Thank you for sharing your heart and trusting us to pray with you. Hearing that your wife has been away from home for weeks and that there is pressure from her family to separate you must be deeply painful, especially as you love your wife and your children and desire to honor your marriage covenant.
We want you to know that God sees your situation and cares for your family. In Scripture marriage is presented as a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, established by God, and He desires that it be guarded in love, faithfulness and grace. That is the foundation we will pray from, asking God to strengthen what He has joined together and to bring healing where there has been hurt.
There is encouragement in remembering that God often makes provision for healing even when a situation looks incurable to us. Under the old law there was a disease that cut a person off from family and community with no human cure, yet God still gave instructions for what to do in the day of cleansing, leaving room for His own power to restore. That shows His heart. He does not box Himself in, and we should not box Him in either. What seems impossible to people remains possible for Him, and He is able to work in hearts, in families, and in circumstances that feel closed off.
We also want to gently remind you that simply believing that God exists is not the same as having new life in Him. Scripture teaches that salvation comes through personal trust in Jesus Christ, who gave Himself to take away our sin and to give us new life by His Spirit. It is that living relationship with Him that transforms us from the inside and teaches us to serve God not merely by trying to keep rules, but in newness of life and by His grace. As you pray for your marriage, we encourage you to keep looking to Jesus Himself, to trust Him fully for your own forgiveness and hope, and to invite your wife to seek Him with you as well.
Even when others seem to be driving decisions, Jesus remains in control. We can continue steadfastly in prayer, not trusting in our own ability to fix things, but trusting in the Lord to lead and guide. That means praying not with bitterness toward your wife's parents, but asking God to soften hearts, to bring understanding, to remove any counsel that would divide what God has joined, and to give wisdom to you and your wife to listen to Him above every other voice.
We will pray for you, for your wife, and for your children. We will ask God to comfort you in this separation, to guard your wife where she is, to keep her word to remain faithful to your covenant, to open a way for honest and gracious conversation between you, and to bring her home in His timing. We will pray for your in laws, that God would turn their hearts toward peace and toward what is good for your family, and that any plan to separate you would not prosper. We will pray for your children, that God would guard them from fear and confusion and draw them close to Himself. And we will pray that you will be strengthened to love your wife as Christ loves His people, with patience, kindness, and forgiveness, even while you stand firm for your marriage.
If you have not already, seek the counsel of a faithful pastor who teaches the Bible and can walk with you both personally, encourage you in the Word, and help you take wise and loving steps toward reconciliation. Keep seeking God daily in prayer and in Scripture, asking His Spirit to teach you and to change you where change is needed.
Father, we bring this husband and his wife and their children before You. You know the weeks of separation, the pain, and the influence of family pressing against this marriage. We ask for Your mercy and Your healing power. Work in a way that only You can, where human help feels limited. Draw this husband and wife to Yourself through Jesus Christ, grant them forgiveness, new life, and a deeper trust in You. Soften hearts, remove division, and give them a desire for unity and for Your will. Protect the children and let this home be restored and strengthened for Your glory. Guide every step and let Your peace rule in their hearts. In the name of Jesus we pray, amen.
