The Sweet Harp of Consolation
God’s presence with you in every trial means you need not fear, for He sustains and comforts you always.
We have read your request and we are lifting you up before the Lord together, for we hear the deep pain and heaviness in your words as you describe this darkest and lowest point. We want you to know that you are not alone and you are not forgotten, even when it feels overwhelming and scary and isolating. The Lord sees you right where you are and He draws near to those who are suffering.

The Word reminds us that God is close in our brokenness. Psalm 34:18 says Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Isaiah 41:10 says Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. And Jesus Himself invites us in Matthew 11:28 saying Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Your desire to get better is precious to God, and He is not distant from your struggle. Your depression is not a sign that He has abandoned you. In Psalm 61:2 we read When my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

We also noticed that your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to gently share why His name matters so much to us. It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and find true hope and salvation. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If you have not already done so, we encourage you to put your trust in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and to call upon His name. Romans 10:9 says that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. It is through Him that we can bring every burden, including this heavy depression, directly to God in prayer.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one to You. You know the depth of this darkness and the weight of this depression that feels worse than ever before. Lord, we ask that You make Your presence known in a powerful and comforting way. Wrap Your arms around this hurting heart and quiet the fear and overwhelm with Your perfect peace. Philippians 4:6-7 says In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. We ask for that peace to guard this heart and mind right now. Lord, lift this burden, bring rest to the weary soul, and restore hope where hope feels lost. Give strength for each day, and help this dear one to feel Your nearness and Your love. Lead to godly community, to a caring pastor or trusted Christian counselor and to help that can walk alongside in this valley. Show that there is a future and a hope in You, for Jeremiah 29:11 says For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. In the name of Jesus we pray for healing, for light to break through this darkness, and for renewed strength to keep pressing forward. Amen.

We encourage you to keep reaching out and not to carry this alone. God often brings His comfort through His people, so please consider sharing honestly with a trusted pastor, a mature Christian believer, or a Christian counselor who can support you regularly and pray with you face to face. If your depression feels unsafe or unmanageable, please reach out right away to a trusted person or a medical professional for help. Continue to pour out your heart to God honestly in prayer, even with few words, and stay in His Word daily, for it brings life and light. We also cling to the promise in Romans 8:38-39 that nothing can separate us from God’s love which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. We will keep praying for you to experience that love, to find relief from this overwhelming weight, and to step into the healing and hope that the Lord desires for you.

Thank you for telling us so honestly where you are. Hearing that this feels like the darkest and lowest point, and that your depression feels worse than ever despite trying so hard to get better, tells us how heavy and exhausting this has been. Feeling overwhelmed, scared and alone for a long time takes a real toll, and we want you to know we hear you and we are not going anywhere.

Wanting to get better, even while you feel this low, matters. It shows a strength that depression can make hard to see. You have been trying, and that effort is not unseen by God or by us.

When everything feels overwhelming it can help to not carry it alone. If you can, please consider reaching out today to one trusted person, a family member, friend, pastor or counselor, and let them know how you have been feeling. Alongside prayer, we also encourage you to connect with your doctor or a counselor soon to talk through what you are experiencing. You deserve care and support as you walk through this.

We are holding you in prayer.

Father, we bring our friend to You in Jesus name. You see the loneliness and fear and the weight they are carrying. Please draw near with Your comfort, give them strength for today, and guide them to caring help and steady support. Remind them they are not alone and that You are with them. Amen.

Your honest cry in this darkest and lowest point has been heard, and the very desire you express, that you just want to get better, is not overlooked by the Lord who sees you in your overwhelm and fear and loneliness.

There is no hope for you in yourself, and it is a painful thing to come to that place where you feel you have tried so hard and yet have grown worse. Hopelessness in self is a hard place, but it is not the end, for there is hope for you in Him whom God has provided to be the Savior of such as you. Though you may sit down in despair and say there is no hope, the God of Hope remains, and there is the brightness of a ray of hope this very morning if God will turn it from a possible into an actual hope through believing in Jesus Christ. High thoughts of God beget hope in the soul, and hope leads to confidence.

You write that you feel so alone, and that loneliness has a peculiar sharpness when the soul is in deep conflict and faith itself has to fight for very existence. Know that your Savior has entered into that loneliness before you. He was left alone just when most, as man, He needed human sympathy, and His disciples forsook Him and fled when fear overcame them. He knows what it is to stand at bay alone while the sorrows press in. His solemn self surrender in that loneliness was full of love, and He is not a stranger to the sorrow of being friendless and forsaken. You are not unseen in your aloneness, for there is One who careth for you.

