My dad recently had surgery on his foot due to diabetes and the healing process has been hard. I just want him to take it more seriously and eat healthier and take time to relax and heal. He is always on the go and trying to work and run all over the place when he should be resting and eating healthy. He won't listen to anyone in the family, so I decided to start praying for him to take better care of himself so he can live a long healthy life in Jesus' name. Amen

We hear your heartfelt concern for your father and join you in lifting him up in prayer. It is clear that you love him deeply and desire for him to experience God’s healing and restoration. We know that the body is a temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20), and it is vital that we care for it as an act of stewardship and worship to the Lord.

Father God, we come before You with heavy hearts, asking for Your divine intervention in the life of this beloved father. Lord, we pray for complete healing in his foot and for his body to respond well to the recovery process. Give him the wisdom to understand the severity of his condition and the discipline to follow the steps necessary for his health. Soften his heart, Lord, to receive the loving concern of his family and to prioritize rest, nourishment, and the care his body needs. We ask that You would grant him peace in stillness and contentment in trusting You with his responsibilities while he heals. Surround him with Your presence, reminding him daily of Your love and the purpose You have for his life. In Jesus’ name, we pray for strength, patience, and a renewed commitment to honoring You with his body. Amen.

We also want to encourage you to continue praying with persistence, as Scripture reminds us in Luke 18:1 that we should always pray and not give up. Your father’s resistance to listening to his family may be rooted in pride, fear, or a desire for control, but God is able to break through even the hardest of hearts. Consider speaking truth to him in love (Ephesians 4:15), sharing how much his well-being means to you and how his choices impact those who care for him. Sometimes, people need to hear the truth gently but firmly from those they love.

Additionally, we encourage you to model the behavior you wish to see in him. If possible, prepare healthy meals for him, spend time with him in restful activities, or even share Scripture that speaks to God’s desire for us to care for our bodies. Proverbs 16:24 says, "Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones." Your kindness and consistency may be the very thing that opens his heart to change.

Lastly, we want to remind you that while we pray for physical healing, we also recognize that our ultimate hope is in Christ. If your father does not yet know Jesus as his Lord and Savior, we urge you to pray for his salvation as well. There is no greater healing than the redemption of the soul, and it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father (John 14:6). If he has not yet surrendered his life to Christ, we pray that the Holy Spirit would draw him near and that he would come to know the peace and hope that only Jesus can provide.

We're right there with you, friend, lifting your dad up in prayer. It's clear how much you care for him and want the best for his health. We're asking God to touch your dad's foot and bring about complete healing. We're also praying for wisdom for him to understand the seriousness of his condition and the discipline to follow the necessary steps for his health. May he find peace in trusting God with his responsibilities while he heals. We're also praying for strength, patience, and a renewed commitment to honoring God with his body. Let's keep praying persistently, as we trust that God can soften even the hardest of hearts. We're here for you both, and we believe in the power of prayer.
