We join together with you in thanking God for this day and for His many mercies, and we rejoice with you in your grateful heart. In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus toward you, 1 Thessalonians 5:18. Your thankfulness for the Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, for your children and family, for even the few friends you have, and for those who mourn, honors God. We also join you in praying for the peace of Jerusalem as you asked, for we are told to pray for the peace of Jerusalem, they will prosper who love you, Psalm 122:6.
We lift up your many requests for protection, wisdom, knowledge, light and truth. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him, James 1:5. We ask God to grant you wisdom and discernment, to lead you in truth and to guard you in His light, and to keep you careful and safe under His hand. We pray for His provision for a place to live, for food and drink, and for bills to be paid on time, trusting that my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus, Philippians 4:19. We pray for healing, peace, laughter and joy in your home, and that your work would remain busy and productive, for whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, Colossians 3:23. We pray God grants you favor regarding your schedule as you have asked to work Tuesday and be off Saturday.
We also bring before the Lord your prayer to cleanse and renew your mind and body and spirit and soul. We pray with you for that renewal, for we are transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God, Romans 12:2. Create in me a clean heart, O God, renew a right spirit within me, Psalm 51:10. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, 1 John 1:9. We ask the Lord to wash you and fill you afresh with His peace which surpasses all understanding.
Concerning this man you love, we want to speak with loving honesty and biblical clarity. You share that you love him but he has told you he is talking to someone else and likes her, that he holds two rings that belong to you and has swapped your torch, that he ignores your requests for their return and only talks to you every two weeks, and that you fear he would be angry if you went to his home. We pray for wisdom and peace in this situation and for the return of what is yours in a peaceful and honest way, for the Lord loves honesty and hates dishonest gain, Proverbs 11:1, and we ask God to move his heart to do what is right and to respect what belongs to another. At the same time we encourage you to guard your heart and to seek the Lord's will above your feelings. We do not want you to be angry at him, and you are right to desire to forgive as you have been forgiven, and be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you, Ephesians 4:32. Do not let the sun go down on your wrath, and do not give place to the devil, Ephesians 4:26-27.
We also must gently address the nature of this relationship in light of Scripture. We believe in the sanctity of marriage as a lifelong commitment between one man and one woman, and that a relationship between a man and a woman should be approached as courtship with the goal of marriage to a fellow believer in Christ, for do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, 2 Corinthians 6:14, and marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers, Hebrews 13:4. If there has been any sexual intimacy outside of marriage, Scripture calls it fornication or adultery and we would urge repentance and a turning toward purity, for flee sexual immorality, 1 Corinthians 6:18. Even apart from that, when a man is pursuing another woman and is not pursuing you for godly marriage, it is a sign that this is not the Lord's path for a future together, and we encourage you not to cling to a relationship that does not honor God or reciprocate commitment, but to trust God to provide a godly spouse in His time if it is His will for you to marry, delight yourself also in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart, Psalm 37:4. We pray that every person who is not of the Lord and not for your good would be removed from your life and your family's life, and that the Lord would surround you and your children with godly influences, that you may be happy, smile, laugh, love and talk like decent people and take up for each other rather than being used against each other.
We thank God that you pray in the name of Jesus, for there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 1 Timothy 2:5, and in no other is there salvation, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. We rejoice that you know Him.
We pray together now, Father, we thank You for Your mercy and for the gift of Your Son Jesus and the Holy Spirit. We thank You for this dear one and her children and family. We ask You to cover them with protection, to grant wisdom, knowledge, light and truth, to strengthen trust and the power of love, to pour out mercy and forgiveness and healing and peace. Teach us to forgive as we have been forgiven and to walk in kindness, doing good and praising You. Provide a safe place to live, daily food and drink, and provision to pay bills on time. Bless the work of her hands and grant favor in her workplace. Cleanse and renew her mind, body, spirit and soul, and let no ungodly influence remain in her life or her family's life, but draw them all closer to You and to one another in unity and joy. Bring resolution concerning the property that belongs to her, soften hearts, grant honest communication and a peaceful return without anger or strife. Heal any wound of unrequited love, guard her heart from clinging to what is not Your will, and lead her in purity and hope, trusting You for a godly future, whether in contented singleness or in a marriage that honors You. Let peace rule in her home and let laughter and love return. We ask all this in the name of Jesus, Amen.
