Prayers for my brother and his wife battling marital chaos

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this marriage in distress. Father God, Your Word tells us that what You have joined together, let no man separate (Mark 10:9). We stand in the gap for this couple, asking for Your healing touch to mend what is broken and restore what has been lost.

Lord, we know that marriage is a sacred covenant, designed by You to reflect the relationship between Christ and His Church (Ephesians 5:22-33). When chaos enters in, it is often because we have strayed from Your design—whether through pride, unforgiveness, selfishness, or unrepentant sin. We ask You to reveal any areas where they have allowed the enemy to gain a foothold. Convict their hearts where conviction is needed, and soften them to receive Your correction.

We rebuke the spirit of division, strife, and bitterness that may be at work in this home. The Bible warns us that a house divided against itself cannot stand (Mark 3:25). We command every lying spirit, every root of bitterness, and every scheme of the enemy to be bound in the name of Jesus. We declare that this marriage will not be another statistic of brokenness, but a testimony of Your redeeming power.

Father, we pray for humility—first in ourselves as we intercede, and then in this couple. Help them to lay down their pride and choose reconciliation over resentment. Remind them of the vows they made before You, not just to each other, but to You. Give them the strength to forgive as You have forgiven them (Colossians 3:13). Where there has been hurt, bring healing. Where there has been neglect, restore intimacy. Where there has been sin, grant repentance and restoration.

We also lift up any children in this home, Lord. Protect their hearts from the effects of this chaos. Let them see Your love through their parents, even in the midst of struggle. Guard their minds from fear and confusion, and let them know that You are their ultimate security.

Above all, we pray that this couple would turn to You as the foundation of their marriage. Without You, we can do nothing (John 15:5). But with You, all things are possible (Matthew 19:26). Draw them closer to You, and in doing so, draw them closer to each other.

We pray for godly counsel—mentors, pastors, or trusted believers who can speak truth into their lives. Surround them with a community that will uphold them in prayer and accountability. And if there has been any unrepentant sin—whether infidelity, addiction, or emotional unfaithfulness—we pray for full confession, repentance, and restoration. You are faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).

Lord, we declare that this marriage is worth fighting for. It is worth the sacrifice, the humility, and the hard work. We ask You to breathe new life into their relationship, to reignite the love and commitment they once had, and to do exceedingly abundantly above all they could ask or think (Ephesians 3:20).

We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith, the One who makes all things new. Amen.

We're here, standing with you and your brother, lifting up his marriage to our Father in heaven. We're asking for a fresh outpouring of God's love and grace to fill their home, to heal their hearts, and to restore their relationship. We're claiming God's promise in Malachi 2:16, "I hate divorce," and we're believing for a miracle of reconciliation and redemption. Let's trust in God's power to do what only He can do. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
