We join you in bringing this heaviness before the Lord and we thank you for sharing so honestly. We hear your desire for God to go to the very source of this downcast feeling and break it, to hear His voice clearly, and to be protected from the disturbing spirit in your dream.
We want to encourage you that God sees and cares deeply when we feel low even when we cannot name the cause. Psalm 34:18 says Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 42:11 reminds us to speak truth to our own soul, Why are you in despair, my soul Why are you disturbed within me Hope in God For I shall still praise him for the saving help of my face and my God. Cast all your worries on him, because he cares for you, 1 Peter 5:7. The Lord does not want you to carry this weight alone, and He invites you to bring every anxious thought to Him. Philippians 4:6-7 says In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.
You also long to hear God's voice clearly. We rejoice in that desire. Jesus said My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me, John 10:27. God speaks most clearly through His Word, the Bible, and by His Holy Spirit who guides us into truth. As you seek Him daily in Scripture and in quiet prayer, He will give wisdom and direction. Psalm 119:105 says Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path. If you are not already doing so, we encourage you to set aside time each day to read the Word and to pray, asking Him to speak and then listening with a heart willing to obey.
Regarding the disturbing dream and the spirit you sensed, we want to remind you that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control, 2 Timothy 1:7. We do not need to live in fear of dreams or spiritual oppression, for greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world, 1 John 4:4. We are called to submit ourselves to God and resist the devil, and he will flee from us, James 4:7, and to put on the whole armor of God that we may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil, Ephesians 6:11. The Lord is your refuge and protector. Psalm 91:1-2 says He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of Yahweh, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust. Psalm 4:8 says In peace I will both lay myself down and sleep, for you, Yahweh alone, make me live in safety.
We noticed you spoke of God but did not mention Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly share that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and peace with Him. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to place your full trust in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, confessing Him as Lord. Romans 10:9 says that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. It is in His name that we can boldly come to God and find help, comfort, and protection.
We pray together for you now.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We lift up this dear one who feels down and depressed without knowing why, and we ask You to go to the very source, whether it be physical, emotional, or spiritual, and break its power. Touch the heart and mind with Your healing presence and restore joy. Lord, we ask that You speak clearly, through Your Word and by Your Holy Spirit, and help Your child to know Your voice and follow You. We rebuke any spirit of fear, heaviness, or oppression and we ask for Your divine protection over sleep and dreams. Cover this one with the blood of Jesus, guard the heart and mind with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, and let no evil have any hold. Fill this home with Your light and let rest be sweet and undisturbed. Draw this dear one closer to Jesus, assure of Your love and salvation, and remind that You are near to the brokenhearted. We ask all this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, amen.
