Beloved of All
Please pray for me and my home situation. Things have become very difficult between me and the person I live with. He is autistic, and when he becomes very focused or upset he can sometimes speak very intensely and get fixed on one idea. Today, after a stressful problem in the house, he told me that my reactions are because of childhood trauma and that I need to do “inner child” work. He has now told me that I need to do this as a kind of homework to speak to my inner child, comfort her and work through what happened to me when I was young and that if I do not do it, he will not talk to me anymore. I find this very upsetting because he is not a therapist, and I do not feel comfortable being analysed, diagnosed or given therapeutic homework by someone I live with. I try to treat him with kindness and respect, but lately I have felt very hurt and emotionally exhausted by the way he speaks to me. At the moment I am not financially or practically able to move out, so please pray especially that God helps me keep peace in the home while I am here. Please pray that arguments do not escalate, that I have wisdom about when to speak and when to stay quiet, and that I can remain calm without feeling pressured to accept things I am uncomfortable with. Please pray for both of us to have calmer hearts, better communication, patience and respect. Please pray that he can express his concerns without insults, anger, ultimatums or trying to control how I deal with my own emotions and mental health. Please also pray for protection over our home, because we have had problems with the property recently, and for financial provision and the right work opportunities for me. I would really like, when it becomes possible, to have a peaceful and stable place of my own. Most of all, please pray for peace, wisdom, emotional strength, protection and clear guidance for what I should do next. ❤️🙏

We have read your request and we are joining with you in prayer before our heavenly Father, lifting up your home situation and the heaviness you are carrying. We hear how hurt and emotionally exhausted you have felt, and how difficult it is to remain in a home where you do not feel safe to express your emotions without being analyzed or pressured. We ask God to surround you with His peace and to be your refuge while you are not yet able to move.

We want to speak with love and truth about some of what you described. The idea of doing inner child work, speaking to an inner child to comfort her and work through childhood trauma as homework assigned by the person you live with, is not a biblical concept for healing. We believe that true healing for past wounds comes not from looking inward to an inner child, but from looking upward to Christ who heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds Psalm 147:3. In Christ we are made new, old things have passed away, behold, all things have become new 2 Corinthians 5:17, and we are called to be renewed in the spirit of our minds Ephesians 4:23 and to cast all our worries on Him, because He cares for you 1 Peter 5:7. It is not right for someone you live with, who is not a counselor or pastor, to diagnose you, analyze your childhood, or assign you therapeutic homework and then threaten to withhold relationship if you do not comply. That kind of ultimatum and control does not reflect love, for love is patient and is kind, love does not insist on its own way 1 Corinthians 13:4-5, and we gently rebuke that controlling pattern. Even when we understand that autism can mean a person may become intensely focused or speak very intensely when stressed or fixed on an idea, that does not make hurtful, insulting, or angry words acceptable. We are called to let no corrupt speech proceed out of our mouths, but only what is good for building others up Ephesians 4:29 and to let a gentle answer turn away wrath Proverbs 15:1.

We also want to address your living situation with biblical clarity. You refer to the person you live with as he, but you do not tell us if this is a family member, a housemate, or a romantic relationship. If this is a romantic relationship outside of marriage, we encourage you to know that God designed sexual intimacy and sharing a home as husband and wife to be within the covenant of marriage between a man and a woman Genesis 2:24, Hebrews 13:4, and living together as boyfriend and girlfriend falls short of that design and is called fornication. If that is your situation we encourage you toward repentance and toward pursuing courtship that honors God with the goal of marriage to a fellow believer, or toward establishing separate and appropriate boundaries while you remain under the same roof. If he is simply a housemate or relative, we still encourage you to maintain clear, godly boundaries for your emotional and spiritual health, and to seek wise, safe counsel from a pastor or mature believers in your local church rather than accepting counseling homework from someone in the home.

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6, and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If you have not already done so, we encourage you to place your trust in Jesus, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, confessing Him as Lord Romans 10:9, for He invites all who are weary and burdened to come to Him for rest Matthew 11:28.

