Your love and concern for your mother is clear, and we are joining you in prayer for her.
What you did when you placed your hand on her leg and prayed was a real step of faith, and God is pleased when we trust Him in that way. Scripture tells us that without faith it is impossible to please God, and it holds up examples like Abel who offered his sacrifice in faith and Enoch who walked with God and pleased Him. That same trust is what God delights to see in us, a simple dependence on Him rather than just going through actions without faith.
Faith is not blind. It actually sees more than sight does. It is the substance of what we hope for and the confidence about what we cannot yet see. It looks beyond the visible problem to the promises and character of God. Your prayer that your mother would not only feel better physically but most importantly be close to the Lord shows that kind of sight. That closeness is where true comfort comes from, and it is the greatest need for each of us.
The Bible also shows that there is a difference between believing God can do something and actively trusting Him to do it now. Many people in the Gospels believed Jesus was able to heal, but healing came when they reached out and released that faith, like the woman who believed if she could just touch the edge of His garment she would be made whole. Jesus told her it was her faith that had made her whole. When you laid your hand on your mother, you gave faith a point of action. Keep bringing her to Jesus in that same way, not turning away until you have asked and trusted Him to help. God honors that kind of persistent, desperate faith, like the mother who would not stop pleading for her daughter.
At the same time, having faith does not automatically mean we will never suffer or that every pain will leave instantly. Scripture tells us that some people of great faith still suffered, were tortured, and even died in faith without having received all that was promised in this life. It often takes greater faith to keep holding on to God when we do not understand why pain remains and when healing seems slow. Your mother's recent surgery and now this intense pain in her thigh are real afflictions, and it is right to keep asking for healing while also continuing to trust God through the waiting.
True faith also shows itself in life. Works do not create faith, but real faith will change how we live. If we truly believe God, our lives begin to reflect it. So as you pray for your mother's body, continue to pray as you have that she would walk more closely with the Lord, find her comfort in Him, and find renewed strength to move and be active again. That desire for her spiritual health to be restored is the most important part of your prayer.
We are praying with you now that the Lord would touch your mother's body, ease the pain in her thigh, complete her recovery from surgery, and give her strength and desire to be more active. We are asking that He would draw her close to Himself through Jesus Christ, who alone brings us righteousness and peace with God when we put our faith in Him, and that she would know His comfort and presence each day. We trust Him to do what is best according to His wisdom and love, and we keep looking to Him with confidence.
May the Lord give you peace as you continue to care for her and keep trusting Him together.
