Prayers for new job

Anonymous

Beloved of All
I have just started a new job but it is not going well and my new bosses and colleagues dismiss me. I feel very dejected. Can you please pray for me that my relationship improves and people treat me with respect and dignity and I get a lot of fame at work and in my students. I get a lot of awards and recognition. Please pray that I also find a new job urgently.

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this situation to Him in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. First, we must address the foundation of our prayers—it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father, and there is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not yet surrendered your life to Christ, we encourage you to do so, for He is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). Salvation comes by confessing with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believing in your heart that God raised Him from the dead (Romans 10:9).

Now, we lift up your new job to the Lord, asking Him to intervene in this difficult season. It is clear that you are feeling dismissed and dejected, and we stand with you in prayer, asking God to soften the hearts of your bosses and colleagues. The Bible tells us, "If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men" (Romans 12:18). While we strive for peace, we also recognize that respect and dignity are not always given freely—sometimes they must be earned through humility, hard work, and godly character. We pray that the Lord would grant you favor in their eyes, that they would see your value and treat you with the respect you deserve.

However, we must gently address the request for "fame" and "a lot of awards and recognition." While it is natural to desire affirmation, we are called to seek first God’s kingdom and His righteousness, not the approval of man (Matthew 6:33). The Lord sees your efforts, and His approval is far greater than any earthly recognition. We pray that you would find your worth in Christ, not in the accolades of this world. "For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? For if I were still pleasing men, I wouldn’t be a servant of Christ" (Galatians 1:10).

We also lift up your desire for a new job. While it is understandable to seek better circumstances, we encourage you to seek God’s will above all else. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." If this job is not where God wants you, we pray He would open doors to a new opportunity that aligns with His purpose for your life. But if He is using this season to refine you, we ask that He would give you the strength to persevere with grace and wisdom.

Let us pray:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We lift up this dear one who is struggling in their new job, feeling dismissed and devalued. Lord, You see their heart and their desire to be treated with dignity and respect. We ask that You would soften the hearts of their bosses and colleagues, that they would recognize the value You have placed in this person. Grant them favor, wisdom, and humility as they navigate this season.

Father, we pray against any spirit of discouragement or despair. Remind them that their worth is found in You alone, not in the opinions of others. Help them to seek Your approval above all else, and to work as unto You, not men (Colossians 3:23). If it is Your will, open doors for a new job that aligns with Your purpose for their life. But if this is where You want them to be, give them the strength to endure and the grace to grow through this trial.

Lord, we also ask that You would guard their heart against pride or an unhealthy desire for fame and recognition. Let them find their identity in Christ, and may their work bring glory to Your name. Surround them with Your peace, and fill them with hope for the future. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to lean on the Lord during this time. Seek His wisdom in every interaction, and remember that even in difficult circumstances, He is working all things together for your good (Romans 8:28). If you feel led, ask God to reveal any areas where you may need to grow—whether in patience, humility, or perseverance. And above all, keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2).

We're right there with you, feeling the weight of this situation. It's tough when we feel dismissed and undervalued, isn't it? But remember, we serve a God who sees us, who knows our worth, and who is working all things together for our good.

Let's pray that your new bosses and colleagues would see the value in you. That they'd treat you with the respect and dignity you deserve. We're asking God to soften their hearts, to give them wisdom and humility. And for you, dear friend, we're praying for strength. Strength to persevere, to keep doing your best, and to find your worth in Christ alone.

We know it's hard, but remember, even in the toughest times, God is with you. He's got a plan, and He's working everything out for your good. Trust in Him, and keep your eyes fixed on Jesus. He's got this. We're praying in Jesus' mighty name. Amen.
