Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The sorrow you feel is not without cause, for your husband’s soul is caught in a snare that drags him from truth and from you, the wife of his covenant. These so‑called conversations with phantoms of the internet are no different from the adulterous passions stirred by the theatre in our own day, which the Apostle warned against. Just as a man who frequents the stage feeds his eyes on harlots and is thereby drawn away from his own wife, so your husband, though he knows they are deceivers, gives his heart to shadows, and this is a kind of spiritual adultery. The evil one uses these empty images to steal his affection and to plant division in your home. This is not a mere pastime; it is a sickness of the soul, a demonic delusion that he, like a man drunk, cannot see.

But do not despair, nor think that you must leave him. The blessed Paul commands, “If any wife has an unbelieving husband, and he consents to dwell with her, let her not leave him. For the unbelieving husband is sanctified in the wife.” Your husband, though baptized perhaps, is acting as one who does not believe, yet you, by your patient and chaste conduct, may win him back to Christ. Do not think to reclaim him by constant reproaches or by bitterness; rather, a wife truly pleases her husband and draws him from folly not by outward adornment or sharp words, but by gentleness, by modesty, by a meek and quiet spirit. If he is so far fallen that he runs after these online harlots, no amount of anger from you will hinder him; he will go after them all the more. But if he sees in you a quiet and holy soul, one who does not return evil for evil but prays for him and shows him respect still, his heart may be pierced, and he may be ashamed and repent.

Above all, pray without ceasing. The Lord Jesus, who revealed to the Samaritan woman the hidden shame of her life, saying, “Thou hast had five husbands, and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband,” is not far from your household. He sees the secret folly of your husband’s heart, and He can, by a word, call him to account as He did her. Entreat the Lord to send His grace, that your husband may come to himself like the prodigal, and see that he is spending his soul on husks. Ask the prayers of the Church as you have done, and do not grow weary. Let your home become a school of virtue and your own conduct a silent sermon.

Remember also that repentance is always open to the fallen; there is no sin too great for the mercy of God, if only we turn back with tears. Christ’s sacrifice is once for all, and He does not extinguish the hope of the penitent. So do not look upon your husband with the eyes of final judgment, but as a sick man who needs the Physician. Yet be wise: do not yourself be drawn into curiosity about his online activities, but guard your own heart with prayer and fasting, and keep yourself pure for the Lord, that you may be a vessel of honor, fit for the Master’s use.

Arm yourself with patience and with the divine Scriptures, and let your tears be known to God, not to the world. He who hears the sigh of the oppressed will surely visit you and bring your husband to his right mind. May the Lord cut off the devices of the evil one, and make your marriage a lamp of faith and fidelity in this dark and adulterous generation.

You are carrying an incredibly heavy burden right now, and your tears over this are no small thing. It is right to bring this before the Lord with such urgency, because what your husband is doing is not a harmless distraction. He is giving his heart, his time, and the attention that belongs to you alone to illusions. The Scripture makes it clear that a husband does not have authority over his own body, but his wife does, and likewise the wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. When he pours himself into these conversations, even with accounts he knows are false, he is breaking that sacred trust. It is a form of unfaithfulness, and your grief over it is a righteous grief.

Your deepest desire is for him to stop and to find his way to Jesus. Those two things are bound together. The only sure path out of this snare is a walking, breathing relationship with Christ. And right now, you are sanctified and set apart for such a time as this in your home. The Word says that an unbelieving husband is sanctified by his wife. God has a claim on your household because you are there. Do not underestimate the power of that position. The most potent weapon you have is not an argument, but a life lived in reverent, chaste conduct before the Lord. When a man’s heart is hardened against the truth, as your husband’s seems to be, pushing often drives him further into his rebellion. But a quiet, steady spirit of love, coupled with a refusal to approve of the sin, speaks far louder.

This is where the beautiful and difficult order of marriage comes into play. God gave one simple rule to husbands: love your wife supremely, just as Christ loved the church. A woman’s greatest emotional need is to know she is cherished uniquely, that no one else can attract his eye or his attention. What your husband is doing is a direct assault on that need. He is making you feel you are not queen of his heart. That is his failure, and it is real sin. But God also gave one rule to wives: submit to your own husband as unto the Lord. That command becomes incredibly painful when a husband is walking in disobedience. It feels impossible to honor a man who is dishonoring you and the Lord. But submission in this context does not mean you accept his sin as good. It also does not mean you must violate your conscience. If his demands were to pull you into sin, God’s authority always comes first. But here, your submission looks like releasing the outcome to God. It means refusing to take over the role of the Holy Spirit by endlessly monitoring, scolding, or trying to control him out of his sin. You keep your own hands clean, you remain faithful in prayer, and you treat him with a respect born from your reverence for Christ, not from his worthiness of the moment.

You asked for him to stop immediately. That is a cry for sudden deliverance, and God is mighty to do it. Yet, consider what is happening in his soul. He knows these are scams, but he does not listen. That is the terrifying mark of a spirit that has not repented. There is a sorrow that leads to genuine change and a sorrow of the world that just leads to death. Getting caught or feeling the sting of consequences is not repentance. Esau wept bitterly over losing a blessing, but those were tears of anger and bitterness, not tears of a changed heart. True repentance means a turning, a death to the old life. John the Baptist demanded fruit that shows a real change. Your husband currently shows no fruit of that changed life. So, while you can certainly pray that God blocks every single attempt and breaks the spell of the scam, pray even more boldly that God would give him the gift of godly sorrow. Pray that he would not just feel bad because you are upset, but that he would be cut to the heart over his sin against a holy God and against you, his wife. That is a sorrow that produces a changed man who does not go back.

As you stand in this painful gap, do not try to be the Holy Spirit. You cannot produce his repentance. That is a miracle. Stand firm in your identity as a daughter of the King who is bound by covenant to this man for as long as he lives. Your steady love and your refusal to feed the drama of his sin, combined with your open prayers for his salvation, are the path forward. The marriage finds its harmony when a husband loves supremely and a wife submits as to the Lord. Right now, that circle is broken on his end. Your calling is to hold your piece of the circle before Jesus, entrusting your husband’s heart to the God who can turn it. May the Lord shield you with His own peace and soon bring a deep, lasting repentance that makes your husband an heir together with you of the grace of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer for your husband. It has been on our hearts to lift him before the Lord, asking for His divine intervention to break any unhealthy attachments and draw your husband closer to His own heart. We have prayed specifically that the Holy Spirit would convict him of the dangers in these online interactions and that God would remove any deception or distraction that keeps him from walking in truth.

We continue to ask the Father to soften his heart, open his eyes to the schemes of the enemy, and fill him with a hunger for righteousness. May the Lord surround him with godly influences and give him the strength to turn away from these temptations. We also pray for you, that you would be filled with peace, wisdom, and patience as you trust God’s timing and faithfulness.

If the Lord has already moved in this situation, we would love to hear a praise report so we can rejoice with you. If not, please know we are still here to stand with you in prayer—just post this request again, and we will continue to intercede on your behalf. May God bless you both as you seek Him together, and may His will be done in your marriage. We pray all these things in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
