Prayers Please

Thank you for trusting us with these four unspoken requests. Even though they are unspoken to us, they are fully known to the Lord. He knows every detail, every burden, and every need behind each one, and He invites you to bring them to Him.

Prayer rests on relationship. When you can truly come to God as Father through faith in Jesus Christ, you have open access to Him. Jesus gave a model for prayer not to be repeated word for word, but to show its structure. It begins with worship and reverence for who God is, it moves to seeking His kingdom and His will, and then it brings our daily needs before Him. If that relationship with Him through Christ is not yet settled, the one prayer He desires first is, God be merciful to me, a sinner. That prayer opens the door to every other prayer.

The purpose of prayer is not to make God do our will, but to see His will done. We come to Him with His promises and His purposes, and we pray them back to Him, asking that what is true in heaven would be worked out on earth in our lives. That is why the heart of prayer is, Your kingdom come, Your will be done. He does give broad promises to those who ask, but those promises find their fulfillment as we align our hearts with what He wants to do.

God also hears sincere prayer from the heart. Scripture says the effective, fervent prayer of a righteous person avails much. That righteousness is not our own, but what we have through Christ, and that fervency is not about eloquent words or length. The prayers recorded in the Bible are often very short. What matters is a heart that truly means it, often born out of deep need and dependence, not casual or careless words. And prayer is meant to be our first response, not our last resort. When we turn to Him first, we find wisdom and peace before desperation sets in. Prayer does not replace wise and faithful action, it precedes it. We pray and then we watch and act with prudence as He guides.

Prayer also takes different forms. There is worship, where we acknowledge His greatness and goodness. There is petition, where we bring our own needs for strength, wisdom, and help. And there is intercession, where we bring the needs of others before Him. No prayer is complete without remembering others, and intercession is not limited by distance. God can work anywhere as His people pray.

Be assured we are joining with you in agreement for these four requests. Jesus said that when two or three agree on earth concerning anything, He hears. We are asking that God would be glorified in each situation, that His will would be accomplished, that He would grant you wisdom, provision, healing and comfort as needed, and that His peace would guard your heart as you trust Him. We are also praying that through each of these matters you would know more deeply His faithfulness, His comfort by His Spirit, and His guidance step by step.
