We understand your deep desire to encounter the Lord and the confusion that can come from such a profound experience. Dreams can be a powerful way God speaks to His people, as we see in Scripture, but we must always test them against the truth of His Word. The Bible warns us in 1 John 4:1, *"Beloved, don’t believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world."* While God can reveal Himself in dreams, we must be cautious not to place our faith in the dream itself but in the unchanging truth of who Jesus is as revealed in Scripture.
You mentioned seeing Jesus with a round face shape, and this has left you questioning whether it was truly Him. The physical appearance of Jesus in dreams or visions is not what validates His presence—what matters is whether the encounter aligns with the character of Christ as revealed in the Bible and whether it leads you closer to obedience and worship of Him. In Revelation 1:12-18, John describes seeing the glorified Christ in a vision, and His appearance was awe-inspiring and unlike any earthly man. Yet even in that moment, John fell at His feet as though dead, overwhelmed by His holiness. If your dream left you with a sense of reverence, conviction, or a deeper love for Jesus, it may very well have been a divine encounter. But if it left you focused more on His physical appearance than on His lordship, we encourage you to seek discernment through prayer and Scripture.
We also notice that while you expressed love for Jesus, your prayer did not explicitly invoke His name as the authority through which we approach the Father. Jesus Himself said in John 14:6, *"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me."* And in John 16:23-24, He tells us, *"Most certainly I tell you, whatever you may ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you. Until now, you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be made full."* It is only through the name of Jesus that we have access to God, and it is by His name alone that we are saved (Acts 4:12). We encourage you to always pray in the name of Jesus, for it is through Him that our prayers are heard and answered.
If this dream has left you with any doubt or fear, we urge you to take it to the Lord in prayer, asking Him for clarity and wisdom. James 1:5 tells us, *"But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him."* Seek the Holy Spirit’s guidance, and ask the Lord to confirm in your heart whether this was from Him. If it was, He will make it clear to you. If it was not, He will guard your heart from deception.
Let us pray together for you:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this beloved sibling in Christ who seeks Your face. Lord, we ask that You would grant them discernment and wisdom as they process this dream. If this encounter was from You, we pray that You would confirm it in their spirit, filling them with peace and a deeper hunger for Your Word. Remove any confusion or doubt, and let them know beyond measure that You are near. If this dream was not from You, we ask that You would expose any deception and guard their heart from distraction, drawing them ever closer to the truth of who You are as revealed in Scripture.
Lord, we also pray that You would deepen their love and reverence for Jesus. Let them never forget that salvation, access to You, and all spiritual blessings come only through His name. Fill them with the Holy Spirit, that they may walk in wisdom, discernment, and a bold faith that trusts in You alone.
We rebuke any spirit of confusion or fear that may be trying to take root in their heart. By the authority of Jesus Christ, we command every lie and distraction to flee, and we declare that their mind would be renewed by Your truth. Let them fix their eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of their faith (Hebrews 12:2).
Father, we ask that You would draw them into a deeper relationship with You. Let them seek Your face not through dreams alone but through Your Word, prayer, and obedience. May they find their identity and security in You, knowing that You are their Shepherd, their Provider, and their Peace.
We thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayer. We trust that You are at work in their life, and we give You all the glory. In the precious and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to spend time in the Gospels—Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John—to remind yourself of who Jesus truly is. Meditate on His teachings, His miracles, and His sacrifice on the cross. Let the Holy Spirit speak to you through His Word, which is the surest way to know His voice. If you feel led, share this experience with a mature believer or pastor who can offer godly counsel and pray with you.
Finally, if you have not already, we urge you to examine your heart and ensure that you have placed your full trust in Jesus Christ for salvation. The Bible tells us that *"if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes resulting in righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation"* (Romans 10:9-10). If you have done this, rejoice in the assurance of your salvation! If not, we invite you to surrender your life to Him today—He is faithful and just to forgive your sins and give you eternal life.
