Prayers for Lord Jesus to speak to me tonight

Hello everyone, I have sought and continually seek God’s voice for guidance, instruction and clarity in my next steps in this spiritual warfare my spouse to be and I have been engaged in. I ask, and invite You, Lord Jesus, to please speak to me tonight in my dreams, and please not just in my dreams, but in what ever way You choose to, whether awake or asleep. In the name of Jesus Christ, thank You Lord, and all you who read and pray on my behalf, amen.

We hear your earnest cry for the Lord’s voice in this season of spiritual battle, and we join you in seeking His wisdom and direction. The longing to hear from God, whether in dreams, through His Word, or in the stillness of the heart, is a holy desire, for He promises in Jeremiah 33:3, "Call to me, and I will answer you, and will show you great and mighty things, which you don’t know." You are right to invite Jesus into every moment, awake or asleep, for He is the Good Shepherd who leads His sheep (John 10:27).

We also lift up your future marriage with reverence, for it is a sacred covenant before God. The spiritual warfare you describe is real, and the enemy seeks to sow discord, doubt, and division even before the wedding vows are spoken. But we declare that no weapon formed against your union shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we pray that the Lord would fortify your bond with His truth, love, and protection. May your courtship be marked by purity, mutual submission, and a shared hunger for God’s will, as you prepare to become one flesh in Christ (Ephesians 5:31).

Father, we ask You to speak clearly to our brother tonight. Whether through dreams, the whisper of the Holy Spirit, or the counsel of Your Word, let him hear Your voice unmistakably. Remove any fear, confusion, or distraction that would hinder his ability to discern Your leading. We rebuke the lies of the enemy that seek to isolate him or make him doubt Your nearness. Instead, let him rest in the promise of Psalm 16:7: "I will bless Yahweh, who has given me counsel. Yes, my heart instructs me in the night seasons." May he wake with a renewed sense of Your presence and direction, knowing that You go before him in this battle.

We also pray for his future spouse, that she too would be sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s guidance. Strengthen their communication, their unity in prayer, and their shared commitment to honor You in every decision. Let their relationship be a testimony to Your faithfulness, built on the foundation of Christ (1 Corinthians 3:11).

Lord, we thank You for the privilege of coming before Your throne together. We trust that You are working all things for their good (Romans 8:28), and we declare that this season of waiting and warfare will produce endurance, character, and hope (Romans 5:3-4). Speak, Lord, for Your servants are listening. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

We know that longing to hear from the Lord, especially when the battle feels thick and the next step isn’t clear. There is something deeply right about a heart that keeps saying, “Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.” We’ve been in that place, and we are praying with you now from that same hunger.

Often, God’s guidance comes less like a sudden shout and more like a quiet, settled knowing that grows as we rest in Him. While you wait for that dream or that unmistakable word, don’t discount the small, daily ways He may already be building clarity, a repeated phrase in Scripture that won’t leave you alone, the wise counsel of a trusted friend, or a persistent check in your spirit about a particular direction. Sometimes our seeking becomes so focused on a dramatic breakthrough that we miss the gentle impressions He is already giving. The spiritual warfare resource reminds us that the Holy Spirit helps us discern truth, and often that discernment unfolds as we simply hold our questions before Him and pay attention.

Right now, the most concrete thing you can do is keep your request before Him with open hands. You have asked Him to speak; trust that He honors that. Maybe tonight you simply put a notebook by your bed and, when you wake, write whatever is on your mind, not to find a secret code, but to notice patterns over time. Above all, your security does not rest in receiving a word tonight. Your safety and your future are held by a faithful Shepherd who knows exactly what you need and when you need it.

Jesus, we thank You that You are not silent, and that You draw near to those who seek You with their whole heart. For this dear brother, we ask that You quiet the noise and bring the rest that lets him hear You however You choose to speak, through dreams, through Your Word, through the peace that settles deep in his chest. Give him a clear sense of the next step, and steady him in the waiting. Guard him and his spouse-to-be from the enemy’s confusion, and anchor them both in Your unshakable goodness. We trust You to lead them through this warfare and into greater light. In Your strong name, Jesus, amen.

You seek a voice from the Lord in the night watches, that Jesus would speak to you in dreams. This is a desire most natural in the midst of spiritual conflict, yet take heed that you do not set a snare for your own feet by inordinate craving after signs and wonders. The voice from the cloud would but dismay, the voice of Jesus in the heart is the true comfort. How often have saints cried out for some audible word, some vision of the night, and yet the Lord answers after a more excellent way: by the open Scriptures, by the still small voice of His Spirit applying the promise with power, by the touch of His hand that bids us, "Be not afraid." The best evidences are those which grow out of actual communion with Christ, not out of extraordinary manifestations. Dost thou know what I mean? It is a better thing for a man to live near to Christ and to enjoy His presence, than it would be for him to be overshadowed with a bright cloud and to hear the Divine Father Himself speaking out of it.

