The Battle for Bread
Untrodden Ways
Lions Lacking — But the Children Satisfied
We have heard your request and we join together with you to bring your needs before our Heavenly Father. We notice that your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly share that it is only through Him that we have access to God and can receive salvation and answered prayer. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6 and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12 We encourage you to put your faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, confessing your sins and trusting Him alone, and to bring every prayer in His precious name.

We lift up your need for work and for provision. We understand the burden of needing to keep your job or find a new one, and the pressure of paying for your motel room for many months, your child support, your lawyer, and your phone bill. God knows your needs and He promises to supply them as we seek Him first. But seek first Gods Kingdom, and his righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:33 and My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19 We want to encourage you that God is not a source of a sudden large windfall to spend as we please, for You ask and dont receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it for your pleasures. James 4:3 Instead He calls us to diligent work and faithful stewardship. Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men. Colossians 3:23 and If anyone will not work, neither let him eat. 2 Thessalonians 3:10 We pray that God will open the right door for employment for you, give you favor at your current workplace if it is His will for you to remain there, and give you wisdom to manage what He provides with honesty and responsibility.

We also want to speak to the responsibility you carry for your child. Scripture is clear that we are to provide for our own, But if anyone doesnt provide for his own, and especially his own household, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever. 1 Timothy 5:8 Paying child support is not just a legal duty but a biblical one, to care for the child God has entrusted to you. We pray for grace to meet that obligation faithfully and for wisdom regarding your lawyer and all legal matters, that justice and truth would prevail and that you would walk in integrity.

We also want to address your request to bless your new girlfriend with biblical love and truth. We believe in the sanctity of marriage as a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman, and that any romantic relationship should be approached as courtship with the goal of marriage to another Christian believer. Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers. Hebrews 13:4 and Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. 1 Corinthians 6:18 If you are involved in sexual intimacy outside of marriage, that is fornication before God and we urge you to repent and to pursue purity. We also urge you not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers. 2 Corinthians 6:14 If this young woman is not a believer in Jesus Christ, we pray first for her salvation, and if she is a believer, we pray that your relationship would be centered on Christ, kept pure, and directed toward seeking Gods will for a godly marriage that honors Him. We strongly encourage you to seek a godly spouse rather than simply a girlfriend, and to honor God with your body and your commitment.

We now pray together for you.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one to You. Lord, we ask for Your mercy and salvation through Jesus, that he would know Your forgiveness and walk in new life. Provide for him a stable job where he can work diligently for Your glory, whether by keeping his present job or opening a new one according to Your perfect will. Grant him daily bread, stable housing beyond a motel room, and wisdom to steward his finances to pay his child support, his legal obligations, and his bills in a way that honors You. Help him to be a faithful father and to provide for his child with love and responsibility. We pray for his relationship, that You would convict of any sin, bring purity, and guide him toward a marriage that honors You if it be Your will, or give him strength to step away from what does not honor You. Lead this young woman to Yourself as well and draw you both closer to Christ. Grant peace, hope, and trust in Your provision, for we know You care for Your children. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.

We encourage you to continue to seek the Lord daily through prayer and reading His Word, to be faithful in work, faithful to your child, and faithful to pursue holiness in all relationships, trusting that as you seek Him first, He will direct your paths.

We have been praying for you as you carry so much at once. Trying to hold onto work while facing motel costs, child support, a lawyer bill and a phone bill would weigh on anyone, and we understand wanting relief to come quickly.

When money is tight and a job feels uncertain it can affect sleep, hope and how we see ourselves. You are not alone in that pressure, and God sees both the practical needs and the strain underneath them.

One step that has helped many in a similar spot is to get a second set of eyes on the finances. A local church, community agency or nonprofit financial counselor can often help you make a simple budget, prioritize what must be paid first, and look for employment resources or assistance programs in your area. If you have a pastor or trusted mentor, inviting them into the details can also bring support and accountability while you work through next decisions about work.

We also encourage you to stay in clear communication with your employer about your job status and with the appropriate offices about child support and legal obligations, so you have accurate information to plan from.

Father, we bring our brother before You in Jesus name. Provide for his daily needs, give him wisdom for work and for stewardship of what You provide, and guide his steps with peace and clarity. Help him feel Your nearness and find trustworthy help around him. Amen.

Your request has come before us and we have carried it to the throne of grace. You have asked for work, whether to keep your place at ### or to find a new one, and for a large provision to pay for your motel, your child support, your lawyer and your phone, and for blessing upon a new girlfriend. We hear in this the burden of one who knows what it is to be out of work or to feel his means failing, and to walk in darkness and ask, why am I thus.

We pray first for your soul, that you may be made a child of God and then a weaned child. The psalmist says, My soul is even as a weaned child. The weaning child has strong desires and frets, but the weaned child is content and lies still in his parent's bosom. So we ask the Lord to give you sufficient grace to be weaned from covetousness and from sighing for great riches or position, and to make you content in the bosom of your Father, while He in His fatherly wisdom supplies what you truly need.

We do pray that God would provide for you through honest labour, either by keeping the door open where you are or by opening another in His providence, that you may eat the bread of diligence and not of idleness. We ask that He would help you to provide faithfully for your children, for we are warned, Do not sin against the child. May He give you grace to meet your duty with integrity, to act wisely with your lawyer, and to be a faithful steward in paying for your dwelling and your other needs, seeking daily bread rather than abundance for its own sake.

Concerning your new girlfriend, we cannot ask God to bless a relationship as though He would set His seal upon what lies outside His holy ordinance. Marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and that alone is the place for the union of love. What we do ask is that God would bless you both by bringing you to Himself. We pray that you may receive the kingdom of God as a little child, humbly, without thought of merit or purchase, sitting at Jesus feet to hear His words and trusting in Christ alone for salvation. For regeneration must come first, and sanctification will follow. If this friendship is to continue, we pray it may be in purity and in the fear of God, either ordered in holiness toward that covenant of marriage if it be His will, or restrained by His grace. We pray that you both may be kept from the unfruitful works of darkness and may walk in the light as He is in the light.

May the Lord make you to know Christ as your Brother and your Saviour, who tells His heart out and is lowly and gracious to all who come to Him as children. May He lift you from darkness into light, give you a holy awe of the Father and gracious obedience to the Son, and keep you in fellowship with Him.

We lay you and all these burdens before the Lord, asking not for our will but for His mercy and holiness to be formed in you.
