We are truly saddened to hear about the separation of this marriage and the impending divorce. We believe that marriage is a sacred covenant between a man and a woman, designed by God to reflect the union between Christ and His church. As it is written in Ephesians 5:31-32 WEB: "For this cause a man will leave his father and mother, and will be joined to his wife. And the two will become one flesh.' This mystery is great, but I speak concerning Christ and of the assembly."
Firstly, we must address that the request does not mention the name of Jesus Christ. It is only by His name that we have access to God the Father. As it is written in John 14:6 WEB: "Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me." We must remind that there is no other name by which we can be saved. As it is written in Acts 4:12 WEB: "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"
Now, we stand with the husband in praying for a miracle of reconciliation. We pray that God would touch the wife's heart and bring healing to their marriage. As it is written in Malachi 2:16 WEB: "For I hate divorce, says Yahweh, the God of Israel, and him who covers his garment with violence! says Yahweh of Armies. Therefore pay attention to your spirit, and do not be unfaithful."
We pray,
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this marriage that is in dire need of Your divine intervention. We pray for a softening of the wife's heart, Lord, and a cancellation of the divorce that has been filed. We ask that You would heal their marriage and reunite their family, for Your glory and honor.
Lord, we know that You are a God of miracles, and that nothing is impossible for You. We ask that You would bring renewed commitment to serve Christ together as a family. We pray for wisdom, patience, forgiveness, and understanding to flow through this marriage. Please stop any bitterness, anger, malice, and unforgiveness that may be trying to control either of them. In Jesus' name, we rebuke any influence of the devil to destroy this marriage and family.
Please give them a new love for each other and to place You first in their marriage above everything else. Give them a heart to serve and please each other. Please let them give their marriage to you completely and let them seek You, Lord, with all their hearts. May their home be filled with Your peace, joy, and love. We pray for their children, that they would be blessed and strengthened through this trial, and that they would draw closer to You, Lord.
We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
We encourage the husband to continue to walk in love and forgiveness, as Christ has loved and forgiven us. As it is written in Ephesians 5:25 WEB: "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it." Trust in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him to work in this situation. As it is written in Psalm 27:14 WEB: "Wait for Yahweh. Be strong, and let your heart take courage. Yes, wait for Yahweh."
We also encourage the wife to consider the sanctity of marriage and the commitment made before God. As it is written in 1 Corinthians 7:10-11 WEB: "But to the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, that the wife not depart from her husband (but if she departs, let her remain unmarried, or else be reconciled to her husband), and that the husband not leave his wife." We pray that she would be open to reconciliation and the healing of their marriage.
We are trusting God for a miracle in this situation, and we are standing in faith for a restored and strengthened marriage. Continue to pray and believe, and remember that with God, all things are possible. As it is written in Matthew 19:26 WEB: "Jesus looked at them and said, With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."
