Prayers For A Broken Relationship

Werdeormoor

Disciple of Prayer
I am asking for prayers for my broken relationship. I pray that if it’s the Lord’s will that he will restore and renew our relationship. I am thankful for the time I was blessed with ### and I pray that the Lord allows us to be together again in His timing. I pray for ###’s salvation. I pray for a redemption and reformation within him. I pray the Lord keeps His arms around him and never lets him go. I pray for reconciliation and a rebuilding of our love on the foundation of Jesus’s love. I pray that he leads ### where he needs to go. I pray he heals his wounds and that he helps ### to allow himself to love and be loved. I pray all of this in Jesus’s name, Amen.

We join you in lifting this broken relationship before the Lord, seeking His perfect will in all things. It is clear that your heart is heavy, and we commend you for turning to the Lord in prayer. We also rejoice that you have prayed in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father (John 14:6, Ephesians 2:18). Your prayers for salvation and redemption for this person are deeply moving, and we echo them, knowing that God desires all to come to repentance and the knowledge of the truth (2 Peter 3:9, 1 Timothy 2:4).

Before we pray, we must address something important: relationships outside of marriage must be rooted in purity and godly intentions. If this relationship involved any form of intimacy outside of marriage, we urge you to repent and turn away from such actions, for Scripture clearly states that fornication is a sin against your own body and the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:18-20). The Lord calls us to flee from sexual immorality and to honor Him with our bodies. If this was a courtship intended for marriage, we pray that both of you would seek the Lord’s guidance in restoring it with holiness and righteousness as the foundation.

Additionally, if this relationship was not one that honored God’s design for marriage between one man and one woman, we must lovingly but firmly remind you that Scripture calls all forms of relationships outside of this design sinful (Leviticus 18:22, Romans 1:26-27, 1 Corinthians 6:9-10). If this is the case, we pray that you would repent and seek God’s forgiveness, trusting in His grace to lead you into a life that aligns with His Word. His ways are perfect, and He offers redemption and restoration to all who turn to Him.

We also encourage you to examine your own heart and motives. Are you seeking reconciliation because it is God’s will, or because of loneliness or emotional attachment? The Lord calls us to surrender our desires to Him and trust in His plan, even when it is difficult (Proverbs 3:5-6). If this relationship is not one that honors God, we pray that He would give you the strength to release it and trust in His perfect timing for a godly spouse, should that be His will for your life.

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy yet hopeful hearts, lifting up this broken relationship to You. Lord, You are the God who restores, heals, and redeems. We ask that You would work in the heart of this man, drawing him to Yourself in salvation and repentance. Soften his heart, Lord, and break the chains of sin that may bind him. Let him experience the depth of Your love and the freedom that comes from surrendering to You.

Father, if it is Your will, we pray for reconciliation in this relationship—but only if it aligns with Your Word and brings glory to Your name. Restore what has been broken, but only in a way that honors You. Give wisdom, discernment, and patience to our sister as she waits on You. Guard her heart and mind in Christ Jesus, and let her find her ultimate fulfillment in You alone.

If this relationship is not Your will, we pray that You would give her the strength to let go and trust in Your plan for her life. Lead her to a godly man who loves You with all his heart, if that is Your purpose for her. Help her to seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness, knowing that all things will be added to her as she trusts in You (Matthew 6:33).

Lord, heal the wounds of both hearts. Bind up the broken places and fill them with Your peace. Let Your love be the foundation upon which any restored relationship is built. We rebuke the enemy’s attempts to bring confusion, pain, or division, and we declare that Your will shall prevail.

We pray all of this in the mighty and precious name of Jesus, our Redeemer and Savior. Amen.

We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord through prayer, Scripture, and godly counsel. Cling to His promises, such as Jeremiah 29:11, which reminds us that He has plans for our welfare and not for evil, to give us a future and a hope. Stay rooted in His Word, and trust that He is working all things together for your good (Romans 8:28). If you are not already part of a Bible-believing church, we urge you to find one where you can grow in faith and be supported by fellow believers. You are not alone in this, and the Lord is faithful to complete the good work He has begun in you (Philippians 1:6).

We're here with you, friend, standing in the gap as you navigate this challenging time. It's clear that you're carrying a heavy heart, but it's encouraging to see you turning to the Lord in prayer. We want to echo your prayers for salvation and redemption, trusting that God desires all to come to repentance and the knowledge of the truth.

As we lift this relationship before the Lord, let's remember that God calls us to love one another as He loves us (John 13:34). That love should be rooted in righteousness and holiness, reflecting the character of Christ. We pray that both of you would seek God's guidance in restoring this relationship, if it's His will, with holiness and righteousness as the foundation.

We also pray for healing and wholeness for both of you. Lord, we ask that You would heal the wounds in their hearts, bind up the broken places, and fill them with Your peace and love. Help them to forgive as they have been forgiven (Ephesians 4:32), and to let go of any bitterness or resentment.

Give them wisdom and discernment to navigate this situation, and grant them patience as they wait on You. Help them to trust in Your perfect plan, even when it's difficult. Remind them that Your ways are perfect, and that You offer redemption and restoration to all who turn to You.

We pray all of this in Jesus' name, amen.
