Jus-a-girl-who-loves-Jesus

Disciple of Prayer
My parents have been married my whole life and recently my dad mentioned that he might be moving away and I believe he met another woman. This breaks my heart and I can't imagine him leaving our family for a stranger. Lord please restore my parents marriage and protect their love. I rebuke any plan the enemy has to destroy what you joined together in Jesus mighty name Amen

Treatment of Parents
We are deeply moved by your heartbreak and we stand with you in prayer for your parents and your family, for we know how painful it is to see the foundation of your home shaken. Your love for your parents and your desire to see their marriage restored honors God, and we join you in rebuking any plan of the enemy to destroy what God has joined together.

We believe marriage is a sacred and lifelong covenant between a man and a woman before God, and He intends for it to be held in honor and kept pure. Scripture teaches us in Matthew 19:6, What therefore God has joined together, don't let man tear apart. And in Hebrews 13:4, Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers. If your father has indeed turned his affection toward another woman, we must speak the truth in love that this would be adultery, which is sin before God and deeply destructive to the family. God says in Malachi 2:16 that He hates divorce, not because He wishes to condemn, but because He knows the pain and brokenness it brings. We also remember the call in Ephesians 5:25 for husbands to love their wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly and gave himself up for it. This love is sacrificial, faithful, and committed, not fleeting or based on new attraction.

We rebuke the spirit of adultery and division that seeks to lure your father away and we pray that every temptation and ungodly relationship would be exposed and cut off. We also pray that your father would be convicted by the Holy Spirit, turn from any sinful path, and remember the vows he made before God. We encourage you to continue to honor both your mother and father as the Lord commands, while also not condoning sin. Continue to pray fervently, speak truth with grace when the Lord gives you opportunity, and encourage your parents to seek wise, biblical counsel from a pastor or godly counselor together. The Lord is able to restore what seems broken, and nothing is impossible for Him when there is repentance and forgiveness.

We join our faith with yours now and lift your parents up before the throne of grace.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus and we thank You that You are the restorer and healer of marriages. We lift up this dear mother and father to You and ask that You would place a hedge of protection around their covenant. Lord, convict this father of any unfaithfulness in thought or deed and turn his heart fully back to You and to his wife. Remove any other woman from his path and help him to flee from sexual immorality as taught in 1 Corinthians 6:18. Pour out Your grace upon this mother, comfort her heart, give her strength and peace that surpasses understanding, and help her to forgive as You have forgiven us in Ephesians 4:32. We ask that You would restore love, trust, communication, and faithfulness between them, and that their marriage would be a testimony of Your redeeming power. We pray for this child who is hurting, that You would give peace, hope, and assurance that You are near to the brokenhearted in Psalm 34:18 and that You are working all things for good for those who love You in Romans 8:28. Let Your will be done in this family and let no weapon formed against them prosper. We pray all of this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

We hear how heavy this is for you, watching the marriage that has shaped your whole life feel so fragile right now. It makes sense that you would feel heartbroken and helpless hearing your dad talk about moving away and wondering if someone else is involved.

You love both of your parents deeply, and it is a lot to carry this worry for them. We want to gently remind you that while your prayers matter so much, the weight of holding their marriage together is not yours to carry alone. You can love them, pray for them, and still let the adults do the adult work of sorting out what comes next.

It may help to have one safe person to walk with you in this, not to fix things but to support you. If you have a trusted pastor, youth leader, school counselor, or another steady family member, consider letting them know what you are carrying so you are not holding it by yourself. Continuing to show respect and love to both your mom and dad, without trying to be the go-between, can also protect your own heart.

Father, we lift this family to You and ask for Your mercy and presence in their home. Comfort this child in the ache and uncertainty, give wisdom and honesty to both parents, and guard what You have joined together. Lead each of them toward what is true and good, and give this young person peace as they trust You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Your grief over your father's wandering and your mother's sorrow has been brought before the Lord, and we join our hearts with yours in prayer for the preservation of that holy covenant which God Himself has joined together.

We know how sharp is this wound, for the marriage union is not a light thing. It is, as the Scripture says, that two shall become one, cemented by mutual love and by solemn choice before God. It is not a bond to be broken at will, but a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, wherein fidelity and purity belong. What God has joined, let not man put asunder. When that bond is threatened, the heart rightly trembles, and it is right that you should rebuke the designs of the enemy who would destroy it.

Take comfort in this, that our God is the God of peace, and He has prepared everything that is necessary for perfect reconciliation. As we have often preached, there was a long quarrel between God and man, yet He provided the way of reconciliation through the blood of His Son, and He has committed unto us the word of reconciliation. If He can reconcile sinners to Himself, He is able also to reconcile husband and wife when sin has come between them. Nothing is too hard for Him.

Remember also Peter in his fall. He denied his Lord, and went out into the cold night, yet the Lord looked upon him, and that look severed him from the crowd and broke his heart unto repentance. The Lord had prayed for him, that his faith fail not, and his fall was not final, for his restoration was sure. One writer has well said the story should rather be called Peter's restoration than Peter's fall. So we pray that the same Lord who prayed for Peter will look upon your father with that same effectual grace, that he may hear as it were the crowing of the cock to awaken his conscience, and see the look of Christ to melt his heart, and be turned again from the path he contemplates.

We do not pray that God would bless any union outside that covenant, for He cannot bless what His Word calls sin. Rather we pray that He would convict, restrain, and restore. We pray that your father may be brought to see that there is no good in wandering from the way of righteousness, that he may return to his first love and to his earliest vows, and that he may be strengthened to strengthen his own household.

Let us pray together.

O gracious Father, who hast ordained marriage from the beginning and hast said, I am married unto you, look in mercy upon this family. Thou knowest the temptation and the snare that has been laid for this husband and father. By Thy Holy Spirit, awaken his conscience, turn his feet from the strange path, and grant him repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, through whom alone is salvation. Restore, we beseech Thee, the love that was vowed at the altar, and knit these two again as one in holy affection and fidelity. Comfort the wife in her distress and the child who weeps for them both, and bind Thy truth continually upon their hearts. Let the power of the cross, where the Lamb proved His love, be felt in this home, that reconciliation may be worked at once by Thy Spirit, and that what the enemy meant for destruction may become occasion for a deeper and more steadfast love. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who ever liveth to make intercession for us. Amen.
