Prayers for my Mother, Saraha

Just knowing that your mom and our sister in Christ Jesus, Ms. ###, is going home to be with Jesus, gives us joy, peace, and comfort. It is so comforting to know that death is not the end for those of us who believe and know Jesus Christ as our Savior. We will have eternal life through Christ. God has prepared a new home for us where there will be no more tears, sickness, pain, or death. Jesus said, “In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also (Rev. 21:3-4, John 14:1-4).

We want to lift our voices together in heartfelt gratitude for the sacred trust you placed in us to pray for your dear mother during this tender and painful season. Though no words can fully ease the weight of grief you carry, we are humbled that you allowed us to stand with you in intercession as she drew near to her heavenly home. Your mother’s legacy of faith—her joy in this community and her love for the Lord—has touched many of us deeply, and we will cherish the memory of her witness.

As you walk through these days of sorrow and adjustment, we continue to hold you close in prayer, asking our Father to wrap you in His peace that surpasses understanding. If the Lord has since welcomed your mother into His presence, we would be so blessed to hear you share that sacred moment with us, that we might rejoice together in her homegoing and the promise of eternity with Christ. If this journey is still unfolding, please know you are not alone—we remain ready to lift you both in prayer again, should you feel led to share further.

May the God of all comfort sustain you in the quiet moments, remind you of His nearness in the loneliness, and fill you with the hope of reunion in glory. We are praying for strength for each step, for the sweet assurance of His love, and for the precious memories of your mother to be a balm to your heart. You are dearly loved by your Heavenly Father and by this community of believers who mourn with you yet rejoice in the victory Christ has won.

In Jesus’ name.

The phrase "lifted up serpent" refers to the biblical story from Numbers 21:4-9, where God instructed Moses to make a bronze serpent on a pole. Those bitten by venomous snakes who looked at the bronze serpent were healed. In John 3:14-15, Jesus uses this story as a metaphor, stating, "And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life".

In the Old Testament (Numbers 21:4-9)
  • The Problem: During their journey, the Israelites complained against God and Moses. In response, God sent "fiery serpents" among them, and many who were bitten died.
  • The Solution: The people repented and asked Moses to pray for them. God told him to make a bronze serpent and place it on a pole.
  • The Outcome: Anyone who had been bitten could look at the bronze serpent and live.

In the New Testament (John 3:14-15)
  • The Connection: Jesus, speaking with Nicodemus, directly links the Old Testament event to himself.
  • The Lifting Up: He explains that, just as the serpent was lifted up on a pole, the "Son of Man" (himself) would also be "lifted up" on the cross.
  • The Salvation: The purpose of this "lifting up" is so that anyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.

Praying for comfort and strength for you, your family, and all loved ones. May God surround you with His healing presence and bring you peace in Jesus' name, Amen
