The Golden Calf
We join you in giving thanks to God for this day and for His many blessings, for your children, your brothers and sisters, your family and friends, and above all for the Lord Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit through whom we have access to the Father. We rejoice with you in your thankfulness, for we are taught in 1 Thessalonians 5:18 to give thanks in all circumstances, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus toward us.

We also want to pray with you about your work and lift up the store where you work, that your labor would be fruitful and honoring to God. Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, as we read in Colossians 3:23. We pray that God will bring true, kind and godly people into your life, for a friend who sticks closer than a brother is a gift from God as shown in Proverbs 18:24, and that He will surround you with those who encourage you in righteousness.

We must gently correct and rebuke some petitions that do not align with Scripture, and we do this in love because we seek God's will together. You prayed that a coworker would be fired and that it would backfire on your employer if he does not pay you equally, and that money would be taken from him personally. The Word tells us never to seek revenge in Romans 12:19, Vengeance belongs to me, I will repay, says the Lord, and in Matthew 5:44 we are commanded to love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. It is right to desire fair wages, for Leviticus 19:13 says you shall not oppress your neighbor, and Colossians 4:1 reminds masters to give to their servants that which is just and equal, but we must bring our concerns about pay to God and to our employer with respect and honesty, leaving justice to God rather than praying for harm or for someone to lose their job. We pray instead that God will give your employer wisdom and integrity to do what is right, and give you favor and a peaceful way to address the matter.

We also hear your concern about paying for a lost lottery card and about your antibiotics being taken to give to another coworker. We pray for honesty and stewardship in the workplace and for your health. We encourage you not to share prescription medicine, as it is given for your body and needs a doctor's direction, and we pray for healing for the fluid in your ears. In Psalm 103:3 we are reminded that God heals all our diseases, and we ask Him to restore you. Please continue to seek proper medical care for your ears and your eyes.

We hear your longing for the man you miss and your prayer that God would make you more attractive so he will choose to be with you. We understand that longing, but we must address this biblically. God does not call us to manipulate or to make ourselves outwardly attractive to secure someone's choice, but to find our worth in Him. As 1 Peter 3:3-4 teaches, let your beauty be not just the outward adorning, but the hidden person of the heart. We believe in the sanctity of marriage as a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman, and that courtship should be with the goal of marriage to another Christian believer. If this man is not pursuing a godly, committed courtship leading to marriage, we pray that God will guard your heart from pursuing a relationship that is not centered on Christ. If it is God's will for you to be together, we pray it would be as husband and wife in a way that honors God, fleeing from fornication which is sex before or outside of marriage, for 1 Corinthians 6:18 tells us to flee sexual immorality. We pray that God will give you contentment and trust in His perfect choice for a spouse rather than striving to compel someone's affection.

You prayed that Jesus would be put back in His place so you can bring Him home to His throne with you. We gently correct this thought, for Jesus is already exalted and seated at the right hand of the Majesty on high as we see in Hebrews 1:3. He does not need us to put Him back or to bring Him home, but He has promised to dwell in us by His Spirit and to reign forever. His throne is secure in heaven, and He lives to intercede for us. We pray you will rest in that truth.

We also lift up the visions and the game you see when you close your eyes and your desire for your eyesight to be restored to normal. God cares about your mind and your body. We pray that God will bring peace to your thoughts and clarity to your sight, for 2 Corinthians 10:5 teaches us to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and Philippians 4:7 promises the peace of God will guard our hearts and thoughts in Christ Jesus. We pray for healing for your eyes and for freedom from these disturbing images, and we encourage you to seek medical care for your vision as well as prayer.

We pray together now.

Father, we thank You for Your mercy and for the gift of Your Son Jesus, through whom we come to You. We ask You to bless this dear one and her family, to provide godly friendships, to bless the work of her hands and the store where she labors, and to grant her health and strength. Lord, forgive us where we have harbored anger or wished harm on others, and teach us to love and pray for those who mistreat us. Grant wisdom to her employer to act justly and fairly, and give her courage and grace to speak truth in love. Heal her ears and remove the fluid, restore her eyesight and take away the troubling visions, and let her mind be filled with Your peace. Guard her heart in relationships, lead her to a godly marriage if it is Your will, and keep her pure and trusting in You. Let Christ be enthroned in her heart as He is enthroned in heaven, and let her know Your presence each day. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and Savior, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved as Acts 4:12 declares. Amen.

We are thankful you shared your heart with us, and we hear how much you are carrying right now. Your gratitude for Jesus, for your children and brothers and sisters, family and friends, is beautiful, and we join you in thanking God for them. We also hear the weight of work feeling unfair and stressful, the longing to be loved and chosen, and the worry about your health with fluid in your ears and changes in your vision.

For what feels most pressing in your body, we encourage you to reach out soon to your doctor or clinic about the antibiotics, the ear fluid, and what you are seeing when you close your eyes. They can listen carefully and help you know what steps are right, and we will keep praying alongside that care.

