according to His word, that you would ask and that you would seek one who loves God and obeys His word, and we join our hearts with yours in asking the Father to provide according to His wisdom and mercy.

Scripture teaches us what marriage truly is. It is not a mere convenience or a passing affection, but a covenant wherein two become one. As Christ loved the Church and gave Himself for it, so the husband is called to lavish a special and particular love upon his wife, to lead and to cherish and to protect, and the wife to love and to nurture and to submit in the Lord. Unity is the essence of the marriage bond, and when the Lord joins a man and woman together in Himself, He makes of them companion parts of one household, cemented by mutual love. This is the safe place for the heart of which you speak, a companionship and friendship and holy romance that is found only within that covenant which God has ordained between one man and one woman for life.

Therefore we entreat the Lord with you that you may not be unequally yoked. The word warns, Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers, and we have seen the sorrow that comes when that yoke is disregarded. Pray rather for one who knows the yoke of Christ, for His yoke is easy and His burden is light, and two who bear that same yoke together may walk evenly, each adjusting his neck to bear his part without distressing his companion. Seek one who will love the Lord first, for only then can he rightly love you and love your children, and be the covering and provider and protector that God calls a husband to be.

Let us pray together.

Our gracious Father, we thank Thee that Thou art married unto Thy people and hast loved us with an everlasting love through Jesus Christ Thy Son. We bring this Thy daughter before Thee, with her children whom Thou hast given her. Thou knowest her desire for companionship and for a godly home, and that she would be found in a marriage that gives Thee glory. We ask, if it be Thy will, that Thou wouldst in Thine own time provide a suitable partner, a man who loves Thee, who obeys Thy word, who will lead and protect and provide with gentleness and strength, and who will love her and her children as Christ loves His own. Grant to her also a heart prepared to love and to nurture and to submit as unto the Lord, that their union may be one of true agreement and not unequally yoked, but knit together in faith. Keep her heart safe in Christ while she waits, and let her testimony be to Thy faithfulness, whether in waiting or in fulfillment, that even the hard things she has passed through may be made worthwhile to Thy praise. Grant patience, purity, and discernment, and let all be done to the glory of Thy name. In the name of Jesus Christ our Bridegroom and Redeemer we ask, Amen.

Wait upon the Lord and keep His way. He who has betrothed His people to Himself will not withhold any good thing from those who walk uprightly. Rest in His love which is already yours in Christ, and trust Him to order your steps.