We are praying for you and for the person you live with together.

We pray, Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ, that You would grant our sister wisdom liberally as You have promised, for if any lacks wisdom let him ask of God who gives to all liberally and without reproach and it will be given to him James 1:5. Give her wisdom to know when to speak and when to stay quiet, to be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger James 1:19, and help her to set loving boundaries without fear, for You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control 2 Timothy 1:7. Let Your peace which surpasses all understanding guard her heart and mind in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:7, and help her to remain calm without feeling pressured to accept what is not right for her. We pray that arguments in the home would not escalate, that if it is possible, as much as it is up to her, she would live at peace with all Romans 12:18, and that You would soften both hearts, bringing better communication, patience, and mutual respect. Convict him where his words have been harsh or controlling, and teach him to express concerns without insults, anger, or ultimatums, but with grace seasoned with salt Colossians 4:6.

We pray for protection over your home and the property problems you mentioned, for You are our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble Psalm 46:1, and he who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty Psalm 91:1. Provide for her financial needs according to Your riches in glory in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:19, open the right work opportunities, and in Your perfect timing provide a peaceful and stable place of her own where she can dwell in safety. Strengthen her emotionally, for You have said fear not, for I am with you, be not dismayed for I am your God, I will strengthen you, yes I will help you Isaiah 41:10, and let her find her strength made perfect in weakness as Your grace is sufficient 2 Corinthians 12:9. Lead her step by step and make her path clear, for we trust You to direct our steps Proverbs 16:9. We ask all of this in the saving and mighty name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and mediator, amen.

We hear how heavy and draining this home situation has been for you, and how upsetting it feels to be analyzed and given homework for your own story by someone you live with. It makes sense you feel hurt and exhausted, and that you want peace while you are not yet able to make a change in housing.

What you described about not wanting to be diagnosed or assigned therapeutic work by a housemate is an important and healthy instinct. The care of your own emotions, history, and mental health belongs to you. If you ever do want to explore any of those areas, that is something for you to decide freely and, if you choose, with a qualified counselor or pastor you trust, not because of an ultimatum. Being kind and respectful does not mean you have to accept pressure or say yes to something you are uncomfortable with. Learning to let your yes be yes and your no be no, calmly and consistently, helps protect both peace and freedom in a shared home.

It may help to settle on one simple, calm phrase you can repeat when the topic comes up, such as that you hear his concern but you will make your own decisions about your mental health, and then give yourself permission to step away when talk becomes intense or fixed. If you can, we encourage you to share your situation with one trusted person in your life, a pastor, counselor, or wise friend, who can know where you are living and help you think through safety, calm communication, and next steps toward work and a more stable place of your own.

Father, we lift our sister to You in Jesus' name. Give her wisdom to know when to speak and when to be quiet, strength to remain calm without giving in to pressure, and protection over her home and heart. Bring calmer communication, respect on both sides, and no escalation of arguments. Provide for her needs, open good work, and guide her clearly toward peace and a secure place to live. Amen.

Your burden has been heard and we have carried it before the Lord who hears the cries of the weary. You have described a home that feels heavy, where words have wounded and where you feel pressured and exhausted, and we do not take lightly the weight you carry while unable at present to find another dwelling.

The Scripture says, Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, and this peace in believing is a filling peace. There is in the heart a great vacuum caused by sin and sorrow, and there is no peace worthy of the name to be found in any other way than by trusting Christ. It is a peace of intense restfulness, a sea that has no bottom nor shore. We pray that you may know that peace which passes all understanding, which keeps heart and mind through Jesus Christ, not because your circumstances are at once made easy, but because your soul rests in the bosom of your Beloved. Believe, that is, trust, trust Jesus with your soul, and you shall have peace in believing.

