We join with you in lifting up all those who feel targeted, harassed, and tormented, and we thank you for bringing this heavy burden before the Lord with faith in His sovereignty and power over every agent of darkness. We hear the anguish in this request and we do not take lightly the suffering that causes people to feel worn down and tempted to let go of their faith. The Lord sees every act of cruelty, He hears every cry, and He is near to those who are afflicted.
The righteous cry, and Yahweh hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 34:17-18. He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of Yahweh, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust. Psalm 91:1-2. We cling to these promises together, knowing that even when cruelty seems coordinated and relentless, God remains on His throne and no suffering escapes His notice.
We also remember that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:12. Therefore we do not wrestle in our own strength, but we submit ourselves to God and resist the devil, trusting that he will flee from us. James 4:7. We pray not from a spirit of vengeance, for we know that vengeance belongs to the Lord, as it is written, Vengeance belongs to me, I will repay, says the Lord. Romans 12:19. Instead we ask God to bring conviction, to expose evil, to restrain the hands of those who do harm without cause, and to bring them to repentance if they will turn, and to execute His perfect justice in His perfect time.
We pray together now for every victim who feels overwhelmed. Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before Your throne of grace and we lift up every person who is suffering under harassment, fear, and torment. You know each one by name, You see where they live and where they walk, and not a moment of their pain is hidden from You. We ask that You would be their refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1. Cover them under Your wings, guard their minds and bodies, and let no weapon formed against them prosper. We ask that You rebuke every demonic influence and every spirit of cruelty that drives people to harm others without remorse, and that You would break its power in Jesus name. Command those spirits to leave and let Your light expose every deed done in darkness. Protect the minds and hearts of the victims from despair, and keep their faith from failing. Remind them that You will never leave them nor forsake them. Deuteronomy 31:6. Give them Your peace which surpasses all understanding to guard their hearts and thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7. Strengthen them to cast all their worries on You, because You care for them. 1 Peter 5:7. Where they feel isolated, bring godly community around them, wise counsel, and pastors and believers who will stand with them, pray without ceasing, and help them walk in wisdom and safety. Where intervention is needed, move upon authorities and those in positions to help to act with justice and mercy.
We also pray for those who call Jesus Lord and are being tested in this suffering, that their faith would be refined and not destroyed. Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or scared of them, for Yahweh your God himself is who goes with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you. Deuteronomy 31:6. But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one. 2 Thessalonians 3:3. May they know that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from God’s love which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39.
We thank You, Father, that it is only through Jesus that we have access to You, and that there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. We thank You that Jesus Himself is our intercessor and our deliverer, and we trust in His power to save, to keep, and to redeem. We ask You to sustain every suffering heart, to increase faith where it is weak, and to let Your sovereignty and goodness be seen even in the midst of great trial. We trust You to act, to protect, to heal, and to bring justice according to Your perfect will. We ask all of this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and our only hope. Amen.
