It is good that you reached out to ask for prayer for yourself and your family. God created the family and He cares deeply about it. Scripture says that children are a heritage from the Lord and the fruit of the womb is His reward, and that the strength of a nation is found in strong families. His desire is to bless the home of those who fear Him, to bless the work of your hands, to give peace in your household, and even to grant the deep joy of seeing your children and grandchildren walking with Him.
The greatest blessing we can pray for any family is spiritual. The law itself cannot bring blessing, it can only show where we fall short and pronounce a curse on disobedience. Blessing comes another way. God promised Abraham, in blessing I will bless you, and that promise was always meant to reach beyond one family to all who would believe. Through faith in Jesus Christ that promise becomes yours. Jesus is the only begotten Son, and when you trust in Him you are born again by the Spirit and adopted into the family of God.
That adoption means more than forgiveness. In Christ you are accepted, redeemed through His blood, forgiven according to the riches of His grace, made an heir of God and a joint heir with Christ, and sealed with the Holy Spirit who is the guarantee of your inheritance. It is like a child who is heir to a great fortune but is still young and under the care of tutors. The inheritance is truly his, even if he cannot fully enjoy it yet. In the same way, everything God has promised is yours in Christ now, and will be fully realized as you grow in Him.
God set before His people a blessing and a curse, a blessing if we walk in obedience before Him and a curse if we turn away to serve other things. We can by our own choices place ourselves outside the place of blessing. That is why the prayer for your family is not only for outward help but for hearts that turn to the Lord together. When a family fears the Lord and keeps His Word before them, talking about it at home and living it out daily, there is a unity that reflects who God Himself is, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, one God in a perfect unity, and He delights to pour out mercy on such a home.
There are times when we feel we have failed or that blessing has passed us by, like those who sought a blessing with tears but without a true turning of the heart. God looks for repentance and faith, not just desire. And when we do turn to Him, His blessing is so abundant that it can feel overwhelming. He keeps blessing in every direction until we simply stand amazed at His goodness.
So I pray for you and your family now. May God draw each of you to salvation through Jesus Christ alone, for there is no other way into His family. May He establish your home on His Word, give you a true fear of the Lord and a desire to obey Him, and keep you from anything that would lead you away from Him. May He be with you as He promised to be with Jacob when He said return and I will be with you and deal well with you. May He forgive your sins, adopt you fully as His children, let you know you are accepted in Christ, and seal you with His Spirit. May He bless the work of your hands, give unity and peace in your home, guard your marriage as a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman as He designed it, and keep all intimacy and living together within that covenant. May He pour out His blessing upon your children and grant you, if it is His will, the joy of seeing them and even grandchildren walking with the Lord. And may His peace rest upon your household.
We ask this in the name of Jesus, trusting that in blessing He will indeed bless those who trust in Him. Amen.
