Prayers For My Sister

Asheemere

Disciple of Prayer
Please pray for my sister. She’s been feeling like God doesn’t care about her or love her because of her struggles and mistakes. Please pray that she would experience God’s love, peace, and presence and be reminded that His love isn’t based on her performance.

We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts for your ###, lifting her up in prayer as she wrestles with feelings of abandonment and doubt. It is a painful place to be, when the weight of struggles and mistakes clouds the truth of God’s unchanging love. But we declare with boldness that His love is not earned, nor is it withdrawn because of failure. The Word of God assures us, "For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from God’s love which is in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 8:38-39). Your ### is not forgotten, nor is she unloved, she is held in the palm of the One who gave everything to redeem her.

We rebuke the lies of the enemy that whisper condemnation and isolation. The accuser would have her believe she is beyond grace, but Scripture tells us, "There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus" (Romans 8:1). If she has placed her faith in Jesus, she is clothed in His righteousness, not her own. We pray that the Holy Spirit would break through the darkness and reveal to her the depth of Christ’s sacrifice, His love demonstrated on the cross, where He bore her shame so she could walk in freedom. May she hear His voice speaking tenderly, "I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with loving kindness I have drawn you" (Jeremiah 31:3).

Father, we ask You to flood her heart with Your peace, a peace that surpasses understanding, guarding her mind and emotions in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Let her experience Your presence in tangible ways: through Your Word, through the encouragement of fellow believers, and through the quiet assurance that You are near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18). Remind her that Your love is not a reward for perfection, but a gift of grace. Help her to rest in the truth that "while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8). May she lay down the burden of performance and run to You, the only One who can satisfy the longing of her soul.

We also pray for wisdom and compassion for those around her. Give her family and friends the right words to speak life into her spirit, pointing her back to the cross where love and mercy meet. Let her see Your hand at work in her life, even in the midst of struggles, for You are faithful to complete the good work You began in her (Philippians 1:6). Strengthen her faith, Lord, and help her to fix her eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of her faith (Hebrews 12:2).

If your ### has not yet surrendered her life to Christ, we pray that this season of doubt would lead her to the foot of the cross, where she can find forgiveness and new life. There is no other name by which we can be saved, only through Jesus can she know the Father and experience His love (Acts 4:12, John 14:6). If she has wandered from her faith, we ask that You draw her back with cords of kindness, for You are the Good Shepherd who leaves the ninety-nine to rescue the one (Luke 15:4-7).

We stand in agreement with you, believing that God will move mightily in her life. May she rise from this place of despair with a renewed sense of purpose, knowing that she is deeply loved, not because of what she does, but because of who You are. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

It’s so hard to watch someone you love feel that God has turned away from them. When our struggles and mistakes seem to pile up, the enemy whispers that we must have exhausted God’s patience, but that isn’t true. God’s love doesn’t rise and fall with our performance; it’s anchored in who He is, not in what we manage to get right. Sometimes the most powerful reminder of that isn’t a sermon, but a quiet presence that won’t give up.

We think your sister might need to hear, more with actions than words, that she is welcome just as she is. Maybe you could take her out for coffee or a walk, no agenda, and simply say, “I love you, and I’m not going anywhere. I believe God’s love for you is far deeper than anything you’ve done.” You don’t have to argue her out of her feelings. Just being a steady, loving witness can begin to open the door for her to experience God’s gentleness again.

We’re praying that the Holy Spirit would quiet the accusing voices she hears and give her a tangible sense of God’s peace, the peace that comes when we realize His grace meets us in our need, not in our perfection. And we ask for wisdom for you, to know when to speak and when to simply sit with her in the ache.

Jesus, we lift up this sister to You. She feels forgotten and unworthy, but You know her completely and love her anyway. Let her feel that love like warmth on her skin. Replace the lie that she must earn Your affection with the truth that she is already held in Your mercy. Steady her heart, quiet her fears, and draw near to her tonight. Let her rest in Your presence, and let her sister be a mirror of Your faithful care. In Your name, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

It is a common error to measure God’s love by our own feelings, as though His heart were as fickle as ours. We all make mistakes, and therefore we imagine that God does the same, but He is not deceived by outward appearances; He looks at the heart. The sister who aches under the weight of her struggles and mistakes has fallen into this very snare, thinking the Lord’s affection waxes and wanes with her performance. Yet when we see the beauties of everlasting love gleaming in the face of the Lord Jesus Christ, every power of our being seems to say, “I must trust in Him and rest in Him alone.” Tell her this: His love is not a reward for the perfect, but a fountain for the filthy. He gave them more, and more, and more, until, by the wondrous power of His grace, He slew their enmity and caused love to take its place.

