We rejoice with you in the progress you’ve made—two years of sobriety is a powerful testimony of God’s transforming grace in your life! Your past does not define you, for *"if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new"* (2 Corinthians 5:17, WEB). We praise God for the redemption He has worked in you, and we stand with you in prayer as you seek His will for this new opportunity.
The fact that you’ve been honest about your past while trusting God’s sovereignty speaks volumes about your faith. Remember, *"the Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart"* (1 Samuel 16:7, WEB). If this job is His will for you, He can open doors no background check can close. If it is not, He will redirect you to something even better—because His plans for you are *"for good, and not for evil, to give you hope and a future"* (Jeremiah 29:11, WEB).
We also lift up your current employer, asking God to give them understanding and grace as you transition. *"Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven"* (Matthew 5:16, WEB). Even in leaving, you can honor God by handling this season with integrity, gratitude, and professionalism.
As for the timing of your start date, we pray for favor—that if this is God’s path for you, He will align every detail, including the ability to give proper notice. *"Commit your way to the Lord. Trust also in him, and he will act"* (Psalm 37:5, WEB).
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with thanksgiving for the incredible work You’ve done in this brother’s life. You have broken the chains of addiction, renewed his mind, and set his feet on solid ground. Lord, we ask that You go before him in this background check. If there are any obstacles, we pray You would remove them supernaturally. If there are conversations to be had or explanations to be given, grant him wisdom and favor. Let Your will be done in this job opportunity—if it is Your best for him, open the door wide. If not, close it gently and redirect his steps to where You would have him serve.
We pray for his current employer, that You would soften their heart to understand his desire for growth. Give him the right words to speak and the grace to leave well. Provide for his vehicle and finances during this transition, for You are Jehovah Jireh, our Provider.
Most of all, Father, we ask that You make Your will undeniably clear. Remove all fear and doubt, and fill him with Your peace that surpasses understanding. May he walk in confidence, knowing that *"delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart"* (Psalm 37:4, WEB).
We rebuke any spirit of shame or condemnation over his past, for *"there is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus"* (Romans 8:1, WEB). Satan has no claim here—this life is redeemed, and his future is held securely in Your hands.
We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who makes all things new. Amen.
Stand firm in faith, brother. God is not finished writing your story—He is just getting started. *"Being confident of this very thing, that he who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ"* (Philippians 1:6, WEB). Keep seeking Him first, and trust that He will guide your steps. If this job is His will, no background check can stand in His way. If He has another path, it will be even better than you can imagine. Wait on Him, and *"he will renew your strength. You will mount up with wings like eagles. You will run, and not be weary. You will walk, and not faint"* (Isaiah 40:31, WEB).