There is an abundance of healing power in Jesus Christ and His salvation. The Scripture speaks of the tree of life whose leaves were for the healing of the nations, and the least thing about Christ is healing. Not only His great works, but even the leaves, the little things as it were about Him, are full of healing virtue to change the life blood and make the nature other than it was before. He has a peculiar art in dealing with desperate diseases and finds His delight in healing those whom all others have left for lost. Though you should judge yourself to be as one dead and your last hope should expire, His healing hand of tenderness and love can yet come at whose touch the spirit shall survive. He healeth the broken in heart and bindeth up their wounds.

To your fear the Lord speaks His own word, Fear not. Fear not is a plant which grows very plentifully in Gods garden. Fear not, thou worm Jacob, I will help thee, saith the Lord. Fear not, for I am with you, be not dismayed for I am your God. It is not merely a preacher who cries Fear not, but Jesus Himself who whispers to His poor servant fallen as dead at His feet, Fear not. Fear is weakening and dishonors God when it doubts the arm which piled the heavens, and He would have you labor to get rid of fear by trusting in promised strength. To be afraid when He has said I will help thee is to forget His faithful promise.

Sit not down in despair, hope on, hope ever. Take up arms against this sea of troubles and look to Him. Keep to the simplicity of your first faith, to trust Christ alone for salvation and for daily mercy. In the dust of self abasement there is a place for hope, for God grants pardon and healing when men are humbled and seek Him. Your pains and your wounding may be Gods work in your soul that you may seek Him more earnestly.

I pray that the Lord will give you a good hope of eternal life through Jesus Christ, and that He will lift this heavy darkness by degrees and give you strength for each day. Will you let a trusted pastor or a believing friend or family member know how deeply you are struggling in these days, and seek also the help of a wise counselor or physician who can walk with you in this affliction. You need not bear this alone in secret.

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May He who forgives and then heals lay His hand upon you and say, Fear not, only believe. May He bring you healing leaves from that great tree of life, and restore to you appetite for His Word and joy in His presence, and prove to you that though you are a worm and no man in your own eyes, He will help you and not forsake you. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

I have heard your prayer and the deep pain in your words, and I want you to know that you are not unseen and you are not alone. To feel overwhelmed, scared, and alone in the darkest point, even while you have tried so hard to get better, is a heavy burden to carry. God sees you in this place and He has not turned away from you.

Please do not despair of yourself, even when you feel pressed on every side. Scripture tells us we can be pressed and perplexed, yet not without hope. The enemy never stops hoping for our ruin, and how much more should we hold fast to hope for our salvation when God Himself desires to save us. He has shown this by giving His own Son for you, not sparing even Him, so that you might live. If He has given the greatest gift, He will not withhold His mercy and help for what you face now.

There is still hope while it is called today. As long as we are in this life, today is the time for hope and for turning to Him again. Your struggle does not mean you have failed or that God has abandoned you. Patience in affliction works endurance, and endurance works hope, and that hope is not put to shame because it is anchored not in our strength but in His love. The present moment may feel endless, but it is momentary compared to the eternal mercy He is preparing for you.

I urge you, do not carry this alone. The Lord calls us to exhort and comfort one another daily, to bear with those who are weary and to support the weak with gentleness. Reach out to a trusted pastor, a faithful friend or family member, and to a counselor or medical professional who can walk with you in this season. Stay near to the church, to prayer, to hearing His Word, and to the fellowship of believers who can stand with you and pray for you. If you ever feel unsafe with your thoughts, please reach out right away to someone near you or to a trusted help line in your area.

I am praying for you now.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ who alone is our salvation, I bring this dear one before You. You know the depth of this depression, the fear and the loneliness that feels so heavy. Have mercy and draw near. Lift this burden, calm this fear, and let Your presence be felt. Give strength to keep going, hope to not despair, and help through the people You have placed nearby. Lead to wise and caring support, to healing, and to rest for this weary soul. Show that You desire not to destroy but to save, and that Your love endures. Grant better days ahead and the grace to take one step at a time, trusting in Your goodness. Amen.

Please keep reaching out. You are cared for, you are prayed for, and there is still hope for you.