It is right that you feel uncomfortable being analysed, diagnosed and set therapeutic homework by one with whom you share a roof. Such searching of the heart belongs, if it is to be pursued at all, under wise, qualified and godly counsel, not under pressure or ultimatum within a household. Love does not control how another must deal with her own emotions and history, nor does it use silence as a weapon. We pray that the Lord will give you wisdom to know when to speak and when to stay quiet, grace to remain calm without yielding to what your conscience cannot accept, and strength to set gentle but firm boundaries with patience and respect. We pray also for the one with whom you live, that the Lord would calm his heart, temper intensity with kindness, and teach him to express concern without insult, anger, ultimatums or attempts to control how you deal with your own emotions and mental health.

While you must remain under the same roof for now, we ask God to make peace in your borders and to be your protection over the home itself, which has known trouble, and over your hearts within it. We do not ask God to bless as marriage what He has ordained for marriage alone, for His Word teaches that marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman and that the living together that belongs to it belongs within it. Yet while you are in this difficult providence, we do ask Him to keep strife from escalating, to give better communication, and in His mercy and timing to provide for you the peaceful and stable place of your own that you desire, with honest work and sufficient provision. Whoever trusts in the Lord, happy is he, and we pray that as you trust Him in temporal things as well as spiritual, you may find Him faithful to guide your next steps.

Let us pray together. O God of hope, look upon your child in her weariness. Fill her with all joy and peace in believing, and let her confidence be not in her peace, not in her joy, but in Christ alone who has reconciled us to God by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby. Grant her wisdom that comes from above, emotional strength for each day, and clear guidance for what she should do next. Guard this home from further harm and from the escalation of arguments. Soften and restrain where there is intensity and fixity, and teach both who dwell there to speak with patience and to listen with respect. Provide work that is fitting and provision that is sufficient, and open the way, when it is Your will, to a quiet habitation where peace may dwell. Keep her heart and mind through Jesus Christ until that hour, and let her go in peace, for her faith has saved her. In the name of Jesus our only hope, Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Thank you for sharing your prayer request with such honesty. It is clear you have been carrying a heavy burden, and it is understandable that you feel hurt and emotionally exhausted. Wanting to treat the person you live with with kindness and respect while also feeling pressured and uncomfortable is a difficult place to be, and your desire for peace, wisdom and calm in the home is good and right.

It is reasonable that you do not feel comfortable being analyzed, diagnosed or given therapeutic homework by someone you live with. Care for our emotional and mental health is important, but that kind of work is not something a housemate should require of another, and it is right to have boundaries about what you will and will not accept, especially when it is presented as an ultimatum not to talk to you unless you comply. That kind of pressure does not reflect patient and respectful communication.

We also hear that living together at this time is not something you are able to change quickly for practical and financial reasons, and that you want to keep peace while you are there, with wisdom about when to speak and when to stay quiet, and with strength to remain calm without feeling forced to agree to things that trouble your conscience.

We will pray for you and for your home.

We pray that God will guard your heart and give you peace that passes understanding, and that He will give you wisdom, emotional strength and clear guidance for each next step. We pray that arguments will not escalate, that you will know when to speak and when to remain quiet, and that you will be able to stay calm and steady while holding to healthy boundaries.

We pray for both of you, that God would bring calmer hearts, patience, respect and better communication, and that concerns can be expressed without insults, anger, ultimatums or attempts to control how the other person handles their own emotions and mental health. We pray that God will help you both to speak truthfully and to listen with gentleness.

We pray for protection over your home and for help with the property problems you have faced. We pray for financial provision and for the right work opportunities, and that in His timing God will provide a peaceful and stable place of your own where you can live with quietness and safety.

We pray above all that you will know God's nearness, that He will protect you, renew your strength day by day, and lead you in the way that honors Him and brings lasting peace. As Scripture teaches, a quiet and peaceable life lived in godliness is good and pleasing to God, and true peace within the home and within the heart comes from Christ Himself, who gives His peace to those who trust Him. May He keep you, guide you and give you confidence as you seek Him for wisdom.

If you have a trusted pastor or mature believer nearby, we encourage you to share this burden with them as well so they can support you and pray with you in person, and to seek appropriate pastoral or professional support for any past hurts in a setting where you feel safe and free to choose what is right for you.

We are praying for you, for peace in your home now, for protection and provision, and for clear direction for the future.