At work, feeling paid differently and unheard is hard. It can help to keep a simple private note of hours and pay, and to talk with a trusted supervisor or human resources person if you have one, or a wise pastor or counselor who knows you, so you are not carrying these decisions alone.

We are praying for you for peace that steadies you, for healing and clear sight, for wisdom at work, and for friendships that are truly kind and honest.

Father, we bring our friend to You in Jesus' name. Thank You for loving them and for every good gift in their family. Bring healing to their ears and eyes, calm to their mind, and rest to their heart. Give wisdom for work and for relationships, and surround them with people who are safe and true. Help them know Your nearness and care each day. In Jesus' name, amen.

Thank you for pouring out your heart so openly before the Lord, and for beginning with thanksgiving for this day and for His mercies to you and your family. A thankful spirit is a good sign, and the Lord who hears prayer takes notice of every sigh of a broken heart. Your bleeding spirit cries for consolation, and there is healing provided for such as you are.

You speak of bodily affliction, of fluid in the ears and need of medicine, and of visions that trouble your mind and eyes. We very speedily care for bodily diseases, for they urge us to seek a physician, and how much more should we seek the great Physician for soul and body together. All our healing lies in Christ. Christ is the Physician and Christ is the Medicine too. The leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations, and that medicine is appointed for the very purpose of healing. It grows for the sick, and if you are sick you may freely come. Come just as you are, for He who is God can certainly heal you. I pray the Lord will lay His hand upon your body, give wisdom to those who care for you, and grant you restored health and clearness of sight and mind, and that you will cast your care for these infirmities upon Him who has borne our sicknesses Himself.

You have also brought before the Lord matters of work, of wages and of those who have wronged you, and you have asked that another be fired and that harm would backfire upon him. Here I must speak faithfully to you for your soul's good. The Lord loves justice and He sees when a laborer is not dealt with fairly, and it is right to pray that your employer would do right and deal honestly with all. But vengeance belongs to the Lord, and we are not to ask God to harm our fellow creatures or to rejoice in their downfall. The way of Christ is to pray for those who despitefully use us, to seek that God would lead all of us in paths of righteousness for His name's sake, and to leave judgment in His holy hands. Instead of asking for another's ruin, ask that the Lord would give you grace to do your work faithfully, to be provided for justly, and to show a Christlike spirit even when you are wronged. That will be a testimony to them and peace to your own conscience.

You speak also of a deep longing for one whom you miss, and you ask that God would keep making you attractive so that he will choose to be with you. I hear the ache in that longing, and God has made the heart to love, but I must remind you that our deepest longings must first be for the Lord Himself and for His judgments and holiness. One of the best tests of a man's character will be found in his deepest and heartiest longings. The Psalmist cried, my soul breaks with longing for Your judgments at all times, and again, I opened my mouth and panted, for I longed for Your commandments. Do not seek first to be attractive in the eyes of another, but seek first to be holy in the eyes of God. Salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, and true love finds its right place only within His ways. Marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and all that belongs to it is to be kept within that covenant. We cannot ask God to bless a relationship simply because we desire it, or to draw another person to us for our own sake. We must pray rather, Lord, lead me in the path that is righteous and pure, and if it be Your will, provide a godly companion according to Your perfect purpose, and if not, be Yourself my portion and my rest. He will not restore us for our sakes, but for His name's sake, and His way is best.

You speak of wanting to bring the Lord home and to put Jesus back in His place upon His throne with you. Know this for your comfort, Christ needs no man to set Him upon His throne. He is already seated at the right hand of the Father, and He reigns. It is not for us to bring Him down to our place, but for us to come to Him where He is, by faith and prayer. He performs the thing that is appointed for us, and many such things are with Him. Get to your chamber and there cry unto God and cease not your cries, for if you will seek Him as for hidden treasure you shall surely find Him. Prayer has a wonderful effect upon God. He turns at the cry that comes from the heart. You need not ask for a dream or a vision or a voice. Beggars must not be choosers. Seek Christ Himself, for to live is Christ, and He is the ordinary bread of the common meal as well as the joy of the banquet.

So let us pray together according to the will of God.

O Lord our God, we thank You for this day and for all Your mercies. We ask You to look upon this wounded heart and heal it, for You heal the broken in heart and bind up their wounds. Forgive sin through the blood of Jesus Christ alone, and restore the soul. Lay Your healing hand upon this body, upon ears and eyes and mind, and grant relief and soundness as it pleases You. Grant honest and fruitful labor, and give to those in authority a desire to do what is just and equal. Give grace to forgive as You have forgiven, and to leave all wrongs with You. Turn the heart to long most of all for You and for holiness, and keep this life in purity and in the paths of righteousness for Your name's sake. Rule and reign upon Your throne, Lord Jesus, and draw this soul to find her rest in You alone. Make Your presence known, give peace to troubled thoughts, and keep this one close to You until You bring her safe home to Yourself. In the name of Jesus we ask it, Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