Yet is this no cause to quench the desire for guidance. The Psalmist cried, "Thou shalt guide me with Thy counsel," and this is a sweet confidence for all who have become His pupils. See that thou hast a teachable spirit, for God resisteth the proud and giveth grace unto the lowly. They who come saying, "Lord, what wilt Thou have me to do?" shall not walk in darkness. Our Master Christ dealt tenderly with the blind beggar, not reproaching him for his poverty, but asking, "What wilt thou that I should do unto thee?" So He comes to thee in the very midst of thy warfare, not to upbraid thee with past failures, but to meet thy present need. He is the great Teacher, and from thy youth He would lead thee; only let thy heart bow before Him. The guidance thou seekest is already promised, thou art one of His jewels, plucked as a brand from the fire, and He who redeemed thee with precious blood will not suffer thy foot to be moved. He may not speak in visions of the night; perchance He will speak by a word from the ancient Book which is ever new, for His Word liveth and abideth forever, and a promise from the lips of Hosea becomes as true to thee this very hour as if it were first spoken from heaven. Search thou the Scriptures, for in them thou findest the mind of Christ. Wait upon Him, and He will make the way plain.

As for the warfare of which thou speakest concerning thy spouse that is to be, see that thou dost not overlook the purity which must ever accompany true charity. Pure religion and undefiled before God is this: to keep thyself unspotted from the world. In all thy steps, let holiness be thy aim, and leaneth not to thine own understanding. The Lord will guide thee with His counsel, and afterward receive thee to glory. Rest in this, He who plucked thee out of the fire will not leave thee in the flame. Commend thy way unto Him, commit thy spirit to His keeping, and whether waking or sleeping, thou art safe in the arms of Him who neither slumbers nor sleeps. The voice of Jesus saith to thee, even now, "Be not afraid; only believe."

Many seek for voices in dreams, but they slumber in a deep lethargy, seeing only shadows. Do you not know that no one while sleeping can behold the Sun of Righteousness? Wake, therefore, and arise from the delusion that God must speak to you in the night. He has spoken once for all in His Son and through the holy Scriptures.

The warfare you face is not to be fought with dreams, but by a good warfare, holding faith and a pure conscience. If you would have guidance, then cease from all uncleanness and every sin that clings to your soul. It may be that your affections are entangled in the things of this world, which are but a dream that vanishes with the dawn. Are you and your promised spouse living in accordance with God's law?

For marriage is honorable, but only when the bed is kept undefiled. Therefore, repent with many tears and do penance, lest you ask for light while walking in darkness. Be not hearers only, but doers of the word, and then you shall know the way in which you should go. Put away the vain hope of revelations in sleep, and seek rather to be found wakeful and sober, serving the Lord without distraction.

For this is true spiritual warfare: to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts, and to live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present age. I pray that you both may be awakened to this grace, and so please God, who alone can lead you in the paths of righteousness.

You are right to recognize that a spiritual battle is underway. What you are facing is not merely personal strain or emotional weight, but something in the unseen realm that seeks to disrupt what God is establishing. The enemy often attacks in the mind, sowing doubt, confusion, and fear. That is where the real war is waged, not against people or circumstances, but against principalities and powers that are spirit entities. So the weapons you need are not carnal. They are spiritual, and they are mighty through God for pulling down strongholds.

Among those weapons, prayer holds a decisive place. When you ask the Lord to speak to you, whether through dreams or while you are awake, you are doing exactly what you should: bringing your requests before Him with an open heart. God does guide His people. He is not silent. Yet His most certain voice is the one He has already given in Scripture. If you want to become familiar with the way He speaks, steep yourself in His Word. That is where faith is built and where you learn to discern His leading from every other voice. Dreams may come, and we should remain open to however the Lord chooses to communicate, but the anchor is always the written Word, hidden in the heart.

Since the battle centers on the mind, the enemy will try to twist what God has said. He does this by questioning God’s promises and insinuating that He does not see or care. In those moments, faith, prayer, and the truth of God’s Word become your defense. You counter the attack not by reasoning with the flesh but by wielding what God has provided. Call upon the name of Jesus. There is victory in what He has already accomplished.

Your desire to hear direction for your next steps is good. But remember that seeking His voice also means a willingness to obey whatever He says. The Lord looks for hearts that surrender fully, not those who merely want an answer when it suits them. The people in Jeremiah’s day asked for guidance and even vowed to follow it, but their hearts were disloyal. Do not let that be true of you. As long as you are truly listening and ready to obey, there is hope. That is the posture God honors.

Continue to pray together with your spouse to be. Let prayer be the cornerstone of your union. The enemy would love to turn a spiritual battle into a fleshly conflict between you, but if you both recognize the spiritual nature of the struggle, you can stand united, not wrestling against each other. The greatest weapon you have is prayer offered in faith, in the Spirit, with a heart that says, “Your will be done.”

So go ahead and expect the Lord to speak, in whatever manner He chooses. But do not wait for a dream before you open the Bible. His voice is already there, ready to give clarity, correction, and comfort. And when you hear it, let your response be one of trust and yieldedness. That is what keeps you safe in the fight.

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer as you sought the Lord’s voice for guidance, instruction, and clarity in the midst of spiritual warfare. It is our joy to intercede on your behalf, and we have continued to lift you up before the throne of grace, asking Jesus to speak to you in the way He knows is best—whether in dreams, in moments of stillness, or in the quiet of your heart.

If the Lord has already made His will known to you in some way since you posted, we would be so encouraged to hear a praise report. Please share how He has moved so that we may rejoice with you. If, however, you are still waiting and longing to hear His voice, we invite you to post this request again. We will gladly continue to stand in agreement with you, believing that He who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it.

May the Holy Spirit draw near to you in these days, filling you with peace and assurance as you press into His presence. May you sense His nearness and receive the wisdom and direction you seek. We pray all these things in the mighty and precious name of Jesus. Amen.
