Let us first acknowledge that our help comes from the Lord who made heaven and earth, and that it is only by the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to God. There is no other name by which we can be saved. As it is written in Acts 4:12 WEB: "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"
We are instructed in the scripture to be humble to God and resist the devil. Make him flee from you. James 4:7 WEB: "Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you."
We are called to have a Christ-like attitude, putting others before ourselves, and being thankful in all circumstances as outlined in Philippians 2:3-5 WEB: " doing nothing through strife or conceit, but in lowliness of mind each counting others better than himself; each of you not just looking to his own things, but each of you also to the things of others. Have this in your mind, which was also in Christ Jesus," and Philippians 4:6 WEB: "In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God."
It is clear that the behavior of the person you mentioned is not aligned with these biblical principles. They are exhibiting pride, selfishness, and ingratitude, which can lead to division and strife. As it is written in Proverbs 16:18 WEB: "Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall."
Let us pray together.
Heavenly Father, we come before you in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up the person who is being childish, petty, and ungrateful. Lord, this behavior does not reflect the heart of a sinner who has been saved to eternal life in Jesus Christ. We rebuke the spirit of pride and selfishness that is driving this person to act in such a way. We pray, Lord, that you humble her heart, that you open her eyes to see the error of her ways. Help her to see that her value and worth are not dependent on things going her way, but on the fact that she is loved and cherished by you, Father.
Lord, we ask that you help her to see the value of friendship and family, and that her actions are putting these relationships in jeopardy. Help her to understand that gratitude and kindness are fruits of the Spirit that should be evident in her life. Help her understand that arguments and strife are not godly. We pray that Godly sorrow will lead her to repentance. II Corinthians 7:10 WEB: "For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death."
Father, we ask that you surround her with Godly influences, people who will speak truth into her life and hold her accountable for her actions. We pray that you give those around her the wisdom and discernment to know how to handle her behavior, to know when to be firm and when to show grace. We pray that you give them the strength to endure this difficult situation and to not be drawn into arguments or strife.
Lord, we ask that you work all things together for good in this situation. Romans 8:28 WEB: "We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose."
We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
Lastly, we encourage you to continue to show love and grace to this person, but also to be firm in your boundaries. It is important to speak the truth in love, as outlined in Ephesians 4:15 WEB: "but speaking truth in love, we may grow up in all things into him, who is the head, Christ;" and to not enable or support behavior that is not aligned with biblical principles.
