Thank you for sharing your heart and for allowing us to pray with you for your wife. Your faithful love and care for her is a beautiful picture of the marriage covenant God has given, and it is a privilege to bring her needs before the Lord with you.

We are joining you in prayer for the procedure on November third. We are asking the Lord to guide the surgeon and to give steadiness and wisdom to every hand involved, that the stent would be removed safely and that the remaining gall stone that could not be removed before would be taken out completely and without complication. We are also praying for relief from the sciatic pain in her back, that the Lord would calm that nerve and ease the pain she has been enduring, and for continued mercy regarding her kidney function.

We thank God with you for the improvement you have seen, from 15 to 16. Even a small increase is a kindness from the Lord and a reason to give thanks, and we understand why you are encouraged that the numbers are not going down. We will continue to pray that the Lord would graciously allow those numbers to rise a little more and to sustain her strength.

As we pray, we hold to what Scripture teaches about healing. We believe fully that God heals, and that all healing is from Him. Sometimes He heals instantly, sometimes He heals gradually over time, and sometimes He heals through the skill of doctors and the natural processes He Himself placed in the human body. The way the body mends and the knowledge He gives to physicians are still His work, because He is the Creator of those processes.

We also know from Scripture that God does not bring complete healing in every case in this life, even when faithful people pray. Paul prayed for his close companion Timothy, who struggled with frequent illness, and the counsel given was to use practical means for his stomach. That was not because of a lack of faith or because of hidden sin. There are times when God, for reasons within His eternal purposes that we cannot fully understand, allows weakness or sickness to remain, and His grace is still sufficient. That truth does not keep us from praying boldly, it keeps us from carrying false guilt if healing comes slowly or differently than we hope.

So we pray with confidence and with trust in the Lord's wisdom and love, asking for His healing touch while resting in His perfect will. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have access to the Father and hope for both this life and the life to come.

Father, in the name of Jesus we lift this dear wife to You. We ask that You would be with her on November third, that You would direct the surgeon, that the removal of the stent and the gall stone would go as planned and without harm. We ask that You would relieve the pain in her back and bring calm to the sciatic nerve, and that You would be merciful to her kidneys and allow her numbers to continue to improve. Comfort her and her husband with Your peace, strengthen their faith, and help them to feel Your presence each day. We trust her into Your caring hands. Amen.

Please keep us updated on how she is doing. We are continuing to remember you both in prayer.
