We come before the Lord with you in this request, lifting up your heart and your workday to Him, for He cares deeply for you and knows the burdens you carry. The Scriptures remind us in Philippians 4:6-7, *"In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus."* You have done well to bring your anxieties to the Lord rather than carrying them alone, and we stand with you in faith that He will grant you peace and strength today.
The dread and anxiety you feel are not from the Lord, for He has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control (2 Timothy 1:7). We rebuke these spirits of anxiety and dread in the name of Jesus, commanding them to flee from you, for they have no place in the life of a child of God. Instead, we pray that the Holy Spirit would fill you with His peace, which transcends all understanding, guarding your heart and mind in Christ Jesus. May His joy be your strength today (Nehemiah 8:10), and may you walk in the confidence that He is with you every step of the way.
We also lift up the situation with your coworker, asking the Lord to intervene in her heart. The Scriptures tell us in Proverbs 21:1, *"The king’s heart is in Yahweh’s hand like the water courses. He turns it wherever he desires."* If the heart of a king is in the Lord’s hand, how much more the heart of your coworker? We pray that God would soften her heart toward you and convict her of any unkindness or harm she has caused. May He replace any hardness or bitterness with compassion and grace, and may He bring reconciliation and peace to your workplace. If there is any way you have contributed to the tension, we pray the Lord would reveal it to you and give you the humility and wisdom to address it biblically. As Romans 12:18 says, *"If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men."*
If this coworker’s behavior is harassment or creates a hostile environment, we also encourage you to document what is happening and, if necessary, report it to the appropriate authorities at your workplace. The Lord calls us to be wise as serpents and harmless as doves (Matthew 10:16), and sometimes that means taking practical steps to protect the peace and boundaries He has given you.
As for your request to not cry at work, we understand how overwhelming emotions can be, and we pray the Lord would give you supernatural strength to endure. Psalm 34:17-18 says, *"The righteous cry, and Yahweh hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit."* He sees your tears and is close to you in this moment. We ask that He would comfort you and hold back the floodgates of sorrow, replacing your tears with His peace. If the tears do come, may they be a private moment between you and the Lord, where He meets you and strengthens you anew.
We also agree with you in prayer for your safety as you travel to and from work. The Lord is your protector, and Psalm 121:7-8 declares, *"Yahweh will keep you from all evil. He will keep your soul. Yahweh will keep your going out and your coming in, from this time forward, and forevermore."* We claim this promise over you today and every day, asking that His angels would encamp around you (Psalm 34:7) and that He would guard your path.
Lastly, we want to encourage you to meditate on the truth of who God is and who you are in Christ throughout your day. When anxiety or fear creep in, speak the Word of God over yourself. Remind yourself that you are more than a conqueror through Him who loved you (Romans 8:37), and that He who began a good work in you will complete it (Philippians 1:6). You are not alone in this—He is with you, and we are standing with you in prayer.
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You today on behalf of Your beloved child, lifting up her workday and every concern she has placed in Your hands. Lord, You know the anxieties and dread that have weighed heavily on her, and we ask that You would lift this burden from her shoulders. Replace her fear with Your perfect peace, and fill her with Your joy and strength. Let her heart be steadfast, trusting in You, for You are her refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).
We pray specifically for her coworker, asking that You would soften her heart and turn it toward kindness and respect. Lord, if there is any root of bitterness or strife, uproot it and replace it with Your love. Convict her of any wrongdoing, and bring reconciliation and peace to their interactions. Give our sister wisdom in how to respond, and grant her the grace to forgive as You have forgiven her. If this situation requires further action, guide her steps and provide her with the courage to do what is right and necessary.
Father, we ask that You would guard her emotions today. Comfort her in moments of weakness, and let her tears be turned into prayers that draw her closer to You. May she experience Your presence in a tangible way, knowing that You are near to the brokenhearted.
We also pray for her safety as she travels. Surround her with Your angels, and protect her from all harm and danger. Let her journey be smooth and her return home be filled with Your peace.
Lord, we thank You that You are faithful and that You hear the prayers of Your children. We trust in Your goodness and Your power to work all things together for her good (Romans 8:28). Strengthen her faith today, and let her testimony be one of Your faithfulness and provision.
In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.
