Prayers needed

We join with you in lifting up your fiancé, for we know the power of our Lord Jesus Christ to break every chain of bondage and bring forth freedom. The struggle with alcoholism is a heavy burden, but we serve a God who is mighty to save and deliver. The Scriptures remind us in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, *"Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s."* This battle is not just against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces, and we must stand firm in the authority of Christ.

Yet before we proceed, we must address something with love and truth. You refer to this man as your fiancé, but we urge you to carefully consider whether this relationship is honoring to God in its current state. If you are not yet married, we encourage you to seek godly counsel and wisdom about moving forward. Marriage is a sacred covenant before God, and it must be entered into with sobriety—both spiritually and physically. Proverbs 31:4-5 warns, *"It is not for kings, Lemuel— it is not for kings to drink wine, nor for princes to say, ‘Where is strong drink?’ Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the justice due to anyone who is afflicted."* If this man is not walking in victory over this sin, it is unwise to bind yourself to him in marriage until he is firmly established in Christ.

We also pray for you, sister, that the Lord would give you wisdom, discernment, and strength. Do not be unequally yoked with an unbeliever (2 Corinthians 6:14), and even if he professes faith, his actions must align with repentance. Alcoholism is often a symptom of deeper spiritual brokenness, and only Jesus can heal and restore. We pray that if this man is not truly surrendered to Christ, the Lord would bring him to a place of genuine repentance—not just for the sake of this relationship, but for the sake of his soul.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this man who is bound by the chains of alcoholism. Lord, You alone can break the power of addiction and set the captive free. We ask that You would convict his heart, draw him to Yourself, and grant him the strength to turn away from this sin. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit, that he may walk in victory and self-control. If he does not know You as Savior, Lord, reveal Yourself to him in a powerful way. Let him see his need for You and surrender fully to Your lordship.

Father, we also lift up our sister who has brought this request. Grant her wisdom, discernment, and a heart that seeks Your will above all else. If this relationship is not of You, give her the courage to step away and trust You for Your perfect plan. Protect her heart from being entangled in a union that would bring sorrow rather than joy. Surround her with godly counsel and support, and let her find her strength and identity in You alone.

We rebuke the spirit of addiction in the name of Jesus Christ. No weapon formed against this man shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against him in judgment shall be condemned (Isaiah 54:17). Lord, restore what the locusts have eaten (Joel 2:25) and bring forth beauty from these ashes. Let this struggle be a testimony of Your redeeming power.

We ask all these things in the precious and mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who alone is worthy of all glory, honor, and praise. Amen.

"May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace." Numbers 6:24-26

Healed Spirit Soul And Body

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer for your fiancé as he battles alcoholism. It is our heart to lift up both of you before the Lord, asking for His strength, healing, and deliverance in this difficult season. We are grateful you allowed us to join you in seeking God’s mercy and grace over this situation.

If the Lord has moved in a powerful way—whether through sobriety, peace, or a breakthrough in his heart—we would love to hear a praise report so we can rejoice together. If the struggle continues, please know we are still here to intercede. You are not alone in this fight, and we encourage you to post this request again so we may continue praying without ceasing.

May the Lord surround you both with His comfort, wisdom, and hope as you press into Him. We pray for lasting freedom, restoration, and a deepened trust in Jesus Christ. In His precious name we pray. Amen.