You ask me to pray that she would experience God’s love, peace, and presence. Then let her fix her mind upon the text, “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You: because he trusts in You.” Peace! Perfect peace! The blood of Jesus whispers peace within, not peace earned by her own striving, but peace purchased at the cross. Great peace have they which love Your law, yet this peace can exist when strife rages all around. It is not the absence of sorrow, but the presence of the Savior. Bear your sorrow with Him and then see what peace, what perfect peace, you will enjoy, even with sorrows surging round. The Lord is not like a man who withholds forgiveness until he sees amendment; no, He delights to forgive, to restore, to woo the wandering heart back to His bosom. Love abounding, love lamenting, love abiding, this is the way of our God. If He chides us for withholding our love-tokens, it is because He values our love and is grieved when it grows cold. He would have her know that His love is not built upon her loveliness, but upon His own nature.

Let her not imagine that her mistakes have shut her out from His affection. For what man is there on the face of the earth who does not make mistakes? The Lord knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust. It is to such poor, broken creatures that He speaks: “I have loved thee with an everlasting love.” His love is not like ours, so easily soured by offenses. No, it is love abiding, remaining constant to its objective, notwithstanding all the provocations which have grieved it. She may feel that her sins have made her unlovable, but that is precisely the moment when the divine love shines brightest. I am sure that if she has been with the Lord in private prayer and He has lifted her up to His bosom and revealed His secret thoughts of love, she will smite upon her breast and say, “Such love as His to such a worm as I am is altogether too great.” Yet this very humbling is the doorway to peace.

Press upon her this truth: the Lord desires not a slavish fear, but a willing love. Who can refuse to be vanquished by love? He conquers not by threats but by tenderness. Can the wish of a dear friend be trivial to those who love him? Jesus says, “If ye love me, keep my commandments,” yet even our obedience is but a response to His prior love. Let her pour out her heart to Him, tell the Savior how she loves Him, even if it be but a spark. Rehearse His deeds of grace toward her. To sit down, or kneel, or walk, and say, “My gracious Lord, I do love You. Teach me to love You more”, this is the sweetest form of devotion. And as she does so, that spark, born of His own eternal flame, shall never be quenched.

You long for her to know that His love isn’t based on her performance. Then let her cease from her labors and simply trust. It is by trusting that we enter into peace. Simple faith and experimental prudence make up a sacred milk and wine, calm patience and rapturous love blend most deliciously. The Lord loves His people and makes the most of them, even in their weakness. He does not demand flawlessness before He embraces; He embraces in order to produce flawlessness. When we love God’s law, we reach forward to the peace of resignation, acquiescing in His will. It is of no use to quarrel with God. Instead, let her fall into His arms.

I pray the Lord to give her many tokens of His presence. May she find that the love of Christ passes knowledge, yet may she taste it, eat it, drink it abundantly. Let nothing lie by, let her take in the whole truth concerning His Person and love by meditation, contemplation, and reverent simplicity. And as she does, this will be her song: “Peace, perfect peace, death shadowing us and ours? Jesus has vanquished death and all its powers.” For when a soul is anchored in Christ, not even her own failures can separate her from His love. It is enough! Earth’s struggles soon shall cease, and Jesus calls us to Heaven’s perfect peace.

Listen to the war being waged within her heart. Two thoughts are fighting together. One rises from the memory of her struggles and mistakes and tells her that God’s care is a reward she has forfeited. The other, the truth, bids her to endure this despondency and look not to her own performance but to His mercy. Which thought will hold the prize? Let not anger, let not a downcast spirit, act as umpire. Let the peace of God stand forward and bestow the victory upon the thought that bids her hope.

Do not think that His love is given little by little, measured out according to our worthiness. The flame of His love is made apparent precisely in this, that He did not wait for our labors. The love of God is shed abroad in our hearts, not given sparingly, but poured out in profusion. This gift, which is more precious than heaven and earth, He bestowed upon us while we were yet disgraced, making us sons from being enemies. If therefore she feels unworthy, let her despond not; she has the very love of her Judge as a mighty pleader for her. This hope does not make ashamed, for it ascribes everything not to our well-doings, but to God’s love.

Remind her that Christ entered into Heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us. He went up with a sacrifice having power to propitiate the Father. He did not do this for those who had made no mistakes, but for us. The peace of God is fixed and steadfast because it comes not from man, but from His own will. He made peace not having received anything of us. This is the peace that must rule in her heart. If love and peace are present, faith illuminates the good things to come, giving a cheerful confidence. Tell her that peace towards God and love are hers, and that without faith, love amounts to nothing; but with it, she has the full fountain of His blessings.
