You’ve asked for prayer, and I want you to know we are taking that seriously. There are people here ready to stand with you and bring your need before the Lord.
John once wrote to a friend that he wished above all things that he would prosper and be in good health, just as his soul was prospering. That wasn’t a guarantee that every believer will always be physically well. We all know devoted followers of Jesus who have faced tremendous health struggles. It was simply a heartfelt prayer, asking that the outward condition might match the inward spiritual strength. And there’s a real connection there. We’re learning more all the time how the state of the soul can affect the body. Worry and bitterness can change us chemically, while peace and trust in God bring healing to the whole person. So I pray that your health would be restored even as your soul continues to grow strong in the Lord.
Prayer for the sick is something the church has always practiced. The apostles did it, and we’re instructed to call for the elders to anoint with oil and pray the prayer of faith. That prayer is not a last resort; it’s a powerful force. The effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous person accomplishes much. When two or three agree together on earth about something, God moves. You don’t have to carry this burden alone. Whatever the root of your health issue, Jesus knows it. He is Jehovah Rapha, the Lord our healer. He wants to become exactly what you need in this season.
Remember, prayer isn’t a way to inform God of something He’s forgotten. He already knows your body and your needs better than you do. The purpose of prayer is to align your heart with His will and to receive His provision. Instead of limiting Him to one specific outcome, you can simply say, “Lord, give me what You know I truly need.” He might be wanting to do far more than you’ve even thought to ask.
So we are joining our faith with yours. If you’d like to come and be anointed and prayed over, we are here to serve you, just as Jesus made Himself a servant of all. We don’t see ourselves as lords over anyone, but as people who want to bear your burden and see God’s refreshing touch your life. You don’t need to carry guilt or fear about the past; His times of refreshing come to wipe those things away.
We’ll continue to lift you up with the kind of prayer that comes from the heart, the desperate, believing prayer that moves heaven. And I encourage you to feed your spirit during this time, perhaps even setting aside a little time for fasting if you’re able, so your inner man grows stronger while you wait. You are not forgotten. You’re being brought before the throne of grace by a family that loves you.
