We hear the anguish in this request and we join together to lift up before the Lord all those who feel hunted, harassed, and tortured without cause or mercy, and those who live in fear for simply trying to live their daily lives. We know that God sees what is done in secret and in the open, and that He is a defender of the afflicted and the oppressed.
We are reminded that Yahweh is near to those who are suffering. The righteous cry, and Yahweh hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 34:17-18 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1 We take comfort that He has promised, Don't be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10
We rebuke the evil of those who torment and torture innocent people. The Lord hates violence and oppression, and His word is clear that He will bring justice in His time. We do not seek vengeance for ourselves, for it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord. Romans 12:19 We pray instead that God would intervene with His righteous judgment, that He would restrain the hands of evildoers, expose their deeds, and bring them to repentance or to justice according to His perfect will. We pray that He would defend the victims, surround them with His protection, and make a way of escape where there seems to be none. We know that Yahweh will maintain the cause of the afflicted, and justice for the needy. Psalm 140:12 and that The Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one. 2 Thessalonians 3:3
We also want to gently address that this request speaks of God but does not mention Jesus Christ. We want to share together that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and that our prayers are heard. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6 There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12 It is by placing our faith in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for our sins and rose again, that we are reconciled to God and can come boldly before His throne to find mercy and help in time of need. We encourage all who are suffering to call upon the name of Jesus, to trust Him as Savior and Lord, and to find in Him the peace that surpasses all understanding.
So together we pray, Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You and we ask You to rise up on behalf of every person who is being harassed, stalked, and tormented without reason. Lord, You see every hidden cruelty, every electronic harassment, every endless intimidation, and every tear shed in loneliness and fear. We ask You to intervene with Your mighty power. Place Your hand of protection around each victim, be their refuge and hiding place, and let them dwell in the shelter of the Most High. Psalm 91:1 We pray that You would remove from their lives those who intend harm, that You would stop the mouths of those who conspire to do evil, and that You would bring confusion to every plan formed against them. Bring justice where there is injustice, and let Your light expose what is done in darkness. For those who are tormenting others, we pray that You would convict their hearts, lead them to repentance, and if they refuse to repent, that You would restrain them and execute Your righteous judgment. For the victims, we pray for physical safety, for mental and emotional healing, for deep peace that guards their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7 Give them wisdom to seek wise counsel, godly support from their local church, and help from trustworthy authorities when needed, and surround them with people who will believe them, comfort them, and walk with them. Let them know they are not forgotten, that they are precious in Your sight, and that You will never leave them nor forsake them. Deuteronomy 31:6 We ask all of this according to Your will and for Your glory, in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and our defender. Amen.
We encourage those who are suffering to continue to cry out to the Lord day and night, to remain in His Word, to stay connected to a faithful Bible believing church, and to seek help from pastors and trusted counselors and, when there is danger, from proper authorities. The Lord is close, He hears, and He will act in His perfect time and way.
