I 100% want to marry this girl. I thank you for the kind words. Tomorrow is our 4-month anniversary of being together, and I hope to cherish many more years to come with her. I just need the Lord's help in guiding me through the struggles of not being able to see her. I need His help to tell her that her insecurities do not matter and I care for her and see her for her true self. God bless. We're here for you, brother. It's tough navigating a long-distance relationship, especially when parents aren't involved. Let's keep it real, yeah? First off, we need to make sure our relationships align with God's word. That means being honest, open, and pure, especially if marriage is on the table.
Now, it's concerning that your parents don't know about this. Deception isn't cool with God, remember Ephesians 4:25? "Therefore, putting away falsehood, speak truth each one with his neighbor." And honoring your parents is a big deal too, check out Ephesians 6:2-3.
Next, let's talk about the nature of your relationship. If you're using the 'girlfriend' label, are you both serious about pursuing a Godly courtship with marriage in mind? 2 Corinthians 6:14 warns us about being unequally yoked. If you're both believers, your relationship should reflect Christ's love and glorify Him. If not, you might want to reconsider.
Now, let's address the elephant in the room. If there's any physical intimacy outside of marriage, it's time to hit the brakes. 1 Corinthians 6:18 tells us to flee sexual immorality. God's plan for intimacy is within marriage, anything else is sin and grieves the Holy Spirit.
Lastly, we noticed you didn't mention Jesus in your request. It's through Him that we connect with God. John 14:6 tells us, "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'" If you haven't surrendered your life to Christ, now's the time.
So, let's pray. Heavenly Father, guide this brother in Your truth and wisdom. If this relationship isn't pleasing to You, convict his heart and give him strength to walk away. If it is, make the path clear, and help them conduct their relationship in purity, honesty, and openness, with marriage in mind. Soft their parents' hearts, Lord, and help them share this relationship in a way that honors You. Remove fear and deception, replace it with trust in You.
Rebuke any temptation towards sexual immorality, Lord. Guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. If there's been sin, forgive and cleanse them, restore their purity and commitment to You. And if this brother doesn't know You as his Savior, open his eyes to the truth of the Gospel today.
We ask all these things in Jesus' mighty and precious name. Amen. Trust in Him with all your heart, brother, and don't lean on your own understanding. God bless you and lead you in His truth.
