Praying for a job

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this burden of job uncertainty and disappointment. First, we must acknowledge that it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father, and it is in His name that we pray. If you have not yet placed your faith in Jesus, we encourage you to do so, for "there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12).
We understand the weight of this situation, as work is not just a means of provision but also a calling from God. The disappointment of not receiving the job you hoped for is real, and we grieve with you in this moment. However, we also recognize that God’s plans are higher than our own, and His timing is perfect. "For I know the plans I have for you," says the Lord, "plans for welfare, and not for evil, to give you hope and a future" (Jeremiah 29:11). Even in this setback, we trust that God is working for your good.
We pray now for your current position, that the Lord would open doors for you to receive the accommodations you need. May He grant you favor with your employers and provide wisdom to navigate this season with grace. "Commit your way to the Lord. Trust also in him, and he will do this" (Psalm 37:5). Let us also ask the Lord to reveal new opportunities—ones that align with His will for your life. We declare that no door is closed without another being opened, for "the Lord opens the eyes of the blind. The Lord raises up those who are bowed down. The Lord loves the righteous" (Psalm 146:8).
We rebuke the spirit of discouragement and fear that may be trying to take root in your heart. The enemy seeks to steal your peace, but we stand on the promise that "God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control" (2 Timothy 1:7). We pray for your safety, both physically and spiritually, that no harm would come near you as you wait on the Lord. "The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forward, and even forevermore" (Psalm 121:8).
Heavenly Father, we lift up this dear one to You, asking that You would meet every need according to Your riches in glory. Provide not just a job, but the right job—one that honors You and allows them to thrive. Give them patience in the waiting and faith to believe that You are working even when they cannot see it. Surround them with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, and let them rest in the knowledge that You are their Provider. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, our Savior and Redeemer. Amen.
